[AspClassicAnyQuestionIsOk] Re: Page not responding at the .Open method of ADODB.Connection

2005-12-22 Thread Ade Sidabutar
Hi, thanks for the advice, unfortunately I have already
  uncheck the Show friendly http error messages
  setting, and the error message is just the same.
  For more information, sometime it became
  blank browser with neverending waiting state
  (hourglass cursor).
  May be there is something I have missed?
  Please help me with the solution.
  Thanks so much.
  Ade.

[AspClassicAnyQuestionIsOk] Re: Page not responding at the .Open method of ADODB.Connection

2005-12-20 Thread Ade Sidabutar
Hi,
  I have checked the references, and it seems no problem with
  connection string. Below is the ASP source code:

  public objConnection

Set objConnection = Server.CreateObject(ADODB.Connection)
With objConnection
 .ConnectionString = Provider=MSDAORA; Data Source=Oracle01;   _

 User ID=dbtest; Password=test01;
 .Open
  End With

and at the .Open method of the source code,
  it always came up with long waiting state for about some hours
and it finally ended with this error.
  Page cannot be displayed ... Cannot find server or DNS error.
  I think there is no problem with the connection string and
  database setting since I have tested the source code above using
  Visual Basic (the CreateObject statement is used instead of
  Server.CreateObject) and it run well.

  Please help... thanks so much in advance.

  Ade.

us the one I meant to point you to.

Yoau may want to compare your connection string to
http://www.connectionstrings.com

and read up on
http://www.learnasp.com/freebook/asp/FAQOracleconnect.aspx

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/AspClassicOracle/
may have some good answers too. They only do Oracle there with ASP

  Thank's so much for your reply! I've tried the code

cnn1.open strDSN
it still always came up with neverending blank browser.
Can you give me the solution? Thank you!
