Re: Solara

Champions are probably the highest level people have of at that point.  Bards are pretty good because they buff the damage for all classes, not only melee. I strongly suggest using Huntresses as they are quite overpowered!Mages are good against melee classes if they can stand at the bottom of your party where they do not get hit. They hit for quite a lot at that point, especially vs classes with no resistance. Thanks,AlexURL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=142598#p142598

Re: THQ game accessibility

well, i definantally no about the wwe games franchise, on SVR 2011, steel cage, submission, ironman and even tables matches are doable far much easier then ladder, tlc and money in the bank.wwe 12 is pretty accessible, although i havent really played it very much.WWE 13 is very accessible, although the finer points of universe mode are not accessible such as editting shows, changing superstar allies and rivals and stuff like that. Attitude era, which is the story mode is pretty accessible, there are some bonus matches that we cant do, such as tlc matches, i am in a tlc match atm and cant beat it, i forget who it is between, think its the rock and mankind? not sure, but attitude era is an excellent mode and is well worth it.UFC undisputed is far more complex for us then WWE games, submissions require you to press x at a certain point, to avoid and block punches and kicks you have to actually move instead of pressing a counter button, to get off the ground you actu
ally need to no where you are, stick with wwe games for enjoyment, if you have any questions, send me an email and i will try and help you, or add me on skype.my skype name is "bradleypinkett" without the quotes.HTHURL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=142596#p142596

Re: Can anyone provide a painless solution for this?

Ah, yes, it was Model Talker.I've mostly just wound up cutting up recordings into words and common phrases and using a word speaker type program. It quite obviously does not sound all that natural (Think of those automated, telephone programs, which read numbers like, your balance is, one, hour, and, thirty, two, minutes.), but it seems to be the best I can manage (and even then, only for the limited domain where I have lots of words recorded. I did write up a couple "word inventory" files that didn't take too long to record (reading off a PACMate), but I haven't actually used that for anything, since it's in a voice I can generally use for whatever I need anyway. ... It's more of a backup in case of permanent shapeshifting, or something equally Pascal's Mugging-ish. ).Something where you can enter parameters and select from vari
ous details would be nice. I seem to remember hearing that you can sorta do stuff like that with DECTalk, but it's mostly modifying the existing voices. Then there's Festival / Festvox, which attempting only showed me that my computer is ill equipped for an easy transition to Linux.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=142594#p142594

2013-07-28 Thread AudioGames.net Forum — New releases room: CAE_Jones

Re: Swamp Campaign Maker!

I got those exact errors in my own scripts using my includes before they were updated to 1.3 compatibility. Just thought I should make sure everyone knows said includes were last updated June 4 2013, for just that reason as I recall.Trying to imagine the map editor and the campaign maker merging leaves me having trouble imagining a situation where one doesn't canibalize the other as a special case or add-on. Boo, and I'm normally more creative than that. Having the ability to load map data into the campaign maker would make it much easier to get things like coordinates, zone IDs, tile-changing, etc right, but at the same time, this is probably best accomplished by loading the map as soon as someone creates a new campaign and specifies which map to use. (And loading maps can be slow, so I'm sure most people would want to avoid doing it too oft--oh, wait, I forg
ot, people who play Swamp have all the patience. XD )You could start from the campaign-maker interface, and add menus or map-browsing as an option when creating events or modifying the map. You could start from the map editor interface, and have commands for "Create a location event at the selected area", etc. The best way I can see not to privilege one over the other would be to start out with a main menu, then go from there with lots of simple swapping (simple from the user's perspective. Entangling all those components safely sounds like tricky business on the coding end.).URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=142592#p142592

Nice post Joseph. I concur with your thinking on the book to film adaptations. To be honest, and i may be frowned upon for saying it, but if they didn't make the hobbit an epic, the only thing it would be is an epic one watch, go in the box never to be seen again. I think the epic nature of the lord of the rings films drew a lot of people to watch, i think Jackson has a good idea of his audience after 10 years so, we now get an epic hobbit triligy, whether Tolkien fanatics want it or not lol. Don't get me wrong, i'm just as likely as the next Tolkien fan to pick apart the literature from cover to cover, but i see the films as separate, yet similarly related works of art.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=142585#p142585

