[asterisk-users] Voicemail hangup by gateway?

2006-12-24 Thread Martin Joseph

Hi,

I have a spiffy new gateway which seems quite promising.

It's the Audiocodes MP114 FXS_FXO (2 of each).

I have got it configured and working reasonably well, but have a couple
of issues.

1) Asterisk 1.2.13 voicemail seems to be hung up on by the gateway
after 10 seconds. This isn't asterisk saying it's quiet for 10
seconds, it's the gateway deciding it's time to go by by.

2) I am still working on tuning the volume parameters to get minimum
echo and maximum audio.

This gateway is much more stable and workable then either of the other
options I have struggled with. It works the way it should, and
continues to do so (novel).

Thanks for any ideas/experiences/help with the above.
Marty

PS Yes I have a call in to the vendor also, but hope someone here has
ideas too.

Hi Dovid,

I am actually now working on massproducing door

This is an old message, but I was wondering if you are still doing this,

I tried getting something similar, but I got stuck with two points:

- For MeetMe you need a timing source. I do not have a ZAP card, and
cannot install ztdummy at the moment (non-modular kernel).

- You can spy to a channel that is connected to voicemail. You will
listen in to the announcement leave a message, and the noise from the
other end of the line as well, up to the point where recording starts -
that moment, the line goes dead. Whyever. I posted a while ago about
this and did not get response.

So I put Live Voicemail aside for a while, getting to the more important
things in life, like buying christmas presents.

Have a few peaceful, relaxing days everyone, and a Merry Christmas!

If you have never seen a debian compiled asterisk that can't transcode

iLBC is not compatible with GPL code. So, if you are using GPL code,
such as MySQL or spandsp, with your Asterisk, you should not be using
iLBC at the same time.

It's because 600 will match _XX.

Why don't you just use the 's' extension, instead of '_XX.'?

Because the s extension is only matched when there is NO dialed number.
My bad for not being clear. I meant that he should send his incoming
calls to the 's' extensions and do a WaitExten in 's'.

Extension i is designed for use within an IVR.

We use 4 digit extensions and use exten = _,1,Whatever to match
invalid extensions.

If Iam doing UPDATE SQL statements I got an overload for connection.

any idea?

You must clear the resut ID and also issue a disconnect to the
connection ID, see priority 4 and 5.

exten = _X.,1,MYSQL(Connect connid 10.10.10.110 asteriskdb password db)
exten = _X.,2,MYSQL(Query resultid ${connid} SELECT\ fullcontact\
from\ sip\ where\ name=${EXTEN})
exten = _X.,3,MYSQL(Fetch fetchid ${resultid} var1)
exten = _X.,4,MYSQL(Clear ${resultid})
exten = _X.,5,MYSQL(Disconnect ${connid})
exten = _X.,6,GotoIf($[${var1} = ]?invalid,i,1:${EXTEN},8)
exten = _X.,8,Set(direct=${var1:4}) ;(strip off 'sip:' from fullcontact info)
exten = _X.,9,Dial(SIP/${direct},15,r)
exten = _X.,10,Goto(sendtovm,${EXTEN},1)
exten = _X.,11,Hangup

Or a simpler method is to setup realtime access to the database and
use the realtime cmd, this will control the mysql access and you won't
have to worry about the connections.

It's crippled the same way. pkg-voip.buildserver.net builds packages

is an error that should be fixed.

 I use Debian too (sarge), and I got ilibc for nothing ...

The Sarge Asterisk package did include ilbc. It was acknowldged as a
licensing problem in the Etch cycle (not sure exactly when).

 A quick check on
 the sources shows it's included with Asterisk, so shouldn't depend on
 anything Debian has (or hasn't) got, other than a C compiler... Maybe you
 are using Debians packaged version? I don't, but prefer to compile my own.

You can find the code that strips potentially problematic code (in the
eyes of Debian/debian-legal) from the Asterisk tarball in the target
get-orig-source of the debian/rules file of the package Asterisk:

Re: [asterisk-users] The Good, Bad and Scam VoIP Providers

2006-12-24 Thread Al Bochter

So I will try get you on my point of the message!

