My hope lies in Cortana, windows new virtual assistant.  to the average user, cortana will be a siri for windows available on all future windows carrying devices.  This assistant will work much like Siri in that the user will be able to work with voice commands to present results and give users what they are looking for, but even more interesting is the fact that Cortana, unlike Siri, will have the ability to learn from the user's interactions and adapt on a global basis, global meaning that whatever Cortana has learned will carry over to any other device the user happens to own that also contains windows. And yet Cortana is much more from what I'm reading.  cortana is a makeover, a redesign of the windows core services that will be included in future versions of windows including xbox, more than just the metro interface that we've already seen pop up in windows 8.  Cortana will not only access information on your phone to both respon
d and try to anticipate what your queries might be, but also use MS's services such as bing to further assess information and bring it all together to respond as quickly and efficiently as possible. What does this mean for us, you ask?  Siri already enables us to do quite a few things with our phones, everything from texting to calling, sending emails, ask for directions and useful information, but this is all on mobile devices.  Cortana is more than the virtual assistant on a mobile device.  If what MS says is true and they want to integrate its capabilities directly into the windows shell, making it just as much a PC thing as an app available to people with tablets and smartphones, they will most likely want it to do something greater than Siri.  I honestly wouldn't know or could even begin to guess to what degree, but with so many users on windows PCs, and much done on PCs from facebook to personal record keeping and finance tracking, fro
m skyping to gaming, from media consumption to extensive calculation and programming, i'd have to say it would be big.  Then again my expectations might be higher than they should be, and perhaps this won't affect screen reader users in any way at all and I've dived off the deep end and taken in more water than I know what to do with, but since seeing what MS can do to narrator I can't quite put anything past them anymore.  today we can set up our own OS from scratch without sighted assistance, thus it wouldn't surprise me to discover that installing it completely without sighted assistance on a reformatted hard drive in the near future, can practically navigate the net without the use of an external screen reader, though admittedly external software still does the job better, and why not, given that it's coded by users to deal with user specifics?Still, my gut feeling is there, and I've not been as disappointed with MS as I
probably should be.  One of Apple's greatest weaknesses is that it hinders innovation; voiceover has gone almost nowhere in quite awhile, and technology has marched on.  While handwriting with VO on IOS 7 might present something fun to play with, I don't believe it's truly useful.  On Macs, this voice over down arrow/uparrow for interaction with items seems like a rather clunky way of doing that very thing, and the method by which you select and deselect items certainly could use less key pressing?  The item chooser could show you different categories of items, rather than presenting this massive list of things that won't help you unless you know what you're looking for.Yes, I'm a spoiled windows user, who likes the simplicity of the system I grew up on.  Yes, I relish in the fact that I can get things done faster and with more ease.  Yes, I am seeing that more and more of what can be done on macs can be done on wind
ows, and I am seeing less reasons to buy into the apple community, and while you might have reasons for keeping it that are slightly personal, you can't argue with me on its benefits outnumbering the environment I  know so well.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=148512#p148512

2013-09-13 Thread AudioGames.net Forum — General Game Discussion: Dark

Re: braillemone a pokemon port for visually impaired players

Hay, nice to finally try this. I like thus far, especially the physical descriptions of the pokemon and their attacks, this is one thing a lot of games are missing.Firstly, as a suggestion you might considder adding some sapi controls to the game since as it is it seemed my sapi voice was rather like louder and slower than I would've liked. while this is of course setable in the control panel, it's often the case that different games have different requirements for sapi voices according to the background effects and music. So the ability to change the voice rate, and the rate of music and sapi within the game can be helpful. Then, when your pokemon levels after a battle it might be nice to know what it's  new level   is without having to check on the information, eg, "blind duck got 150 experience and is now level 28" just to know how you've done. finally, I have a couple of mechanic questions about the game.
firstly, about levelling pokemon. I gather you can take three with you but am I right that they get experience only while fighting, eg, your pokemon on the bench don't gain experience or participate in the battle  unless your first pokemon is  ko'd.  Then, regarding power points and attacks. I gather that each power point   basically is how many times you can perform the attack, however, how do you recharge them? and does your pokemon gain  gain any extra? Also, a vague elemental weakness chart might be nice as well, since while some are obvious, others aren't and it's a long time since I've seen the series . Indeed,  eventually some instructions or an in game tutorial might be a good idea for those  who aren't familiar with pokemon  mechanics.I look forward  to see
ing where this one goes.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=148507#p148507

