Re: [arch-general] arch-general Digest, Vol 164, Issue 26
After upgraded to 4.17.2, With DDE, I cannot use multi-display with 1920*1080 for all monitors. I can just use one main monitor with 1920*1080 and another one with 1024*768 or less. I tried to modify the settings in DDE, but useless. Also, there's lots of `[Firmware bug]` in `dmesg`, with `register_kretprobes failed, returned -22` . My machine is Lenovo Ideapad 320S-14IKB. Finally I rollback my apps back, here's the **upgrade log**, I just roll them back to the original version: ``` [2018-06-18 15:55] [ALPM] upgraded linux-firmware (20180518.2a9b2cf-1 -> 20180606.d114732-1) [2018-06-18 15:56] [ALPM] upgraded linux (4.16.13-2 -> 4.17.2-1) [2018-06-18 15:56] [ALPM] upgraded acpi_call (1.1.0-133 -> 1.1.0-137) [2018-06-18 15:56] [ALPM] upgraded nvidia-390xx-utils (390.59-2 -> 390.67-2) [2018-06-18 15:56] [ALPM] upgraded lib32-nvidia-390xx-utils (390.59-1 -> 390.67-1) [2018-06-18 15:56] [ALPM] upgraded lib32-opencl-nvidia-390xx (390.59-1 -> 390.67-1) [2018-06-18 15:56] [ALPM] upgraded linux-headers (4.16.13-2 -> 4.17.2-1) [2018-06-18 15:56] [ALPM] upgraded nvidia-390xx (390.59-5 -> 390.67-3) [2018-06-18 15:56] [ALPM] upgraded opencl-nvidia-390xx (390.59-2 -> 390.67-2) ``` There may be a lot of bugs, upgrade carefully.

Also, I'm not a dev, but it took me less then a minute to lookup the Arch PKGBUILD and check the version history. You could have done the same... (don't know about Manjaro for that matter though). With apologies for any sharp undertones. ;) Mvg, Guus Snijders
Re: [arch-general] Upgrade to Linux 4.17.2 & xorg-server 1.20.0-8 breaks left-mouse in remote Linux desktops
Is there a guide to migrate from synaptics to libinput? I tried and failed to configure Wayland's libinput to behave like my xf86-input-synaptics config, and that has been enough experience to not try xf86-input-libinput, at least for the moment.

Hi David, > The left-mouse click seems to be taken as an escape closing the menu > without actually selecting anything. In fact, I have to admit that I am a Manjaro user and I was under the impression that the bash package comes from the arch repo. Please except my apologise for this. I will have to find out now why the Manjaro package maintainer removed the "backup etc/bash.bashrc" line. Thanks Matthias

Anyway, just restore the file from your backup and/or version control system. Don't have one of those yet? Welcome to the wonderful world of system administration ;). Mvg, Guus Snijders

If you have both linux 4.17.x and Xorg 1.20.x in a guest with VirtualBox 5.2.12 managing it, mouse focus is lost. I found a "dirty" workaround. Blacklisting vboxguest. I opened a bug upstream : https://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/17827 At least, I got my mouse focus back! -- Frederic Bezies fredbez...@gmail.com

After update to Linux 4.17.2 & xorg-server 1.20.0-8, VirtualBox-5.2.12 starts the Archlinux guests fine, X starts fine in the guests (running fluxbox), and pressing the right-mouse brings up the fluxbox-menu fine, but there is no way to select an item with the left-mouse. When the xterm is open, there is no way to grab the title-bar and move the xterm around, again, as if the left-mouse input isn't seen. An moving the cursor over the bottom of the window will not bring up the taskbar. This effects Linux guest, but not windows guests. I can start Win7 in a VM and opening in remote-desktop works just fine. (all mouse buttons work fine and the cursor position tracks properly bringing up the auto-hidden taskbar on mouseover) Can someone with a similar VirtualBox setup confirm this behavior? I suspect it would effect any Linux Guest that runs X and a desktop and is accessed with rdesktop. For all practical purposes this update prevent accessing Linux guest with rdesktop. -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E. Hi David + List Same behaviour for me. I resolved it by installing the synaptics input driver in the guest for now as I did not have time to debug. BR I have the same behaviour on my Arch Linux guest, but for me both right- and left-click do not work. I have had to downgrade the kernel and the VirtualBox guest modules. Regards, Gurnaik