Painless? No. Absolutely not. Not unless something super amazing has manifested in the past three years of which I am unaware. There was an online service that would let you beta their software and create one voice using only 45 minutes or so of recordings, somehow (the examples they gave sounded better than Philip's Festival examples, if I remember correctly; maybe comparable to Cepstral?). I don't remember the link, though (I apparently didn't bookmark it. . I think someone else (Gamedude?) posted a link here at some point.).Basically, if there was a way to do it that didn't require being an expert at something (negotiating messy super-complicated Festival code in Linux being the one with the least requirements), it would almost definitely be well known around here (maybe only in the way Dectalk's singing abilities are well known, but that's sti
ll better than what we have at present).(What I wouldn't mind having are some decent Nicvoices. The programs I've found with those aren't accessible enough for me to test, though.)URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=142578#p142578

Re: Can anyone provide a painless solution for this?

My tip?  Don't bother.  It's a ton of work.  A *ton* of work.  If you insist, look at festival and talk to Philip.  You'll get something useable, with enough tweaking and the like, but it will never come close to one of the commercial voices nor will it come close to Eloquence-that is, unless you have enough knowledge that you don't need to ask this question (I don't, only enough to know how hard it really is).  Making a voice from yourself requires recording your voice, splitting it into phonemes (the most basic building blocks for speech sounds for a language), and doing some data analysis specific to whatever approach you choose.  There's several approaches but all of them require at least some digital signal processing knowledge-it ranges from "make sure that these two wave files don't click when I concatenate them" all the way through to clever analysis and mathematical models of your vocal track
generated from the data you obtained from the recordings.  For the recording, you're looking at at least 10 hours of high quality microphone work, typically reading passages, in an anechoic chamber or recording studio if at all possible.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=142574#p142574

Re: Let's really dig in to Tolkiin and Lord of the Rings,

[[wow]], Dark - I was planning on answering Arq's question, but I see that is not necessary. As for Maiar present and active in Middle-earth during the Third age, you've probably covered it - though (and this is a bit of Tolkien lore I'm admittedly hazy on) isn't Tom Bombadil probably a Maia as well? And given that Goldberry is referred to as the daughter of the river, I'd assume she is, too. And obviously all the other Maiar were still "around" - just not around in the sense that they were necessarily active or present in Middle-earth. As for Galadriel, I think you're right that she's the oldest living Elf, though I think it's vaguely possible that Cirdan is as old as she. Unfortunately, generational lines don't tell you much, and since the Silmarillion rarely says when people were born relative to one another, it's difficult to say. All we know is when people were first mentioned, and who their parents were, and that re
ally doesn't give us much to go on.  For example, who's to say none of the first-generation Moriquendi (the Elves who never made the first pilgrimage to Valinor) aren't still around? Maybe Thranduil's older than everyone, haha.Arq, concerning swords from the movie, I am not ashamed to admit I have a few. They are some remarkably cool props, and I don't think there's anything wrong with owning them - it's not like having one incredible swordsmith's interpretation of Anduril is your way of saying "Clearly, this is what Tolkien wanted Anduril to look like." So I wouldn't be dissuaded by those who were ragging on the films, and various prop inaccuracies. On that note, if I may caution against letting a really interesting discussion of the books turn into "Let's hate on the movies," I will now take the opportunity to do so. Were the films perfectly faithful to the source material? Of course not. To ex
pect them to be would be to expect films that would fail utterly in every market imaginable. However, are they some of the best book-to-film adaptations in terms of remaining true to the spirit of the original work and, in comparison to many other novel to film adaptations, overwhelmingly full of and faithful to content from the novels? I would say, unequivocally, yes. If you have ever attempted to adapt a literary work into another medium, you will appreciate the overwhelming complexity of the task - and the more you appreciate that, the harder it is to see anything but master artistry and deep, deep love of the books in Peter Jackson and company's work. Now, if they'd let Arwen fight in Helm's Deep like they wanted...that would have been unforgivable. At any rate, I still want The Silmarillion as a TV series/miniseries.ArURL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=142572#p142572

And i'm saying this, deathmatch, the storyline, its going to stay the same, all that's changing is the games controls and new features are being added. Can anyone provide a painless solution for this?

