Scott,

Its not your fault, the fact is that companies are probably taking advantage
of the market but the reason they continue to demand what they want at this
kind of rate is because there are people they can find at that rate..

In honor of Remedy 7.0 and all its quirks that have led users to madness, I
composed a song. It is called Remedyville and is sung to the tune of Jimmy
Buffet's Margaritaville

Management told me

I had to use Remedy

Sent me to training for half a day

This system is quirky

The instructions are murky

To get through this I'll have to pray

Wastin' my time again down in Remedyville

Looking for the data I lost

Some people say that there's

a virus to blame

But I know, it's Remedy's fault.

Brought down my desktop

Blew up my laptop

Called the help desk, they put me on hold

But there's a fresh pot of java

That's as thick as lava

That'll help through this Or so I'm told

Wastin' my time again down in Remedyville

Looking for the data I lost

Some people say that there's

a virus to blame

But I know, it's Remedy's fault.

Folks on the 3rd floor

Can't take it no more

This new program Is bringing them down

Can't make no progress

Can't make any changes

Maybe their hiring somewhere downtown

Wastin' my time again down in Remedyville

Looking for the data I lost

Some people say that there's

But I know, it's Remedy's fault.

You know, you all are right from your stand point. How I see it is, A client
knows what it wants the best. I would suggest the same thing you said, but
they are the final decision makers.

My only point is that if every client started hiring highly experienced
candidates what about the ones that have just started their career. I
constantly used to hear this from my candidates.

I know why you are all saying what you are but unfortunately the fact is
that the economy is facing something really serious and I as a recruiter
have seen it affect all areas of technology. I definitely hope it gets
better soon. Funny thing is that, companies are still hiring but the price
they are willing to pay has take downward swing for known reasons!

That depends on what type of work is required. If they want a junior
resource for data entry or something like that, then it could be ok.

Also keep in mind that some recruiting firms are getting their job
requirements from other firms, who are getting it from other firms, and so
on. This is how you get a client paying $200/hour or more and expecting a
decent Remedy developer, while the developer gets paid $50/hour and
doesn't even know the difference between an Active Link and Filter, and
thinks ITIL is what they do before planting a garden.

For the person with the job requirement that started this conversation, my
suggestion would be not to ask for four people at a mediocre rate, but
rather to combine the positions, perhaps bringing in two people, paying one
person $115/hour and the other $85/hour. That can still be lower than what
I've seen, but you can get much better quality folks that way.

**

Here is what I have collected on the subject:

BMC has defect SW00280511 and will get fixed with Patch009 of the Task
Management System 7.0.03.

Scenario

A user created a Change with lots of tasks and changed the status of the
first task to ?Closed? (probably over the Cancel button). When the Change
went into ?Implementation in Progress? the second Task did not changed to
?Pending? and is still in ?Staged?. Which means that this Change got stuck.

When we try to set a new status manually, following error massage appears:

This task (or group) must be activated (from the parent) before it can be
changed to the status: Assigned (ARERR 45093)

Here is the work around

1. Open the Change Request and identify the tasks that are in a closed
status and status reason = cancelled. Note down the change request id and
the task ids.
2. Open the TMS:AssocSummaryDataJoin form and search where the
RootRequestName = Change Request Id.
3. Find the tasks that were closed (cancelled) and change the sequence to
the last sequence i.e. this task(s) should have a sequence higher than the
other tasks associated to the change. Also change the status to Staged. Save

4. Go to the change form and select the tasks that need to be trigerred and
click on the sequence up button. This should change the sequence number on
the task and it should go into the assigned status.
5. Go back to the TMS:AssocSummaryDataJoin form and change the status of the
tasks that were modified (the cancelled tasks only) to closed.

OR try

1. Open the Change Request and identify the tasks that are in a closed
status and status reason = cancelled. Note down the change request id and
the task ids.
2. Open the TMS:AssocSummaryDataJoin form and search where the
RootRequestName = Change Request Id.
3. Find the tasks that were closed (cancelled) and change the sequence to
the last sequence i.e. this task(s) should have a sequence higher than the

5. Select the tasks that need to be trigerred and click on the sequence up
button. This should change the sequence number on the task and it should go
into the assigned status.
5. Go back to the TMS:AssocSummaryDataJoin form and change the status of the
