RE: [Asterisk-Users] Does anyone manage the wiki?

2004-01-29 Thread Christopher Lee
Hi Chris,

I think it's a community resource, to be freely updated by anyone... I've
added some info to a couple of pages.

I do agree though, it's a strange feeling that all you need to do is
register an account and you can freely edit pages, makes me wonder if these
Wiki's are susceptible to bored people randomly changing pages/information
to introduce errors or delete pages altogether?

Yep, that's the risk with an open wiki. However, the wiki does maintain
versioning history so it's easy to restore an older version if needed.

2004-01-29 Thread Brian Christie
Matt,
I believe this is not a problem as a history of the edits is kept. If
somebody were to trash a bunch of pages I believe they could be restored
from the history.

Check out the history tab at the top of any wiki
(http://www.voip-info.org/wiki-Asterisk) page.

The beauty with the wiki is that we have version control. So if you do delete, I'll
reinstate the old versions promptly. At this time, we're a few people observing
regurlarly what happens on the wiki and add changes, revert changes that are
incorrect or move pages that are in the wrong place. All to keep an open attitude
and be very thankful to everyone that contributes.
While writing, a special thank to the growing crowd of Wiki-contributors!
voip-info.org has grown into a very valuable resource by all of us working together.
Community documentation, the open source way.
