Do you use any zaptel cards ?
We have two cards in our Asterisk server (B410p (misdn) and TE220p 
(zapata))
and this kind of problem seem to happen since the day we started to use 
the TE220p
(auto completion freeze and then the console start to fail big time, no 
more logging message
and then even restart command doesn't work).

I never tested your first problem but i experienced a few cli freezes
yes.
Most of the times it was in the same time i had a bunch of locked IAX thread
due to many iax2 reload (when it start to lock, every reload seem to 
add 10 thread
to the stack).

Using asterisk 1.4.18.1 for AsteriskNow.
