RE: [asterisk-users] SIP Hardware Phone

2007-05-18 Thread Dean Collins
Lol - I think everyone starts on budgetones then moves to ciscos or
polycoms etc.

BTW I have 2 x 3line IP500's that I'm about to ebay this weekend if
anyone in NY or near Manhattan wants to buy them.

Just upgraded to the 6 line versions.

Polycoms seem great to me and according to much feedback I've read on

 polycom.

 Linksys SPA962

We're using only Linksys - 921s and 941s. When I was researching
prices, I found I could buy them off a local Swiss retailer, and sell
them on at ebay in the UK - for some reason the UK prices were
significantly higher. This was about two months ago - today:

SPA921 - SFr124 - roughly GBP51 (incl.VAT)
SPA941 - SFr136 - roughly GBP56. (incl.VAT)

On ebay.co.uk, the SPA-921 is selling for almost twice the price above.
I just don't get it. I don't know the street-price though.

We swear by the SNOM hardphones (we have a good number of 320s, 190s,
and 360s about). Clear speakers, good microphone pickup, good volume
control.

The Budgetones are cheap, and they sound cheap. Good price, though.

There are dozens if not 100's to choose from. Just use google to find
them.

I like Grandstream GXP2000's - they're cheap cheerful and do everything
I want, but I also like the Siemens CP460IP DECT phones. Others here will
rant rave on about their own favourite, just search from SNOM, Polycom,
Linksys, to name but a few.

This link

   http://www.voiptalk.org/products/VoIP+Phones

will give you some idea what they look like features... You'll just have
to find local distributors if you like any of them...

Then there's ATAs - which let you connect an ordinary analogue phone to a
SIP account...

Good luck finding something that suits you ( your pocket!)

I'm not surprised you found the Grandstream lacking. We've had good results
with the following (in ascending price order, as per prices in the UK):
Elmeg IP290 (almost identical to the old Snom 190)
Linksys SPA942
Aastra 57i
Linksys SPA962
Cisco 7960/7970

My personal favourite is the Linksys SPA962 - great colour screen with a good
resolution, bright backlit display, solid handset feel and good sound quality.
It's displaced my Cisco 7960 on my desk as the phone I reach for when I want to
make a call.