So if you get a VoIP Provider that states on there web site that they
will give you unlimited use for $7.95 per month.

You start to use there service and your VoIP service stops working after
20 days and you contract the provider

and the provider states that you ran over you limit for the month..

You tell the provider that you had the unlimited plan for $7.95 per month
Then the provider states well unlimited is only 1500 minutes per month

Now is a my point of The Good, Bad and Scam VoIP Providers
And I never named any providers and I do have a few.

Definitions of *unlimited* on the Web:

# having no limits in range or scope; to start with a theory of unlimited
freedom is to end up with unlimited despotism- Philip Rahv; the
limitless reaches of outer space

# outright: without reservation or exception
# inexhaustible: that cannot be entirely consumed or used up; an
inexhaustible supply of coal

I understand that.

But from my standing that would be a scam and a rip off
And I do understand that the providers are buying minutes in bulk

When the provider states unlimited then the service should be without

RE: [asterisk-users] Escalate Call To Mobile

2006-12-24 Thread Jerry
 Thanks, this it seems was what the problem was. Is it possible to
 specify number of rings instead of timeout in seconds?

Short answer: no.

Longer answer: kind of.

As alluded to here:
 Also the timeout to Dial is in SECONDS, not RINGS. In the USA a ring
 cycle is about 6 seconds.

You can approximate how many rings have happened. But, the indication that
is sent to you (the ring you hear when you are calling someone) isn't
synced with ringing of the target phone (which has to do with the far end
ring generator, if I recall right), there is no way to be sure.

So, at the end of six seconds of ringing, you are sure that the phone
has rung at least once. It might not have started until late in the cycle,
or you might have caught the tail end of one cycle and it's already
starting to ring a second time.

So, if you wanted to make sure it rings 5 times (in the USA), you have to
let it ring for a minimum of 30 seconds.

If it's easier, you could set this up as a variable called RINGCYCLE and
just multiply your rings by it, like so:

exten = _NXXNXX,1,SetVar(RINGCYCLE=6)
exten = _NXXNXX,2,Dial(Sip/Provider/{EXTEN},$[${RINGCYCLE}*2])

(I think you could make RINGCYCLE a global var, but check to be sure).

Hope that helps,
J.

Re: [asterisk-users] The Good, Bad and Scam VoIP Providers

2006-12-24 Thread Peter Bowyer

Oh no, the game's up - Al's found my IP address. Wait - no he hasn't -
he's found an IP address that belongs to McAfee Security in Spain -
with whom I have no connection at all. (Hint: whois ip address)

Those PI classes really paid off, Al. Supposing you had managed to
find out one of my IP addresses (which isn't really too hard, I have
NIC handles at ARIN and RIPE, and hold addresses on behalf of more
than one major organisation), what were you going to do with it?

I'm done with this. I thought we were discussing VoIP provider scams?

You know, I'd deal with a professional like Bret a thousand times
before I considered dealing with a mom-and-pop lemonade stall like
you. And this kind of posting will only move you further down the
list.

I do not agree. Certain parties may use this paper trail to file

This is my last post about this, but I cannot let serious attacks and
allegations against good community members go unchecked.

Yes it is off the topic of Asterisk-Users in such that it has nothing
to do with Asterisk technically speaking, yet, it is totally on topic
because this is a community made up of Asterisk-Users.

Thanks,

Al,

While I don't disagree with some of your points, the fact is that when you
post, often it DOES sound like you're trying to sell, whether you

 Interesting, I've been running asterisk (v1.2.10) on an SMP system
 (dual Xeon 2.66Ghz) with several MeetMe conference rooms for quite a
 while now. The server has a current uptime of 24 days (moved the system
 to a new UPS). I have not experienced the crashes you reference.

Are either of you running hyperthreading?

I am currently running many meetme rooms on several Hyperthreading
servers as SMP. Haven't had any issues at all with them.

I now suspect the DL380's. Others have said they were running HT and SMP
systems without incident.

I stil haven't had a crash since I booted the non-SMP kernel :)

Matt, can you reply with the server model numbers you are using? I'm going

I build most of my servers myself with Asus motherboards. I have used
8 different models of Asus motherboards and they all work great.
