VoIP isn't really about price any more; it's more about flexibility,
and choice. If you use OneTel, you can make free calls anywhere in
the UK for a fixed monthly rate (excluding 0[789] numbers, of course).

There are various other flat-monthly-rate providers too. I haven't
found any of them that will provide SIP/IAX access - perhaps a VoIP
service provider could cut a reseller deal with one of these providers
and sell the talk time on the same basis - perhaps with call volume
thresholds for business users.

There's a 1p connection fee on 18866. So 1899 is cheaper for geographic
calls longer than four minutes, and 18866 is cheaper on everything else.

But 1899 is charging 3p setup fee per call where telediscount is not? So
depends how long your average call is.

Hmm, most interesting. The rates seem identical to 18866 apart from that
0.5p/min. I must admit that 1p/min was starting to look expensive - I've
been getting that rate since 1999 :)

It appears to be yet another front to the Telediscount empire. The complete
lack of customer service and the wxx.nl domain doing some backend stuff is a
hint.

The pricing makes rather a mockery of most VoIP providers! :)

I would hope so, as for many types of calls they're more expensive than BT's
basic rates before any discounts!

The comment on VoIPTalk's calling rates is interesting as I came to a
different conclusion. To instance the two main destinations I call, the
UK and Spain, as an example, the rates are 1.6p and 2p per minute
respectively. This appears to me to be very competitive with other
offerings.

I've had good experience with their support on the phone too. They know
what they are talking about.

P.s. Is this the correct way to reply to a thread? I read last week a
complaint about how people reply for those with "threaded" viewers.

I recently signed up with voiptalk. I've gotten very prompt (and helpful)
responses to support queries submitted via the form on their Web site during
UK business hours.

I'm not a large-volume user, but service has been OK so far.

There are two that I know of and have personal experience with.

http://www.magrathea-telecom.co.uk - talk to Linus, he's s nice guy and has
been very helpful towards us.

http://www.voiptalk.org/ - this is the service-side of "TelAppliant", official

them, and their outbound calling rates aren't fantastic. I would be concerned

Both providers support IAX2 hookup.

Gavin.

Take a look at

I can recommend InterViVo, but then I would because I work there. :)
