Re: Java for ARS Install?
Jason, While the core Remedy doesn't require it, plugins installed during the Remedy install DO require it. Re: Java for ARS Install?
The core ARS does not need Java (yet). The Email Engine does and so does Mid Tier (actually the JSP engine does). The reliance on Java is constantly increasing and in some cases where it is not needed today it will be needed in the future. You might as well plan on installing Java on everything except you DB server (at least for MS SQL Server). Hi, Which version of java you are using currently? ARS 7.x, 8.x supports Java > 1.5 version. Regards, Rajkumar Padole. Re: Java for ARS Install?
Well...I don't recall exactly when the Java plugin server started being used for some plugins instead of C by defaultI'm pretty sure that the web services plugin turned Java in 7.6.04I know the LDAP one is Java in 8.1even with no ITSM you have ootb ones that are in usefor most of the Java plugins there are C alternatives still available...so 'need' is a relative termbut for standard config, yes it's needed as early as 7.6.04, maybe earlier. Re: Java for ARS Install?
Raj, Many plugins to Remedy are now Java based, so all 3 components you mention are now in need of Java. Java for ARS Install?
Hi All, Looking at the compatibility matrix for ARS 7.6.04, 8.0, 8.1 and it lists minimum version of Java supported. Just wanted to clarify, is Java only needed for Midtier and Email Engine or it is also needed for ARS Install? As we plan to install ARS, Email Engine, Midtier on all separate servers/VMs. Please advise.