Hey all,I've been poking around the net for awhile, and after being interested in singing screen readers, I found out that there is a possibility of creating voices for screen readers with sapi application functionality (Jaws, NVDA, window-eyes, etc).I found this program named InvTool, but that requires recording of my own voice, and that'll most likely get annoying.I saw a forum in which a program is used to plug in numeric values which determines different factors for voices, but I don't know the name, and whether or not it's free or even still available.Any tips on this subject would be great!Best Regards,LukeURL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=142567#p142567

Re: Solara

There is definitely a mummy character that attacks with claws. The enemy wizards are very raggedy looking and evil, and they conjure a spiked ball of frost that they hit your heroes with (and they do quite a bit of damage!). Unfortunately since I'd beaten all the levels there isn't an easy way to fight any given enemy, so I can't look how some of them look like. The new version added PvP tournaments --- I am in the "Master' division now, ranked #2 at about 1400 points. #1 is someone named Aaagh, he has a Paladin, two huntresses and Druid group. I use Paladin, Alchemist, Warlock, Huntress, though sometimes I swap in a Druid, another Huntress, Templar and Bard. Winning the tournament gets you 100 Esper ([[wow]]!), second place gets 50 Esper, 3rd place gets 25, and the top 50~ get [[gold]], up to 50k [[gold]] for being in top 10, if I remember correctly. The PvP is really fun, different people have different party groups and it's interesting to fig

And the army of spirits in Return of the King. Gods, those films did so, so much wrong.I am saddened the Hobbit was chosen to adapt, the writers want to turn it into an epic when it really isn't. It certainly has action aplenty and dramatic moments, but it remains a nice little children's novel.I could easily see cranking out 3 films from the Silmarillion, there's any number of epic battles, dynamic characters, and tragic moments to fill them. Heck, the Children of Hurin would make a delightfully dark fantasy film.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=142558#p142558

[Audiogames-reflector] diagnostic programs

diagnostic programs

Hi all.what are the best diagnostic programs that people have found that are accessable.I have used bellarc adviser, sisoft sandra and aieda32 in the past but havn't really gone there that much.I have also used the pcpitstop website for some new system testing. That does tell me some stuff but still if there are any other web based diags I'd like to know. For the offline diagnostics I am not really interested in every hex ariea of memmory or every hardware registry id, I can't read those or understand what they are even though I am a hacker.the family is going away in the next month for a month.I will bar a couple others be alone and the systems which are used including the windows desk server which is always under use will be offline for more than the minimal time needed. So far I have planned a defrag, and antivirus scan of critical arieas as well as standard disk checks for now but I do those and driver updates regular
ly.I want something which will give me all info on the box, drivers and device names, versions in case I have missed something.I also want to stress test all components safely, and do general diagnostics maybe some advanced ones.I'd like to have it all report back to me output to email or html on a usb drive I can easily access and action.I'd like them to be accessable and free as possible, oh and I'd like them to be easy to remove and not full of spyware, obviously if it shows promise and is cheap enough I may buy whatever but that would depend on what I got out of it all.I have not touched real diagnostics in about 10 years because I havn't needed to or had the time to bother with that.I'd like to get the lay of the land as it were, and what my options are, what is good and bad and why.WHat is easy to use, what is worth keeping and what is a dog to use.also if its safe.Ofcause each system will have a re
g  backup so if it all goes bad I can restore it but still. The server will have an image backup that I will probably update before I run my diags.I'd like all messages about everything in english, I really don't want to waid through assembly or numbers or graphics or anything.I don't care how long they take if they are portable and can run like that thats a bonus.I am still looking for a good utilities suite like norton was back before it became a dog as a nice extra addition as a system admin. At least I am looking for one for myself but it'd need to be non subscription or free or low cost for me to get it if I wanted to output it to the entire network of remote systems, which is why I will initially go for myself since it may not bee needed really.maybe for a couple remotes but there are some older units one hardly used that won't need anything like that.I'd like to hear your thoughts on this.URL: <

