Re: [Asterisk-Users] Issues with ringing on FXS ports

2005-04-07 Thread Ian Pattison
Ok... I've done a bit of emperical testing but don't really know what the
results mean. I'm starting to think I need an oscilloscope to measure this
properly. All I have is a DMM, I'm measuring on both the AC and DC scales...

  AC MeasurementDC Measurement
On-hook 107V 49V
Off-hook 11V6V
Ring drops to 44V0V

Does this make any sense to anyone?

Thanks,

Ian

ringing. If I connect the GE cordless models I've been asked to use (0.1
REN) they normally will not ring... they light up and indicate there's
an incoming call and once or twice I've received 1/2 - 3/4 of a ring but
never a complete ring or multiple rings. When connected directly to my
 incoming lines they ring normally.

Normally I'd assume this was a power problem but at 0.1 REN?? Any other
 ideas I can try?

Try adding the module parameter boostringer=1 when loading the wctdm
driver. This raises the ringing volts to 89V peak.

DC measurements are fine; AC is not even reasonable (in the US).

No. You should have no appreciable AC in on or offhook conditions. Ring is
the only time you should have AC and it should be around 80VAC.

The DC measurements look alright.

Is there a list of these anywhere? This is now the third one I've heard
of, with no documentation: lowpower (IIRC), robust and now boostringer.
Do I have to go diving in the source, or is there a Wiki I can't find?

Good point! There is the bugtracker to search but this is one of those
subjects (like the Dial application) that could use a whole chapter
somewhere.

There is a bugfix to change the ring frequency and a recent solution
to a problem I had regarding the cadeces used. I think the onlu
current way would be to search the zaptel stuff on the bugtracker.

[Asterisk-Users] Issues with ringing on FXS ports

2005-04-01 Thread Ian Pattison
I've got an Asterisk PBX with a Wildcard TDM400P (2x FXS, 2x FXO). When
I connect an older (circa 1984) Nortel Harmony phone - the first phone
Bell Canada offered with an electronic ringer as opposed to a bell - I
get normal ringing (sorry I don't know the REN rating of this phone...).
When I connect my personal cordless (VTech, 0.3 REN) I get normal
