You might like to try aredfox.com and see if there is anything there
that might suit. I have HOP1002 phones and I am using the 1002 as a
clue here.

We just got 100 of them in and no manual or passowrd to program the phone.
Also need some direction on the * sip.conf if anyone has experence with
 these phones.

RE: [Asterisk-Users] New SIP Phone

2003-08-14 Thread Nathan Littlepage

It doesn't make much sense to me, but it appears Robertson intends to
make money just selling pre-configured phone hardware. The sample
units from Grandstream were $60 a while ago, and $75 MSRP. Doesn't
seem like much markup, so I'm curious to see how this plays out.

I would assume they are jumping on the bandwagon that Vonage has created
in using the Cisco ATA devises to broadband internet users.

2003-08-14 Thread Andy Powell

It's just a proxy service like fwd it will work with asterisk... The phones they are
selling
with the deal are Grandstreams.

It's very likely that they just have been preloaded with their settings, and probably
point to their
own tftp server. simply create fake dns entries and a static route so that it looks on
your network
for the ip of their tftp server...

I'd guess that you could still do firmware upgrades...

so that's a Grandstream for $65 ...

My question for the list is who will be the first to report on the

In fact the is is not required,

Hi,

Might seem an obvious question but are the phones locked to your
service? or can i mess about with them to connect to an Asterisk box
and dial your service via that?

Thanks

You might have missed this FAQ entry:

directory service. What should I do?

A: First, you need to sign up with our service at SIPphone Sign
Up. These are the settings that you will want to use:

SIP Server: proxy01.sipphone.com (130.94.123.252)
STUN Server: stun01.sipphone.com (69.0.208.27)
NTP Server: ntp01.sipphone.com
TFTP Server: tftp01.sipphone.com (130.94.123.253)

Currently the SIPphone directory service has only been tested with the
Grandstream BudgeTone 100 phone. Please check back for further updates
on SIPphone friendly SIP phones.

Here is a picture of the Grandstream phone:

It was my first guess anyway, since it's one of the few one-piece
phones out there, and certainly the cheapest.

Well, I put in my order for the SipPhone 2-pack this morning. It
seems to be the cheapest source anywhere for 1-piece SIP phones.

Nikotel.com (also in San Diego) sells the same phone for $100 with a
$100 calling-minutes credit.

Are they selling the Grandstream? They don't seem to actually say
that; they only say that the Grandstream is the only phone they
tested (other than their own system? not clear.)

I did see the references to the SIP proxies they are using, and in
fact I'm almost done setting up my own system to route 1747XXX
numbers in that direction.

No pictures on the website... this doesn't bode well. I don't think
it's a scam, certainly, but it has the hallmarks of a
not-well-organized effort. There was nothing in the FAQ that really
referenced anything about using the phone with other systems other
than the IPTel-powered platform that they apparently are using. No
configuration notes, no manuals, no tech guides, nothing. They want
me to put down $129 for something I've never seen, even in a
brochure. Very, very amateurish.