Ok, the mountain suggestion is awesome. I hope that gets implemented.Dodging cars, no, that's not realistic. There's a reason that roads have 2 to 8 lanes, and that is that cars go different directions on different lanes. If you drive on the lane where other cars are going in the opposite direction, that is illegal as hell. [[wow]]... this is fiddly.  just tried to put one in, and lucky i made a separate copy to try this out on, as i had to not only rewrite my code, but it broke the timing.I called the timers in a separate function, which i placed in gameplay.  I load that function, then try to check, using the timer in parenthesies, with the value i want it to check against. and what do i get? a super charged runnning thing that doesn't even alter at all if i change my value.  its getting somewhere i suppose.  its just  whenever i was coding i never really got the hang of these. looks like i'll just have to be patient with it and see if i can figure it out.if you want to see my broken code, i can upload that as well. The Doctor.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=142540#p142540

Think about it logically:You need a timer for movement. So you need to initialise that somewhere out of the way.movement=time.init()Then in the main loop just do a check for elapsed time then modify the time and variable as nessessary.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=142537#p142537

Hi,The addon is an eloquence only thing and will replace your existing eloquence files, but it won't overwrite your settings which is awesome. When you're done with the singing, it'll stay at the last value it was at, as in, it might still sound like a robot. Just do control plus NVDA plus s, and select eloquence again.I'm not entirely sure who created this version of the addon, so I can't give any credit or thanks to whoever provided it in the first place.I will keep the addon up for a while but if anyone objects and doesn't want me to share it around, I'll remove it.link is:https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/177 … nvda-addonURL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=142532#p142532

OK. Re: trying to write a simple side scroller in DFE

Ok, i understand you on that, but how would it be useful for making things like buildings?  I don't understand what angle you're viewing that from.  I'm always open to new concepts and ideas though, so go ahead.I've just managed to make the level fade in and the menu now plays a sound when it loads.  Just need to figure a way of making the player's flight variable not reset whenever they press control up arrow during flight.  I was thinking of tying silence to that so that it would appear as if nothing has happened.  This could also be done for climbing.  Would you suggest this as an appropriate course of action to tke?And for timers, i'll have a play about with them, see if i can get anything out of them.  I remember that you should never check a timer in the main loop, but where can you initialise it if its actually supposed to be in the main loop?  or would it be ok to check and initialise in th
e main file... your answer on this will help a lot as i'm currently considering migrating everything such as movement and such to different functions to be called later.  Also i'm hoping to make new levels, is this why you advised i use arrays/table things? Thanks again for giving me interesting ideas to think about,The Doctor.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=142523#p142523

Re: making JAWS speak native languages with eloquence, is it possible?

Well, the only way I could think of would to be to make a dictionary entry for every single word in your language.  You can't translate jaws, nor can you add voices.  If you want it speaking in your native language, you'll need to find a synthesizer that speaks your native language and that is available as a Sapi voice, instal it, and tell jaws to use it via the voice settings.  Every other method is going to take a minimum of weeks and a maximum of a couple years-writing your own synthesizer language is not trivial.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=142510#p142510

Hi all, I  have some questions regarding reaper and REallAccess... I can play midi notes on my midi keyboard just fine accept for the buffering. it takes like a sec or a half a second for the midi to play through the hardware's sound card. This may sound redundant, but I'm using Reaper on my windows 7 VM on my mac and I think that is one of the problems... now, for the real questions... How do I edit simple things in reaper such as a project for example and also, how would I go about editing midi  notes... I have tried but it goes by ticks and not by beet or mesure. So what would be the easiest way for me to edit midi notes using reaper with ReallAccess??? Re: Let's really dig in to Tolkiin and Lord of the Rings,

Good point dark, i figure those swords scream with historical inaccuracys. For example, something i was pondering was, if legolas was a real person, let's assume for a second middle earth was real, would he have used the types of weapons like is type of bow, or his apparent fighting knives? I think Legolas simply used a longbow, not sure what type it could have been. I make the mistake of comparing the films with the books to much lol.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=142505#p142505

Re: [Audiogames-reflector] trucker game, any suggestions?

Re: trucker game, any suggestions?

hi,as far as dodging is concerned, what about some random incidents where you are travelling uninterupted for quite a long time and suddenly you hear a car, coming from the front with a speed above normal, blowing its horns?that would add more fun to the game prompting the player to turn to  a safer side, or just avoiding the car. if he's not able to do so, some minor losses to the cargo or little damage to the truck.the same  could be effective for long highways,  while speeds of other vehicles be slowed down while on busy roads or in cities.just my suggestions.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=142504#p142504