Re: A very interesting point my dad and I came upon

Hi.Hmmm, interesting discussion.Well, I don't know. I've only used one version of Mac OS X, so I don't know if this is true but I don't think Apple changes the User Interface of the mac with every update like Microsoft. That's one of the reasons I switched to the mac.As for apple's Office suite, I've found that I can open doc and docx files in Text Edit just fine. Even if you want an office suite, you can buy each program separately for $20 per program, unlike the I don't know how much price for Microsoft Office.Of course the big issue is VoiceOver. It is built into the computer and in general seems more stable than most Windows screen readers, probably because it was designed to be.As to macs being more expensive, well they are but I look at it this way.You get better hardware and software, not to mention a screen reader with the macbook air for only $999. Now, that is cheaper than buying a windows comp
uter and Jaws or what ever. Of course you could use NVDA, which is very good.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=148505#p148505

Re: super football, please help!

Unfortunately, I don't have the game, as I just tried the demo but decided not to buy it as basically it seemed to just devolve down to boppit once you worked out the key combinations.. I'd would however very much suggest checking the page in the db which can be Found here, since as the instructions aren't clear on some points I did try to make that page a little more comprehensive with how to play the game. Basically you swich between players with the numbers and enter, use spacebar to kick the ball, and hold arrows for the direction, and when the opposition (called interclub), have the ball, you just hit the right number key to get the player to tackle, for example if the gae says "interclub 1" you hit 7, 2 =6 etc.If the opposing team got the ball to the goal, you then had to switch to your goaly, and defend your goal as Jack said above. Oh, and according to the
db page (which I did write after playing the game), the the goal keepers' punches are reversed, so when you hear the voice saying "over here" on the right you hit the left control and visa versa, (use the spacebar for center). though of course you'll need to listen for the ball sound in the center of the sterrio field before you hit the button otherwise you'll miss. Hth.As I said sorry this is a little vague, the game basically boiled down to learning the right key combinations and numbers and repeating over and over again, which is why I never bought it, it just felt like a glorified boppit to me.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=148498#p148498

Re: A purmanent road to rage server!

In order to do this long-term you will need port forwarding.  In order to figure out port forwarding for your router, you're going to just have to try.  This is an unfortunate truth of port forwarding and not me trying to be standoffish.  Alternatively, get a windows VPS or, should the game be capable of it (but I'm' 99.99% sure it isn't and would like to point out to future game authors that their games should be) run it on a $5/month Linux VPS.  Windows VPSs are a bit pricy. As for making the game automatically port forward, well, that's not as easy as it sounds.  I've looked.  The problem is that allowing any application to port forward means you might as well not have a firewall or any real internet security.  The specific technique typically used requires a server in the middle.  If you are going to have a server in the middle so your game can support automatic port forwarding and should your game be
massively multiplayer only, make that the game server instead.  In truth, only the server runners need worry about it and it isn't that big a deal.  Also, the specific technique fails for some people; when it does, the middle-man server must act as another router in the chain, which has its own interesting problems (either a piece of software starts dynamically modifying iptables or similar, which is fiddly and possibly not even possible and requires you to run it as root, or you have to implement your own program to copy the packets correctly which involves a custom protocol of some sort.  Alternatively, these people aren't able to play).  incidentally, if someone actually has a library for doing automatic port forwarding for almost everyone without hole-punching, I am extremely interested.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=148503#p148503

As I remember, basicallywhen you have the ball, you will be told what number player has it, and will hear a sound from the left or right. when in the center, you hit the arrow to kick the ball in a given direction to another player, then press the number key corresponding to that player. (you will hear a voice  saying "come on" but you can pretty much ignore that with your players).I can't remember the order of what players what players  are where, but if you check the documentation you will find out. The object is to pass the ball to your two center forwards, or your striker, who I believe were 7 8 and 9, and then kick at the goal. If you got a pass wrong, or mis
sed the ball the opposition would get it. You'd be told what number opposing player had the ball, and you'd need to tacle with the correct number player of yours, again, check the documentation for the combinations. Actually, after pressing Space to insure you're in review, you should exit. The thing is, the key you pressed to name the state is only seen by the Apple *after* the state is saved, so when you restore from the state, it hasn't seen that keypress yet. Hitting Space while in Review mode, after just having entered Review, which is where you saved the state, should announce the line and column of the real curser, then exit review, so exiting is not necessary. Remember, your request to look at line A hadn't happened yet when state A was saved.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=148494#p148494

Re: MessApple, Or, The Return Of Apple2E For the VIP!

