7910 does not have a SIP image and looks like it never will. I have
about 40 of these stupid things that I can't get to work 100% with
skinny or sccp. If you ever figure out how, be sure to let me know!
There are some references to SIP for the 7910 on the Cisco web site.
They are wrong. As Mark said, there is no SIP firmware for the 7910.

Maybe not the place for this but thought I'd post the
info for others. I purchased a cisco 7960 off ebay and needed to convert
to SIP for *. I know * supports SCCP but I wont go into that here. I'd
read on voip-info.org that a contract could be purchased for approx $8 to allow
me to download the firmware. I though, being in the UK, i'd get one through a reseller in the UK. What
a shock! Apparently, the $8 ( £5 ) contract is no longer available and
the cheapest contract they provide with firmware download access is about £56 (
$104 ).

Just
like to say thanks to the kind soul who helped me out with the firmware ( you
know who you are! ). Just waiting A WEEK for the email from cisco with my
contract number and then I'll have to wait ANOTHER WEEK while they verify the
number that THEY are sending me!

Rant
over!

The sccp looks promising, if some more of us would work on chan_sccp
maybe we could get somewhere.

It would be good if it could be merged into the main cvs tree and have a
good bug tracker on it.

Mark, have you tried the latest chan_sccp?

Yeah... It has good features but I get deadlocks with the phones and it
crashes the whole phone system. I am sending the developer a 7910 but I
had an emergency * install and I had to get the 7910's working
immediately. Skinny has been completely stable for me, but alot of the
features are missing/or broken. I am attempting to build a 2nd * server
so I can do more testing and mail results to the right people so maybe
we can get sccp working better with the 7910's.

I will second thatI tried to get the firmware in a legitimate fashion, but
Cicso just made it too difficult. I was happy to pay for it...why they
couldn't just run a little e-commerce site for distribution is anyone's
guess.

Yup, that's the way it goes unfortunately.. Cisco are into price gouging
in a big way.

It took me nearly 2 months to get the contract setup as well ( a nasty
email to the dealer who was clearly only interested in the 'big'
contracts to give mine any time).

They ask for your serial number - if you're not the first user of the
phone (mine was boxed/sealed when I bought it) then they may try to get
another £150 dollars for a software license too.
