[asterisk-users] Restrict International Calls

2007-01-11 Thread Julian Varanini
Hi,

Does anyone have a good example of how to restrict International calls to only
certain users? I have been messing around with contexts in the extensions.conf
file with no success.

Thanks

[asterisk-users] Modprobe Zaptel

2006-11-29 Thread Julian Varanini

Hi all

For some dumb reason I decided to upgrade from Mandriva 2006 to 2007, thinking
I could install asterisk all over again. Anyway I did install asterisk, zaptel
and libpri. After install I ran modprobe zaptel which said zaptel not found.
Thanks to help on this mailing list I had a fix to this problem and edited the
Makefile located in /usr/src/linux/ to read -6mdv (instead of -6mdvcustom)
which matched the uname -r.

Then I installed zaptel again and the drivers were still installed in
/lib/modules/2.6.17-6mdvcustom and not /lib/modules/2.6.17-6mdv.
After many reinstalls and reboots I could not find why they were still moved to
that location, so I just moved them from -6mdvcustom to -6mdv and modprobe
zaptel did not display any errors.

However I needed to run modprobe wcte11xp for it to actually load the driver,
when I did not need to do this in 2006

Does anyone know why this is?
I can get it all to start up at boot using rc.local, but when I installed
zaptel on Mandriva 2006 it loaded at boot on its own.

Still in noob territory,

Thanks,

Julian ___

[asterisk-users] Mediatrix 1204 and Asterisk 1.2.10

2006-08-04 Thread Julian Varanini

Hi Again,

I thought I would repost in case some people missed it. I am currently set up with asterisk 1.2.10 on Mandriva 2006 using a Mediatrix 1204 as our media gateway. Everything works well during the day. However something occursduring the evening when the system is not in use that causes the communication between theMediatrix and Asterisk server to break down. However, when I reboot the mediatrix everything is fine. I have recently upgraded the firmware on the mediatrix but thatdid not provide any solution. I apologize about the vague issue but the logs do not seem to be providing any clue as to what happens. I have a syslog server for the mediatrix and it is not showing anything out of the ordinary.

Thanks

[asterisk-users] Polycom IP301 and Queue questions, deployed environments

2006-07-20 Thread Julian Varanini

Hi List,

1. Has anyone thought of another way to show a user their login status? I am hesitant to start using a branch of code that has not been officially released yet. I am using 1.2.10 and the latest Polycom firmware.
2. How do I configure a soft button in the polycom phone for login and logout?
3. If a queue reps do not answer how do I forward or give the choice for the customer to be forwarded to voicemail?

Does anyone use asterisk to support a large call center? I am having some mixed feelings about it. So I am curious to see what environments people have deployed this in.

Thanks

If it was downloaded from SVN then you can just type make update in the
 directory.

If it was a .tar.gz download then you will need to reinstall. I would
recommend using the 1.2 branch of SVN as it means you don't have to wait
for the releases to get the bugfixes.

Hi Doug,

I thought of that as well. I am not a total n00b with Mandriva, just enough to be dangerous. Do you have any walk throughs that I could use as a guide? Do you create an asterisk user for it to run under? What other software should I install in order for it to not only compile properly but also for asterisk to run.

Thanks

Julian

However when I put someone on hold the music does not play
I am using the Polycom Soundstation IP301 and X-lite phones.

Did you do 'make mpg123' at the time of Asterisk installation? And do you have ztdummy installed if you don't have digium hardware?

If you didn't do these steps, let me know and I'll send you step by step instructions how to install Asterisk properly. It took me months to learn how to make everything work and now I've step by step installation instructions which work perfectly well for me.
