[asterisk-users] foneBRIDGE2 setup
Hi I've published my Asterisk/foneBRIDGE2/heartbeat setup: config files, scripts... along with a brief description of the architecture and working of the cluster. It's available here: http://www.bisente.com/blog/2007/08/26/asterisk-cluster-fonebridge2/? lan=english Hope somebody finds it useful. :) Regards -- Vicente Aguilar [EMAIL PROTECTED] | http://www.bisente.com Valquirias: Cómics, manga, cosplay, ciencia-ficción, merchandising... http://www.valquirias.com | http://blogs.valquirias.com ___ --Bandwidth and Colocation Provided by http://www.api-digital.com-- asterisk-users mailing list To UNSUBSCRIBE or update options visit: http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users

[asterisk-users] Daemontools and holidays macro
Hi I've recently released the daemontools scripts I use to run both Asterisk and Flash Operator Panel, and a macro to tell whether today is a holiday or not and jump to different dialplan places accordingly. They are here: daemontools scripts: http://www.bisente.com/blog/2007/04/27/spanish-asterisk-y-daemontools-spanishenglish-asterisk-and-daemontools-english/?lan=english is-holiday macro: http://www.bisente.com/blog/2007/04/30/asterisk-holidays/?lan=english Hope you find them useful. Re: [asterisk-users] Poor man's High Availability solution
Hi We've got a redfone here and it's working great so far, despite all the TDMoE bad press. The 4-span version is slightly more expensive than a TE410P, so in the end it's gonna be a more affordable solution as you'd need two digium cards (plus maybe the ISDN guard). The downside is that it doesn't have echo cancellation, so you'll have to do it via software while some cards do it on hardware (faster, better, less CPU-intensive...) I'm thinking of 2 different solutions: - 2 servers configured with Heartbeat + DRBD (drbd mainly for voicemail) and the E1 span plugged to the 2 servers (with a TE410P in each server). - 2 servers configures with Heartbeat + DRBD with the E1 span hooked to an ISDN guard connected to the main server and the backup one. Here comes the real question. Is it technically good to connect an E1 span to 2 cards at the same time (with only one accepting the calls). Since it is possible with BRI cards, i'm wondering if it could be done with PRI. Re: [asterisk-users] Asterisk Hangups on PRI Interface
Hi I have a similar problem with PRI where some numbers cannot be called. I'm still analyzing the problem. Does it happen randomly or you have some numbers you can as it is for me? We have the same problem you're reporting, Giorgio. Some numbers, mostly PBXs of other companies and sometimes some mobile phones, can't be reached through Asterisk, while they do answer when called from a mobile or an external line (I mean, not managed by Asterisk). The logs show a channel hangup, just like in Sahil's report. Some data: - Debian Sarge, default 2.6.8-3-686-smp kernel - Digium's TE210P, one interface connected to a Telefonica de España's T1 line and the other one to our legacy PBX - Asterisk 1.2.12.1, Zaptel 1.2.9.1, all compiled from scratch (have always had the issue, with several previous versions) - FreePBX 2.1.3 + some manual tweaks Any idea as to tests to do in order to pin-point and solve the problem will be appreciated. We're still using mostly analog phones connected to the legacy PBX, and starting to play around with a couple of VoIP phones. But I've experienced other problems when both analog and SIP phones are involved in the same call (transfering calls from an analog phone to a SIP one usually fails). I'll try as soon as possible. -- Vicente Aguilar [EMAIL PROTECTED] Departamento de Sistemas Tlf.: 965 98 71 92 Recursos en la Red, S.L.U. http://www.renr.es ___ --Bandwidth and Colocation provided by Easynews.com -- asterisk-users mailing list To UNSUBSCRIBE or update options visit: http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users
[asterisk-users] High Availability with PRI failover
Hi After a month or so using Asterisk we've had or first downtime period due to a faulty RAM chip on the server, so we're starting to think about the possible high-availability solutions. We still haven't gone completely VoIP: we're using Asterisk in conjunction with our old PBX and analog handsets, placing calls via a PRI. No outgoing SIP calls yet and just a copule of VoIP local terminals for testing, Asterisk is currently handling the advanced services like call center queues, conference rooms, voicemail, time-based call forwardings and the like. Our current setup looks like this, using a TE210P (2xPRI) card on the server: Telco --PRI-- Asterisk --PRI-- Legacy PBX In the event of another server failure, we don't see the real problem as having several servers and doing failover between them (been there, done that), but physically (and automatically!) plugging both PRIs to the active server. As far as I can tell, we've got two options: 1) Use some kind of physical layer switch on the E1 lines, like the Jughanns ISDNguard or any of the other products referenced on the voip-wiki, like this: +-- Asterisk 1 --+ Telco -PRI- SWITCH SWITCH -PRI- PBX +-- Asterisk 2 --+ We would need to boy the switch(es?), and one TE210P per Asterisk server. And this option would only handle an active/passive server scenario, if we needed to scale up in capacity these switches wouldn't fit on a load-balancing setup, am I wrong? 2) Use a Redfone's foneBRIDGE and heartbeat/ultramonkey/whatever to manage the automatic failover between the different Asterisk servers, like in: Telco --PRI-++- Asterisk 1 foneBRIDGE -- TCP/IP -- Asterisk 2 Legacy PBX --PRI-++- Asterisk n I prefer this option, conceptually it looks simpler and the total price wouldn't increase if we need more servers. Besides, the price of one foneBRIDGE is similar to that of one ISDNguard plus two TE210P, so the cost of the simplest case (2 Asterisk servers) is almost the same for both options. Anybody has first-hand experience with any (or both) of these options? Are there any other possibilites that I'm missing? Some other foneBRIDGE-like product I still haven't heard of?
