I was experiencing problems accessing voip-info, too. But i guess the
problems derived from accessing http://www.google-analytics.com, because
i could see that voip-info was resolved rather quickly and after that
stopped. Lynx seems to have to problems getting the html pages from

Today everything seems to be back to normal.

Re: [Asterisk-Users] voip-info: Asterisk record calls

2006-01-10 Thread Mojo with Horan Company, LLC
Is there a Monitor application called in your dialplan? It might have a
basename parameter that configures this. Or you could maybe call
ChangeMonitor yourself but I don't know how to configure the timestamp
portions of the filename.

AAH builds Asterisk from source during the install.

I just reinstalled to the latest AAH 2.2 which uses asterisk 1.2.1.
now I get recordings like this - these are all recorded with record
always turn on in AMP.

internal to internal call - 20060109-212748-1136863668.139.WAV
incoming call - g200-20060109-205540-1136861730.135.WAV
outgoing call - OUT202-20060109-222003-1136866803.141.WAV
outgoing call - OUT203-20060109-205232-1136861552.133.WAV

here is the code I'm using now
--- snip ---
foreach($a as $b)
{
$k = explode(., $b);
$l = explode(-, $k[0]);
$m = $k[1];
if (isset($l[3])) {
$unixtime = $l[3];
$o = $l[0];
} else {
$unixtime = $l[2];
$o = internal;
}
$q = date('F j, Y \a\t g:i a', $unixtime);
echo $i. $o made a call at $q, on channel
b.$m. /b -

--- end snip ---

I'm guessing $m is a channel number or something like that since I don't
have any extensions like 133, 135 or 139 -seems to be incrementing up

so it probably isn't a usefull number.

Your file names seem to have more usefull info - mine in AAH just have
the date and time twice and the sip extension that made an outgoing
call. There is probably a compile option somewhere that would set it
like yours that I need to find.

My monitor filenames include the date and time, embedded as seconds
since epoch iirc:

[EMAIL PROTECTED] monitor]$ ll
auto-1136394539-112-7476011-in.wav
auto-1136394539-112-7476011-out.wav
[EMAIL PROTECTED] monitor]$ ll
auto-1136394539-112-7476011.wav

So the 1136394539 part is seconds since epoch, 112 is who started the
recording, 7476011 is where they were connected to when it happened.
And, I suspect the auto- part is 'cause I used automon feature to do
this? I haven't looked at asterisk code enough to see what filenames
are created when.

Thank you for the patch though. Now that I know many people are
trying this stuff, I'll try to incorporate autodetection of filename
style

Re: [Asterisk-Users] voip-info: Asterisk record calls

2006-01-03 Thread Mojo with Horan Company, LLC

Wow, example by me. I don't read the Wiki enough lately ;)

while you are recording, are there *-in and *-out files being created?
Within seconds of hanging up, do they disappear to be replaced by a
single file? In my php I search for records using the following:

ls -1t --color=never --almost-all $thepath | grep -v in | grep -v out
/tmp/some_list3991-0s022

(aside from the fact that this type of ugly code should NEVER be found
in the wild for too many reasons to go over)

so look for all files, ignore the ones that include the word in or the
word out in the filenames..

The soft link bit isn't necessary to see the recordings listed, only to
download them from the webpage.

So the areas in which this could mess up are A) sox isn't mixing
anything, so therefore no files exist that don't contain in or out
in the file name. is soxmix for sure installed as part of the sox
package? try typing: soxmix filename-in.wav filename-out.wav
filename.wav and when it's done, check with the recordings php again to
see if it sees anything now.

B) bad permissions in the /tmp dir. I'm trying to create and then
re-read a text file.  chmod 1777 /tmp?

C) Do you set your monitor filename in the asterisk dialplan? I never
experimented with this but you should see recordings listed anyway, even
with this option.

D) Depending on what distribution you're using, maybe my ls bit isn't
right. They are all pretty imperative switches for my use. There are
a billion ways to skin this cat, including with cut or awk.

All this is using Automon in features.conf, I assume this is the automon
you speak of?

Hope this helps!

Moj

I fixed it on my system it now reads the date and time correctly from
the filenames but the by - part is missing in the joined file names as
far as I can tell so I had to leave that part out. This is AAH 1.5 if
that makes any difference. I'll be upgrading to 2.2 after a while but
this install is working so well it is hard to disturb it.

here is the output from a diff on the index.php file

[Asterisk-Users] voip-info: Asterisk record calls

2005-12-28 Thread Tomislav Parcina
On this page http://www.voip-info.org/wiki-Asterisk+record+calls there
is Example by Mojo. I have done everything he said and I have sox
package installed.

[EMAIL PROTECTED] recordings]# sox -help
sox: Version 12.17.7
...

When I open this web page http://10.0.0.26/recordings/index.php I get
this: No Recordings Found

And there are recordings in /var/spool/asterisk/monitor

Do I have to do something more? Does it work for anybody else?

Is there any other way to combine in and out soundfile when I use
automon option?

It is NOT working from the UK.

There is some loop in a routing table somewhere which goes round and
round. I have been trying for 2 days to reach it but don't know who to
complain to to get it resolved.

Voip-info is back up -- in-spite of Murphy's law.
This was phase I (install latest version of O/S) of an upgrade to
improve performance and functionality.
Hopefully with Phase II we will see much better performance and new
functions.

For those that asked, the primary voip-info-org sponsor:
www.commpartners.us provides a dedicated server, bandwidth and

resoruces, but because the software used is rather resource intensive.

There are ways of doing these types of changes without affecting the
users nearly as much. We do those kinds of things for our clients all
the time.

