This thought had crossed my mind, but I wanted to avoid the pain associated
with getting this up and running on OS X. That and I didn't want to maintain a
local install of artiq on every computer I work from (like my personal laptop).
I am open to the idea though.

For anyone else interested in this topic, I think this is a problem specific to
the X11 implementation for OS X, XQuartz. I see the problem on two different
computers, but I had no problems on windows 7 when running with Putty and Xming
(for X11).

If I can find another program that exhibits this issue (possibly something with
a GUI implementation using Qt), I could file a bug report with XQuartz.

What about running the ARTIQ GUI locally and passing the connections to
the ARTIQ master over SSH or VPN? This will result in maximum
responsivity and minimum network bandwidth usage. There is nothing that
fundamentally prevents ARTIQ GUI from running on OS X, though there will
certainly be significant trouble (compiling/installing Qt, bugs, etc.)

Hi,

Have you tried VNC? X is a flawed protocol that rarely works.
