[Asterisk-Users] Running asterisk without special hardware

2005-04-12 Thread Manish Sapariya
Hi List,
Is it possible to setup asterisk in LAN only environment.
I want to setup asterisk so that we use softphones for
voice communication over LAN. I dont have access to
any other special hardware and at this moment I dont
think I need that too.

Any pointer will be of great help.
Thanks,
Manish

Hi Manish,

Sure can, although you will need a timing source. If you don't plan to
have any Digium hardware then you can use ztdummy (see
http://www.voip-info.org/wiki-Asterisk+timer+ztdummy), which we have
never used personally, but have yet to hear bad things about.
