RE: [Asterisk-Users] Linux basics
I have had good luck with Slackware. You can really use any distribution as long as it fulfils the requirements. I have looked around quite a bit but I haven't found much information on the Linux part. I know you need to put Linux on the PC first but what version or flavor of Linux do you recommend? I contacted Red Hat and they had not heard of Asterisk and they said Asterisk is not certified for Red Hat. Are there any Linux installation instructions that you would recommend? If there are any other getting started suggestions, I sure would appreciate it. Thanks, Jim Guy Billings, MT Do you Yahoo!? Read only the mail you want - Yahoo! RE: [Asterisk-Users] Very odd musiconhold
I had that problem, so I checked my mpg123, I found it was a symlink to mpg321, so I got the latest mpg123 and installed it (http://www.mpg123.de/) And now it works beautifully. So try that out. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of DB Sent: Thursday, December 02, 2004 4:03 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [Asterisk-Users] Very odd musiconhold I've followed the docs on how to configure musiconhold. I then added an extension to test it like this: exten = 6601,1,WaitMusicOnHold(30) And when I dial that extension I do hear something for 30 seconds - but it is not what I'd call music... it sounds more like the sound effects from a scifi flick - now and then it sounds like jail cell doors closing and echoing. Kinda cool but not what I expected and it would probably confuse or scare customers. I see no errors displayed on Asterisk's CLI nor anything that I could find in logs. I tried downloading another mp3 and got the same odd sounds. Any ideas ?? [Asterisk-Users] Polycom IP500
Hey All, First Time Writing. I'm trying to set up my IP500 phones to register SIP with *. I input all the (I assume) correct data in to the fields on the Web Interface. And I get no notification that the phone is even attempting to register, no failed messages etc. I have read that the Web interface is crap and the XML config files is the way to go. Does anyone have a basic config file that doesnt change any defaults? I couldn't seem to find one. Extra Info: Server is 192.168.0.3 Phone name/ext I want to be 301 Thanks, Chris Cherry -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus.
