[asterisk-users] Ready to put the box on the net

2009-05-11 Thread k4rjj

I loaded PBX in a flash and I have a simple dialplan setup. I'm guessing this needs to go on the DMZ of my router for anyone to get to it correct? Is there any way to keep it behind the router and map to it or is that more trouble than it is worth? Thanks!Ronny

Re: [asterisk-users] WiFi SIP phone w/VPN?

2009-02-13 Thread k4rjj

Ken I was thinking the same thing tonight. I have a Palm Treo 750 (ATT) that is not used anymore. There is one card to add WiFi to it. After that I need to find a SIP client for Windows mobile 5. Any ideas? These phones are cheap and the WiFi card is about $35-40 + shipping.

Subject: [asterisk-users] WiFi SIP phone w/VPN?

Hi, all. My subject line says it all: is there a WiFi SIP phone with VPN
abilities? Failing that, a WiFi phone that runs Linux? I already know
one phone that does meet my requirements -- the iPhone. The new software
comes with a Cisco VPN client, and a SIP client can be had from
third-party vendors for jailbroken phones. And, while I'm not averse to
the idea,
a) it ain't cheap, and
b) it's a bit hack.

I've googled my heart out, but haven't found anything else that (I'm sure)
meets all three requirements.

Thanks!

-Ken

I'm trying to do the same and have read the mentioned sites. The one item I can't seem to get past is a working TFTP server. What is the easiest method to get one running and what packages in Linux or Windows work best? Thanks for putting up with a Linux newbie. Ronny

  You

Re: [asterisk-users] Good comparisons on cheaper VOIP phones

Anyone know if the Cisco 7940 would work?Ronny

-- Original message from "Mikel Lindsaar" raasd...@gmail.com: --

Hello list,
I am doing some work for a non profit group. As part of this, I am going to be putting in a 30 handset Asterisk solution. We are trying to keep the costs down as much as possible, as this job includes cabling, I am looking at POE solutions.
On the switch side, I am considering something like some Netgear ProSafe FS726TP 24 port switches, or maybe the equivalent Linksys SRW224MP 24 port switch. About 4 of these will run the phones and computers on the network connecting back to a gigabit switch handling the phone and other servers.
On the phone side VOIP phonesThe price range sort of limits me to:* Aastra 9112i* Snom 300* Polycom 320* Cisco CP-7906G (But I believe this won't handle SIP out of the box?)
Any good bad stories of the above? One thing I like about the Aastra is being able to go POE from a switch, to the Aastra, then out of the second port on the Aastra and into the PC.
RegardsMikel

Re: [asterisk-users] Video on Hold?

2008-09-09 Thread k4rjj

Is the idea to switch to another video source or stay with the callers camera? An option for both would be nice. I could see a help desk placing a caller in que and a 1-2 min video coming on showing some simple video of "how to hook it up".

This is not something that is supported right now. However, it would

I just went and wrote a first draft in

. I haven't tested it, yet, though. However, as soon as I can get
this tested and any issues fixed, it will be merged into Asterisk 1.6.

This would be a fun project to finish up in the code zone at
 Astricon. :)

to announce". That would either indicate that this was intended as the
first announcement, or the person posting the reminder failed to review the
