BTW: as an alternative to zaphfc+flotz, consider vzaphfc. It seems that
the only place from which you can download an up-to-date version
nowadays is the Debian zaptel package:

 http://svn.debian.org/wsvn/pkg-voip/zaptel/trunk/vzaphfc/
 http://packages.debian.org/zaptel-source

Thanks! I tried looking for some more info on the Debian pages about what
vzaphfc exactly is, but couldn't find any documentation of it.

Is there any main page?

As I sad before: no. Actually there is, but it contains much dated
version of vzaphfc.

Please contact the author for more information. I stress again that I
have never tried it as I don't have a HFC-s card.

vZapHFC is Daniele Vihai Orlandis take on ZapHFC. However over the
time Daniele decided that he needs to V a bigger target and started
vISDN. vZapHFC is now maintained by Jens Wilke. Though appears nowhere

Uhmm nothing, but the alternative would be mISDN I think, I am running
CentOS and default kernels. I don't want to go down the path of compiling
my own kernels so that is a show stopper for me.

I didn't look much further than compiling your own kernel in the misdn

Found the problem, it was fairly limited, where all the digium

Still have to reboot the box to see if it works though

The last working release is the one that works with asterisk 1.0 still :(

I have not rebooted the box to try the latest version but I'm having all
sorts of issues with 0.3.0-PRE-1s.

To name a few :
Often incoming calls are not working, the caller gets the information tone
as if there is no ISDN device connected to the line. Retrying the call
works but this is extremely annoying.

Once I encountered the same problem on an incoming IAX call. The call
would fail as if the server is not available.

The florz patch (which used to make the 0.2 series of bristuff reliable
and stable) will not work on x86_64. After applying the patch I cannot get
zaphfc to compile. In the past after applying the florz patch it used
to be necessary to modify the Makefile and point it to the directory
where the current kernel resides, lately even that doesn't work
anymore.

I assume the first two problems are timing related, the florz patch would
make bristuff behave better, without the patch I also have increased echo
problems. (On a box without any load)

I always do: cd /usr/src ln -s linux-current_version
linux ln -s linux linux-2.6

I'm very curious if this is going to work.
I dont care about the zap stuff as i'm running pure voip
installs and use app_conference instead of app_meetme
But on some customer sites we have ISDN hardware and we want
to use the same version on all boxen for ease of
administration. So if this works we can upgrade from 1.0.X
to 1.2.X

Tzafrir,

Are you in the position to get stuff into asterisk ?
The patch you sent me is working great. I think we need this
stuff into the normal asterisk.
BRI is something a lot of asterisk users depend on, how odd
this may sound to USA ppl.

In an ideal world only the ITSP needs to worry about other
stuff then IAX or SIP but for now we really need BRI and
non-default-zap stuff in asterisk.

At home I trashed my ISDN line because of all the trouble
with bristuff and other stuff coded for normal ISDN. It just
is not the stability one needs for a phone system.

BRISTUFF, misdn, visdn, etc bring asterisk to it's knees
where sip/iax/sccp keep working.

I know all this is an empty call because I'm not capable to
produce code that fixes stuff, but it's something I hear
from a lot of ppl using asterisk and bristuff to get their
stuff working.

PS: anyone here has experience with both bristuff and
sangoma wanpipe patches to zaptel ?
