[asterisk-users] EM signalling

2009-03-14 Thread Norbert Phillipps
I'm trying to implement EM type V over a T1 and have not had much luck.

Type V sends 1's when on-hook and 0's when off-hook (for a little background)
which is the reverse of type II, which is what the em keyword in zaptel.conf
gives.

The closest I have gotten is to set the channels to cas or user in zaptel.conf
(cas = 42-71:) which will send all 1's on-hook, but I can't find any
keyword for Zapata.conf that will work with this.

Help is much appreciated

[Asterisk-Users] EM Signalling

2004-03-22 Thread David J Carter
Hi all,

I may need to connect to a system with EM connectivity.
Am I right in assuming a T1 card and Channel Bank will give me this
connectivity?

Regards

Dave

Depends on the channel bank -- make sure it supports EM.

If you don't need to support a lot of EM trunks you can take a look at
Multi-Tech's VoIP gateways. Expensive but they support EM and ought to
be able to be connected to Asterisk (although I haven't tried myself)
using H.323 -- don't know about their SIP support.

A T1 card will. If the channel bank is populated with the right cards,
it may be able to convert the analog version of signaling to the digital
version.

You typically do not need a channel bank when using EM. However,
you will probably need a T1 crossover cable, if you are not connecting
to the outside world (i.e. cross 12 with 45).

EM trunks can be either analog or digital.

If the trunks are digital (a trunk per channel of a T1) then no channel
bank is needed. Just plug the T1 into your Digium card and configure
your zaptel.conf and zapata.conf files accordingly.

If the trunks are analog, you would need a channel bank capable of
converting EM trunks to a T1 and plugging this into your Digium card.

Perhaps we ought to make sure we're talking about the same thing.

Mr. Carter: are you talking about EM signalling on digital trunks or
four-wire analog EM trunks?

2004-03-22 Thread David J Carter
Thanks for all the replies.

The system I may have to connect to has some spare analogue 2/4 wire EM
trunks.

I have two Multitech units but am having some difficulty with the H323 on
asterisk at the moment. I think I have built everything OK but get problems
starting asterisk with the h323 modules loaded.

any help on the h323 would be appreciated as well.

Regards

Dave