If its an issue of cost (monitarily or time) and there are others
willing to accept that cost, then I don't understand the reluctance to
let others help.

That would solve the problem then, free bandwidth, free file storage for
images to make the interface all pretty and give people a warm fuzzy,
etc. However, I missed the initial part of this thread. Why is this an
issue? I went to voip-info.org today just to see what was going on
(while writing a googleapi tool to pull all cached docs from a given
domain) and it was running and appears to be there. Nothing on their
main page or in news saying that it would be going down.

It is not really an issue at all. The thread started due to scheduled
maintenance of the server, which scared a lot of Asterisk users. The
wiki is safely managed and hosted by James H. Thompson and CommPartners.

As one of the initial contributors, I feel proud about the fact that the
wiki has grown into that level of the importance for the community :-)

I agree; while I personally dislike wikis I can't deny (as is evidenced by all

If required, I'd be more than happy and willing to let voip-info.org be

We are currently hooked up to the net with a 6MB symetrical connection,

all the other hosted site.

voip-info is one of the most valuable tools around, and having it go

RE: [Asterisk-Users] VOIP-INFO

2005-06-10 Thread Chris Coulthurst
It sounds like there are quite a few people willing to aid in
bandwidth for voip-info. I was just wondering if it wouldn't make sense to
mirror the site across several locations with a round-robin DNS for a little
bit of load balancing? Any thoughts?

I would like to start by saying wikis are against my religion, however
voip-info is one of the best that I have seen, fairly well maintained
current info, and its *accurate* at least most of the time for most
things.

Prejudices asiude, round robin seems to have a bit of a problem with a
wiki on its surface, and must have some stuff done to make sure that its
good. Namely the database backend needs to update all servers or
everything is out of sync and people get confused or problems arise when
comments are properly propagated.

WHy not do it for free. Start the 'VoIP documentation project' on
sourceforge. It provides bandwidth, filesystem for images and all, php,
and all. afaik it does not provide database connectivity so that may be
limiting, but it might. If the wiki software can support filesystem
access instead of say mysql then there is no problem. That would allow
for a solution to everything that should be required, and provide a nice
connection at zero cost to anyone (other than time to set it up,
maintain it, and all that).

Erk! My vote is against Sourceforge, definately -- although it's free,
you get what you pay for. Clumsy interface and *shockingly* slow load
times. I don't know what they're running for lines, but DAMN it takes a
long time to get anywhere on there. That and their penchant for going
down more often than a thermometer in Canada, I'd rather not have the
resource there. :)

(they're getting better, mind you, but it's still not great)

I havent had that problem, maybe its more of a peering problem rather
than them ... A network connection between you and them is slow,
overloaded and goes down. I have *never* had a problem getting to
sf.net nor slow load times (although some pages load slow because the
underlying php is inherently slow, most are really fast). They have a
really good raid system (a php stats program gives info off the machine
it runs on and does run on sf.net) so it shouldnt be a FS problem.

What I was getting at was that it's a resource which anyone can update. How
do you DNS load-balance such a beast without resorting to some kind of
impossible fully automatic multiple way sync? If you go to a common DB or DB
cluster you've still got your bandwidth bottleneck.

It's a nontrival problem and simply load-balancing with round-robin DNS isn't
going to cut it.

wiis are against my religion, so I dont know mnuch about them, however
there are some basic questions first off.

Is the data only in google cache or do we have a good copy of it
somewhere? (google: site:voip-info.org and you should be able to pull
it for a week or so more)

Is the backend database driven or flat files? Either is possible, I
just dont know what that particular software uses.

Is there any place that can be set up immediatly? DSL wont cut it, the
site more than likely receives way too much traffic given the amount of
traffic it generated on this list. sf.net may work in the short term,
even to display the cached pages and nothing else ... for now anyway -
something is better than nothing.

I seriously doubt that sf.net has any DB access, so its only suitable if
the wiki is flat files or to temp host the cached pages until something
more perm can be done.

I queried the name servers and it looks like this site may be hosted on a
cable or DSL system which doesn't allow static IP addresses. It's possible
that the DHCP and the dynamic DNS fell out of sync. All of this is just a
guess based on the name server results.

 We would be happy to host the site.

 You know, if I thought that it wouldn't be a bandwidth hog, I'd happily
 host voip-info out of my Data Center leased cabinet, but whoa-nellie! I
 think we know how popular that site is, hence why it can be a
 slow-loader at times. It would cost me a $FORTUNE$ with the price I pay
 per MB!

 I wonder if voip-info would let anyone 'snake' the site for backup? Who
 is the authority for that site?

This is a great site with tons of good information, google at least retains
cached pages but the links are broken. I sent an email to the domain owner,
lets see if I get a response. - Pete

Good News, according to Jim at Voip-info.org, they are doing an upgrade or
something to the server tonight at it will be back on line shortly. They are
located in Hawaii and AHST.

Yeah funny you just heard that because I came on here now to post that the
Google-cached front page of voip-info.org apparently said this:

VOIP-info.org will be down for a few hours on Thursday June 9 for a system
upgrade.

I mean, who uses the front door of a website anymore? ;)

I eagerly look forward to the rebirth...

Voip-info is back up --in-spite of Murphy's
law.
This was phase I(installlatest version of
O/S)of an upgrade to improve performance and functionality.
Hopefully with Phase II we will see much better performance
and new functions.

For those that asked, theprimary voip-info-org sponsor:
www.commpartners.us provides a
dedicated server, bandwidthand hosting in theirLas Vegas data
center. Its slow not for any lack of resoruces, but
because the software used is rather resource intensive.

There's been a 'wiki down' thread running all day on this list. So it's
been noticed, yes.
