apt-get/aptitude could do the trick had you used debs
(rapid.dotsrc.org/amportal )

Hopefully one day inside Debian as well, though the developers of AMP
don't consider their package as yet another component of a linux
system, which makes packaging a problem.

I agree. It is like we newbie's on Asterisk is just trouble for the list
members. Pity there is no newbie list. But all were newbie's in the
beginning and not so pompous as some on this list

RE: [Asterisk-Users] Uninstall AMP

2005-11-04 Thread Kanuri, Seshu \(Company IT\)
I want to give the benefit of doubt to the suggestion as I think there
is a misunderstanding of the suggested method of removal of AMP.

I guess that he was suggesting to remove it from your linux installation
by using the rm -rf command as under

 cd /var/www
 rm -rf *

which will efectively remove all the web pages associated with the AMP
instalation.

That doesn't solve much. What I want to do is to stop using AMP and FOP.
Best way perhaps is to alter start and stop script but I can't find any info
about how to do that

RE: [Asterisk-Users] Uninstall AMP

2005-11-04 Thread Colin Anderson
In my FC2 box with a new-ish AMP install, AMP can be effectively disabled by
commenting out /usr/sbin/ampportal start in /etc/rc.d/rc.local

However, the ampportal script also calls safe_asterisk so you have to add
a reference to safe_asterisk in rc.local if you want Asterisk to start at
boot, or call the binary manually like this:

su asterisk /usr/sbin/asterisk
