Asterisk (at least stable v1.06) does not seem to support DNIS. - DNIS and
$EXTEN are not the same thing.
We have discovered this recently where we had a block of telephone numbers
in Adelaide diverted to a second block of numbers in Perth. $EXTEN in
asterisk showed the local Perth number rather than the Adelaide number
originally dialled by the caller. $RDNIS also failed to show the original
Adelaide dialled number. The setup we have is where the E1 from the telco
connects to span 1 on the TE405 and then span 2 connects to a Dialogic E1
board. If we dial the call through from span 1 to span 2 without answering
it, the DNIS variable on the dialogic shows the correct DNIS number - ie the
Adelaide one. So to me it demonstrates that at keast zaptel or libpri is
aware of the DNIS, it just doesn't seem to make it available to Asterisk.

Subject: [Asterisk-Users] ANI DNIS sent to analog FXs Port Possible
Good Day list,
Need assistance determining the best place to read up on whether
Asterisk can help me out.
I have a situation where I need to do the following
PRI from Telco ---
Analog Channel BankProprietary Box

PRI Port 1 of
Digium Quad T1 PRI Port 2 of Digium Quad T1
|

-Asterisk Box with Quad T1--

ext. 100 ext. 101 ext 102 ext 103
A standard T1 or PRI service are both digital and require to be
converted to Analog to work onto the Proprietary System, as the need to
receive analog with the DNIS and ANI information is important a product
must be used which will allow for this.
YUCK The Lucent G3, Intertel and Comdial switches are capable./YUCK
I want to put Asterisk in here
All PBX switches must have the capability of passing the DNIS (DID) and
ANI information onto an FSX analog port, please check your current
switch or talk to your provider.
My question is :
Am I correct in thinking that I can have asterisk answer the
incoming call from telco on the PRI, Grab the ANI/DNIS Information and
then route it to a channel back via a second PRI Port and have the
channel bank pass the ANI/DNIS of the original caller oout to the
proprietary box in an analog fashion?
My understanding is that the Proprietary box does its magic and then
would need to transfer the call back to a Specific user on the PBX via
flash hook transfer.
If I am on the right track can anyone point me in direction of channel
backs that will accept Digital PRI/T1 connection on the front and
Analog connection on the back?
Is there a better way to do this? Maybe a Sip Analog Gateway?
Anyways, thanks for your help in sorting through this with me.
