[Asterisk-Users] Cisco 7960 Line rollover for secretary's phone.
Hi folks. I attempting to set up a Cisco 7960 (SIP) so that if the user is on a call, other incoming calls will ring through to her phone and can be answered. So far I have only been able to get this working by using the call-waiting function, which is cumbersome and does not properly allow the first call to be retreived. Is there a better way to do this? Thanks in advance. [Asterisk-Users] SIP Phone Recommendations?
Hi all. I'm in the process of putting together a new Asterisk system as a proof-of-concept, and wanted to see which SIP phones all of you had the best luck using with Asterisk. I've just come off a very trying experience with some Cisco 7960s, and am looking for something else to round out the phones on our network. This is a small setup, for no more than 20 users total. We need at least one of them to be a receptionist phone, the sort that calls can be routed from throughout the network, and then several more garden-variety handsets for regular users. A couple of el-cheapos to stick in out-of -the-way, little used spots would also be nice, if there are any good ones out there. Any phones that you've loved? Any that you've hated? Your input will be most welcome. Re: [Asterisk-Users] Cisco 7960 Can't be unlocked
OK...now that I've been able to get in to the phones, I have (yet another) strange problem: I've configured the phone with a Static IP for testing. TFTP server settings are pointed at a known good TFTP server that other machines on the network are able to access and GET files from. When the phone boots up, it will appear on the network for about 5 pings worth of time, and then dissappear, only to reappear about 20 pings later. The phone's status message indicates a tftp server timeout. My tftp server's logs do not indicate any TFTP activity. The phones are Fw ver 3.1 MF.G2. (SCCP) I'm trying to convert them to SIP (obviously.) Any help will be greatly appreciated. Re: [Asterisk-Users] Cisco contract for 7940/7960 firmware access
I will second thatI tried to get the firmware in a legitimate fashion, but Cicso just made it too difficult. I was happy to pay for it...why they couldn't just run a little e-commerce site for distribution is anyone's guess. I purchased a cisco 7960 off ebay and needed to convert to SIP for *. I know * supports SCCP but I wont go into that here. I'd read on voip-info.org that a contract could be purchased for approx $8 to allow me to download the firmware. I though, being in the UK, i'd get one through a reseller in the UK. What a shock! Apparently, the $8 ( 5 ) contract is no longer available and the cheapest contract they provide with firmware download access is about 56 ( $104 ). Just like to say thanks to the kind soul who helped me out with the firmware ( you know who you are! ). Just waiting A WEEK for the email from cisco with my contract number and then I'll have to wait ANOTHER WEEK while they verify the number that THEY are sending me!
