We've got one of the Budgetone phones here, and we can call from any

the
Budgetone and dial an outside line or another SIP phone the person on
the
Budgeton just sounds really choppy and there is a slight delay. We've
messed
with settings and tried each codec individually all with the same
results.
There is no problem with the network that the phone is on, its private

missing
something. Calls to/from software SIP phones and a POTS phone sound
great

having problems with. Has anyone run into this before or can anyone
point
me to any additional settings i can tweak ether on the phone or in
asterisk?

 Thanks much.

Can you send an example of your sip.conf for the GS phone to the list?
If you have debugging on you might look through the debug log and see
how the call is set up. Sounds like a codec problem.

RE: [Asterisk-Users] Bad echo on outgoing calls

2003-11-16 Thread Larry Black
Sorry I was not blameing the hardware I feel it is a problem with
something I am doing I am very new to this I realy want this phone to
work as they are the only cost effective Hardware sip phone I have
found.

The echo is a local echo on the phone and the user I dial gets choppy
sound.

Also on the budgetone phone calls to other sip phones sounds like a
robot and is very choppy on outgoing calls.

What codec? What kind of network topology? How loaded is your LAN or
WAN
connection? I have zero problems with over-internet BT101 to BT101
connections, as well as BT101 to Packet8 and other SIP providers.

Don't be so quick to blame the hardware; these devices are everywhere
and
you would think that a problem as serious as you are describing would
cause
a problem in selling these devices.

Andrew

[Asterisk-Users] Modem as an extention

2003-11-07 Thread Larry Black
I am very new to this but can a modem be an extension I have a situation
where a customer is having to pay for Telco co-lines at several tower
locations where he has High-speed IP. He uses this line for 3 reasons 1
alarm system to call out which is easy I think if I am reading it right
but he also dials into a modem can I have his modem just dial an
extension and get another modem to answer and work without the physical
Telco line.
