Re: [asterisk-users] Mountain ahead of me!
Hello, I want to set up a Voip Farm (c) (tm) (patent pending) but don't know how to do it. Please help. Oh, the irony :) Cheers Jean-Michel. 2009/4/2 Gabriel - IP Guys gabr...@impactteachers.com: Dear All, Thanks for taking the time to read this. I have been presented with a massive task. I'm not an asterisk expert, but I do know my way around a linux server and infrastructure, and I know when things are not done correctly. A large number of minutes are routed every month, (1m+) and I wish to do this in the most efficient way possible. I've been presented with three linux servers, all in varying states of upkeep, and I've decided, instead of attempting to clean the systems I'm presented with, it is better for me to build a stable platform for asterisk to be migrated onto. This makes my question two fold. 1 What steps should I take, or consider, if I wish to migrate an existing asterisk installation, without it being offline for too long 2 What steps should I look out for, if I wish to move to a MySQL backed for the configuration files, so that I can remove the systems dependence on local configuration. My long term plan is to introduce MySQL to be the backend for the configuration and call log data and put this machine behind a load balancer, so that in due course, when I need to add more machines to handle the load, I will have no need to reconfigure asterisk, or build new configurations, and if I keep the base OS install uniform, I should in theory be able to deploy more asterisk boxes very fast behind a load balancer to increase the capacity of my VoIP Farm with minimal work. *VoIP farm is my term, please do not use it in any presentations to the powers that be inside your organisation - If you wish to do so please send £10(ten) via paypal to my email address which is clearly displayed in the email headers!* Also, in theory, it allows for testing of new configuration, without having to change the configuration on multiple machines at the same time. Which is always a good thing. Any help an advice, or questions are most welcome, as I wish to turn this mountain into a mole hill, a very stable, and expandable mole hill! Re: [asterisk-users] Mountain ahead of me!
It's already OT but clearly your trademark is for the logo not just the words: the search shows: DESIGN PLUS WORDS, LETTERS, AND/OR NUMBERS 01.01.03 - Star - a single star with five points 24.17.06 - Plus symbol (+) 26.01.02 - Circles, plain single line; Plain single line circles 26.05.02 - Plain single line triangles; Triangles, plain single line 26.09.02 - Plain single line squares; Squares, plain single line 26.11.02 - Plain single line rectangles; Rectangles (single line) 26.11.12 - Rectangles with bars, bands and lines 26.11.13 - Rectangles (exactly two rectangles); Two rectangles So I can make a similar logo (yet different) with the same words and I'll be fine. I can also use these words together and you can't do anything about it. How about I challenge you - try to trademark just those two words. It used to be ONLY $400 LOL Martin On Sat, Apr 4, 2009 at 11:52 AM, Ira i...@extrasensory.com wrote: At 09:12 PM 4/2/2009, you wrote: And I did try to trademark something composed of two words and they refused. Re: [asterisk-users] Mountain ahead of me!
Hi, To make a load balanced asterisk servers requires some knowledge you can google it and figure it out. But if you ask on this group then most likely it'd be better if you hire someone. Also your term VOIP Farm can be used by anyone unless you register it as a trademark in every country ... and then get the trademark and then prove it in court ... seriously - no normal country will trademark two words out of the regular vocabulary Martin On Thu, Apr 2, 2009 at 6:39 AM, Gabriel - IP Guys gabr...@impactteachers.com wrote: Dear All, Thanks for taking the time to read this. Heck, There goes General Electric General Motors Headline News General Dynamics General Instruments All trademarks of their respective companies. Not to mention run together words like Voicepulse. Re: [asterisk-users] Mountain ahead of me!
First of all I may be wrong ... I'm certainly not a lawyer. But for my own sake I did a trademark search for General Electric to learn more since you show I'm ignorant about that matter... 1st result says: DESIGN PLUS WORDS, LETTERS, AND/OR NUMBERS Can you read ? It says their logo PLUS words GE ... wow I can use GE for my own purpose and they can't do anything. 2nd result GE - STANDARD CHARACTER MARK Wow ... I briefly went through all of it and I don't see GENERAL ELECTRIC as being a trademark. Yes, GE is a trademark since it doesn't mean anything in regular vocabulary. And I did try to trademark something composed of two words and they refused. So it seems I know what I'm talking about.
