I find it's worth pausing slightly before using Zapateller. I use Zapateller before my "no caller ID", "void caller ID", and "redlist" messages - and I get the three tones (which is the SIT). I always Answer and Wait(2) before it. Most autodialler systems will tend not to present a caller ID, and those that do quickly get blacklisted. Grossly abusive ones may find themselves redlisted. -- Phil Reynolds o mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] |L_ \ / Web: http://www.tinsleyviaduct.com/phil/ (_)- \/ Waltham 66, Emley Moor 69, Droitwich 79, Windows 95 ___ --Bandwidth and Colocation provided by Easynews.com -- asterisk-users mailing list To UNSUBSCRIBE or update options visit: http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users

Hi, I have been using Zapateller with a TDM400 no problems at all, but recently I have ported our BT number to a VoIP provider, and have a strange problem. [asterisk-users] Zapateller not playing audio via SIP Trunk?
Hi All I'm tracing a very strange problem which I could reproduce with different versions up to 1.2.5 (sorry, didn't update to a newer one yet). Scenario 1: Problem does not occure. = Sip Phone registered directly to the Asterisk. exten => i,1,Zapateller() exten => i,n,Playback(invalid, noanswer) exten => i,n,Hangup() Works like expected. I dial an invalid number, hear the SIT tone and then the Announcement. Scenario 2: Problem does occure. === SIP 'trunk' to another SIP PBX (or another Asterisk). exten => i,1,Zapateller() exten => i,n,Playback(invalid, noanswer) exten => i,n,Hangup() Does not work, Zapateller seams to be 'hanging' forever without playing any audio. exten => i,1,Zapateller(answer) exten => i,n,Playback(invalid, noanswer) exten => i,n,Hangup() Well, this does work, but the customer would have to pay as a CDR is generated. We want Early Audio. exten => i,1,Playback(invalid,noanswer) exten => i,n,Hangup() Strangely, this again works, so it is not a 183 Proccessing (Early Audio) problem, but seams to be a Zapateller Application Problem... exten => i,1,Playback(invalid,noanswer) exten => i,n,Zapateller() exten => i,n,Hangup() Early Audio Announcement is played, but then again as soon as Zapateller is executed, it 'hangs'. Any idea what causes Zapateller to hang if it should play early audio via a SIP Trunk? Re: [Asterisk-Users] Zapateller issues
Yeah, tried this. Seems that the Zapateller code is not written correctly. The problem is that if one does this exten => s,1,Zapateller(answer|nocallerid) Then the call is answered by Zapateller regardless of the callerID state. The tones are played if there is no caller id. The problem with this is that the call gets answered regardless of state and so the caller gets charged. If my dial plan forwards the call to my phone and the caller wants to hangup before I get to it he has to pay anyway. This is expensive especiall if calling from abroad. When the Zapateller has answered there is no longer any ringing heard whilst the calling party is waiting for a SIP extension to pick up either. I can see some advantages of having the above situation howevever. eg, one could answer the call and then dump the caller onto hold whilst the extensions are rung. If I do this exten => s,1,Zapateller(nocallerid) The call gets answered when there is no callerid info but DOES NOT play the tones which is kinda useless. I have also noticed that when the tones are played they are often trunkated; the beginning gets cut off. Could a few seconds pause be written in so that the connection has a chance to sort itself out before the tones play? > On Mon, 12 Apr 2004, Mark Phillips wrote: >> I tried, >> >> exten => s,1,Zapateller(answer|nocallerid) >> exten => s,2,Privacymanager >> exten => s,3,Dial(a bunch of SIP extensions) >> >> But then every call was answered regardless of CID and the tones were >> heard. > > I tried the sample I found at: > http://www.loligo.com/asterisk/current/extensions.conf > and it worked well. Steve-- I'm using it, with the 'nocallerid' option. I think you are really wondering about the "special information" tones. Remember ever hearing the message: "Dee Dee Dee -- The number you have dialed has been disconnected" , or whatever? The Dee-Dee-Dee tones rise in pitch. That's the "special Information tones." They have a hardware product at Walmart you can buy for $30-40 that does this, but for everyone, every time you pick up an incoming call. The theory is that autodialers are made to detect these tones and if present, will terminate the call, and strike the "bad" number from the list, whereas humans may think the tones curious, but will rarely immediately hang up. murf On Mon, 2004-01-26 at 16:31, [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: From: Steve Foy <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: Asterisk-Users <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: [Asterisk-Users] Zapateller Date: 26 Jan 2004 17:54:56 + Hi, I'm just wondering about 'Zapateller'. I think you can just put it in your dial plan: exten => s,1,Answer exten => s,2,Wait(2) exten => s,3,Zapateller exten => s,4,Dial(whatever) It fakes a disconnected number by playing the same tones you would get when dialing, for example, 555-1234. If a computer was calling you, sometimes they are programmed to listen for those tones. No sense keeping the connection with a disconnected number. I mean, if the National Weather Service is trying to call everyone in the path of a hurricane as fast as possible with information about nearby storm shelters and emergency plans, they want their computer to connect to as many valid phone numbers as it can and play their warning message. --Chris -- Chris Maj Pronunciation Guide: Maj == May Fingerprint: 43D6 799C F6CF F920 6623 DC85 C8A3 CFFE F0DE C146 ___ Asterisk-Users mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users To UNSUBSCRIBE or update options visit: http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users
