[Asterisk-Users] Sipura 2100

2006-04-13 Thread Darrell Long
I am wondering if anyone has sample XML config for the Sipura 2100 ATA.
We have been autoprovisioning our 2002s with success and the 2100's take
the same XML that we have come up with, but I am not sure of the syntax
for specific things that I need these boxes to do, such as turning T.38 on.

If anyone is willing to share their xml for autoprovisioning Sipura
2100's, it would be much appreciated.

Best,

We had a similar problem. Try turning relaxed DTMF off.

number of ways on the list, and never get a response...

Thank you.

Re: [Asterisk-Users] transforming g729 files to wav files

2006-04-05 Thread Darrell Long
The resulting file is not going to sound any better and its going to
take up more space. What is the reason you need a WAV file? Perhaps
there is a more efficient way to do what you are trying to do.

is there any open-source software that recodes g729 sound files to wav

The only way (at least) to do such transformation is with interactive

Re: [Asterisk-Users] Receptionist Phones (was 3Com Phones)

2006-03-27 Thread Darrell Long
We would be interested in the same. We have had only limited success
getting Snom's phones to do this. And, you're right, this is such a
common thing, there MUST be something out there that can do the job.

Thanks for all the comments on the 3Com phones. Thankfully, there is a
large number of phones out there to dig through looking for the right
solution.

What I have not been able to find, after spending all weekend looking,
is a good solution for an attendant console. We have 2 receptionists
that need to be able to view all 60+ phones (we could probably weed it
down a bit if we had to, but would like to be able to cover all the
phones) and see who is on the phone already. I would like to avoid a
software solution as those tend to be confusing and hard for
non-computer savvy people to deal with. I have seen that the polycom
setup (601+sidecar) works but only for up to 7 phones.

Does anybody have a recommendation for a solution for this? I find it
hard to believe that nobody makes a compatible phone (or add-on) that
is compatible with Asterisk. It seems like such a common thing.

Re: [Asterisk-Users] Receptionist Phones

2006-03-27 Thread Darrell Long
Do you have experience with the Snom phones? We have not had much
success getting them to work under Asterisk as a receptionist phone.
Specifically, the ability to monitor and pick up calls ringing on other
extensions has been a problem.

Yes, I keep reading on the mailing list archives and the wikis that
(wether or not it is indeed a Asterisk issue) Polycom keeps saying
that an issue with Asterisk prevents you from monitoring more than 7
total (not per sidecar) extensions.

From what I've seen, each sidecar supports up to 14 additional
stations. Three of those along with the 5 buttons on the 601 comes up
to 47 on my calculator. Is there a known problem with the 601+sidecars
and * that prevents the user from being able to monitor more than 7
extensions?

Just curious as I've been leaning toward this for our receptionist as
well (only 12 extensions to monitor...)

Re: [Asterisk-Users] Best ATA for general residential deployment??

2006-02-22 Thread Darrell Long
There is sample XML from Sipura for the 841 and 941 Phones. If you use
that as a guide, you should be able to generate XML for any of the ATA
boxes and then you just need to set up a server for the boxes to get
their configs from. We have been doing it with pretty good success for
the 841, 941, 2100 and 2002s.

if it needs updates. The devices run around $60 a piece, so they are
pretty cheap as well.

RE the remote provisioning, did you have to pay some sort of license
fee to get access to the tools to generate the remote provisioning
configurations and instructions on setting it all up?

I have 12 x PAP2-NA/SPA-2002 and changing one setting means going
around and changing all the settings for each line of the 12 ATAs,
that's 24 configuration changes in total - a real PITA. If you know of
a way to obtain the tools to do the remote provisioning, I'd be
grateful!

Thanks,

Correct. The XML works fine. If you need an example for the 2002, I will
see if I can strip the information directly related to our company off
and send it to you.

Yes.. there are provisioning tools that you have to get.
Unfortunately it's this catch 22 loop. You have to prove that you can

offer 200+ ATAs to customers, or you can't get the tools, but yet, you
don't really want to offer those ATAs to the customer's without having
the tools.

At any rate... the config is basically one large XML file. I wrote
my own interface to generate the XML files. We did get ahold of the
provisioning tools to generate the XML files.

Unfortunately, I don't think I'm allowed to give the tools out (some
odd license). However, if you contact a distributor such as
voipsupply, and tell them you plan to purchase XYZ amount, they may
have some sort of deal they can work with Sipura/Linksys to get you
the tools. I'd check there.

If nothing else works, I don't think it would be illegal for me to
send you an XML file for the SPA-2002. At that point you'd know what
it is looking for and you could generate your own XML files. The only
thing you couldn't do would be generate the 'sipura binary config
files'... but you don't have to use those (As the XML works just
fine).

[Asterisk-Users] Asterisk and Snom 360

2006-02-14 Thread Darrell Long
Is anyone using the SNOM 360 as a reception console with Asterisk? We
are trying to have the ability to view whether an extension is on or off
hook, or ringing with the Snom, which seems to work fine. The issue is
that we are having difficulty picking up calls and transferring.

Anyone have experience / insight?

[Asterisk-Users] Fax with Asterisk and Sipura 2100

2006-01-05 Thread Darrell Long
I know the subject of faxing has been covered in some detail, but I was
wondering if anyone has a hardware configuration similar to ours that
has faxes working successfully and would be willing to share any
settings/insight.

We are unable to fax reliably with a Sipura 2100 connected to Asterisk.
We do not route calls over the Internet and our network has very low
latency. The Asterisk servers connect to Cisco Routers that have PRIs
from various carriers. We have all the recommended settings in the
Sipura ATA, with Echo Cancellation and Silence Suppression off, uLaw
only for the codec, etc.

While I realize that no faxes going through passthrough like this will
work 100% of the time, we currently have a less than 40% success rate
with inbound faxes being the worst.

Any insight anyone has would be greatly appreciated!

Best Regards,
