Are you saying that the clicking only occurs when 128-bit WEP is
 enabled?

Verified. The WiSip phone has almost perfect quality with no WEP
encryption, near perfect with 64 bit encryption, and clicks approximately
2-3 times per second with 128 bit encryption.

So, let's recap...that would make the phone about useless unless you
want to run your WLAN totally wide open unencrypted. Doesn't make any
sense in an office or even SOHO environment. That's not indicative of a
manufacturer in touch with their intended market. I guess I'll have to
wait for a wifi phone that supports WPA on 802.11g.

That sounds about right.

I sometimes use my PDA with xlite installed on it, and I get clicks when I
am using 128 Bit wep.
I now have 2 access points. One uses 256 Bit WEP and is only for my .g data
network, and then I have a Orinoco rg-1000 in access point mode and the
provides access for my pda. The second is very secure, it will only allow
communication from registered devices.

Have a good one!

Ugh,

I didn't have a chance to try it last night. I guess I'll have to pull out
my old Apple 802.11b AP and use that for the phone and/or non-secure
connections from friend's laptops, etc.

Good real world experience, is there a way to feed this back to Jeff,
maybe for a WiSIP v2?

[Asterisk-Users] Semi OT: WiSIP and WEP

2004-03-25 Thread Adams, Gavin
Received my Pulver WiSIP phone a couple days ago. Has anyone successfully
gotten the phone to work with 128-bit WEP? I've tried entering the key via
the keyboard (ugh), turning off WEP then adding the key via the web
browser (minor ugh), and all steps in between.

The only thing that may be an issue is that my SSID has a space in it
Test WAP. When I view it the first time on the phone, it appears
correctly. However, the second time, only the first word appears Test.

Promising phone if I can ever get it to work on my network.

Works OK with my 128-Bit WAP.

Remove the Space or put in an underscore and try again.

A quick search of Yahoo found quite a few reports of issues in various
devices with spaces in the SSID. Seems a lot of implementations fail to
properly handle the space. Definitely sounds like a WiSIP issue, but
might be worth removing the space from your SSID if at all
convenient

Are you having problems with the sound clipping a few times every second?
I'm using 128bit encryption, the phone registers and can place and receive
calls just fine. I'm using ulaw and the sound quality just isn't there.

Firmware Version:

2004-03-25 Thread Clif Jones
Are you saying that the clicking only occurs when 128-bit WEP is
enabled? If this is the only
thing causing it (not network congestion), my guess would be that the
same processor doing
the encryption is also trying to drive the voice codec. We have this
same problem on our handheld
devices when we are running code that is at 100% CPU. It results in a
loud click periodically every
few seconds. Do a little research to rule out congestion problems
though because network config
is the most common culprit. My $0.02.
