You can get the latest stable firmware, build software, cross compilers and everything from here: http://www.sveasoft.com/modules/phpBB2/dlman.php?func=select_folder&folder_id=10 If you want to participate in the Beta Program, and have access to the NON-Stable, NOT RELEASED code, then you can subscribe. It is entirely up to you. If you want to bitch about their policy, then take it up with them. > By the way have if you have paid $20.00 for each of your routers, you > are paying 1/3rd of the cost of the router itself for this "upgrade". So what? It adds several features that are not available on other routers even at twice the price. For example, it is trivial to use the Satori Firmware to enable a PPTP VPN between two routers to enable SIP devices to safely and freely communicate w/out NAT, translation or STUN issues. That is just one nifty thing.. there are hundreds of other benefits that are too numerous to list. > /Snip/ > one of the most incredible sub $100 routing platforms on the planet. > /snip/ > > Really? As with any Open Source project (Asterisk included) Documentation is always the weak link. However, I will say that the documentation that DOES exist for Sveasoft has surpassed my expectations, especially for the public Satori loads. It has it's rough edges, but in general it is quite adequate for my needs. > I'm sure there'll be an Asterisk port, especially as Sveasoft are making > loadable modules, so the core can be small, but functionality can be > added if required. Yep.. it is only a matter of time. However, the lack of threading and other restrictions of the platform may make Asterisk on a WRT54GS a pretty stripped down and basic system. On the other hand, if you ARE a Sveasoft subscriber, you should definitely check out some of Lonewolf's builds. He has recently added the ability to do Wireless Bridging to the firmware. I use this at home to replace a 6 Meg / second PowerLine Networking setup w/ 54 meg 802.11g links between rooms in the house. -- Vice President of N2Net, a New Age Consulting Service, Inc. Greg Wrote /SNIP/ Everyone wins from this, and Sveasoft has a revenue stream that allows them to keep focused development on improving the firmware. I have over 60 of the WRT54GS units in production and I run Sveasoft firmware on every single one of them. What an insult to all of the quality developers that are putting their time and effort into extending the platform and making it one of the most incredible sub $100 routing platforms on the planet. /SNIP/ That is not the issue here. The point is whether Sveasoft can charge $20.00 to release the source code that is acquired originally under GNU. Alchemy has ssh access, you need to pay $20 subscription to Sveasoft to access the pre-release firmware. Steve I've used satori with SSH (I do have a subscription, so I've a mix of satori and alchemy right now, 2 x wrt54gs). SSH Works just fine in both. There is one feature that I miss, is the option to do the QoS based in DSCP markings, most VOIP devices do a clean job of doing the marking already, so for outbound QoS is easier than going around with filters/port ranges and etc..I guess I'll submit a feature request :-) ___ Asterisk-Users mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users To UNSUBSCRIBE or update options visit: http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users

Sveasoft release all versions for "free", however they restrict "beta" versions to subscribers. Alchemy isn't yet released. And the whole point is that Linksys code is all Linux based, they initially resisted giving away the source, but capitulated in the end, and also gave all the toolchains etc to build a working binary. Sveasoft base their code on the Linksys code. There's efforts like openrwrt which build vanilla non Linksys code.