Eureka! I've figured out how to effectively play any of the dos 3.3 Eamon adventures. It's a bit cumbersome, but it can be done! First of all, thanks go to Jaybird for posting the new eamon folder with the talking main hall and to Trenton for finding the zipped collection. Now, the best way to go about this is to create an eamon folder within your apple folder where you should extract all dsk files found in the doss33 folder within the zipped archive. This is so you don't confuse the non-bootable games with your bootable disks found in the disks folder especially if you start with the apple front end launcher. You should also copy the eaglist.htm file found at the top level of the archive to your new eamon folder because this is the key to finding your games. Now, put the eamontlk.dsk file in your disks folder and boot it. When you get through registration and press 1 at the main hall to go on an adventure, you'll get a prompt to insert the adventure disk in dr
ive 1 and press c to continue. Follow the ReadMe file instructions for switching disks. Just don't use c as your state key. Example, hit scroll-lock+insert, then shift+f7, then a, then escape to power off and save in state a. Now, suppose you wanted to play Jungles of Vietnam. You'd consult the eaglist file to discover that this game is 59 in the list, so the disk you want is d3_059.dsk. Get to a command prompt and change directories to your apple folder. Example, "cd \apple2" Don't type the quotes. Type "mess apple2ee -flop1 eamon\d3_059.dsk -state a" to power back up where you left off. Press C to begin your adventure. The slightly trickier part comes when your adventure ends or you are killed because at this point, you are asked to make sure your main hall disk is in and then press any key to continue. As I posted before, the trouble is that it may get cranky when you assign your state key. So, the solution is to enter Textalker's review mo
de by pressing control+l. Now, power off and save your state by pressing scroll lock+insert, f7, a, escape. While in review mode, Textalker will intercept that a as a command to start review at line a rather than having apple try to load your main hall disk. You should be back at command prompt, so type "mess apple2ee -flop1 disks\eamontlk.dsk -state a" and press return. Hit spacebar to insure you are still in review mode. Press escape to exit review, and then hit any key as instructed. You should be returned to the main hall without incident. Hope this helps, and happy gaming.AndrewURL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=148492#p148492

raygrote, thanks for your willingness to help.I do believe .brf files are basically 8 dot computer braille. There is a slight difference in that they use some characters that also use dot 7 in computer braille where they should be using the character that does not.For example I know they use a backslash to do dots 1, 2, 5, and 6 when they should use a pipe / vertical bar because it doesn't include dot 7.I think there's one or 2 other characters they do that with.In the past I've actually opened .brf files in notepad or notepad++ and done a find and replace for all those characters so I could read it correctly with my braille display set to computer braille. What programs are you supposed to read .brf in?  I actually don't know since I always just use notepad++ and do the simple find and replaces.Anyway, if you're interested in writing a tutorial in that format I think it would be quite helpful, and hopefully fo

Re: A very interesting point my dad and I came upon

Interesting Luke. Apple are a bit bad with the proprietary software and addins, though in fairness to them if you buy in to the hole model that's fine. I don't myself agree on the presentation issue however, since windows 8 has a very similar interface to tablets and iphones, and like apple, microsoft have since windows 7 reduced the amount of customization. Myself, I think a huge factor in this is simply legacy compatibility. For example,  my university and much of the academic community use ms word format as a standard. When I  investigated if mac had access to these sorts of  files I was  told not without considderable mucking about. Now,  I fully well can believe mac has as good an office sweet, however you cannot expect academics who have  thousands of papers,  research notes etc, who have all been  sending  documents in ms word format around for about the last  20 years to all either go and buy m
acs and instantly switch to whatever apple's office solution is, and only access their existing materials with more difficulty. Unfortunately,  much of apple's intigration with existing file types and structures is grudging at best, heck I notice this fact myself whenever I try to put one of my carefully  indexed folders of music or audio books onto my iphone, only to have itunes insist on it's own organization. I'm not of course arguing that it can't! be done, manifestly you can open different file types on mac, however the fact that it is much easier to do so on windows is likely a major factor. Of course, I  freely admit my experience with macs is limited. this is based just on some research I've done, plus on using ios which, while not actually  a full mac os does at least have some of apple's functionality, but it does trike me this legacy compatibility is one of the major obstacles to people getting ma
cs.Indeed, I suspect one of the cheif reasons institutions use macs more commmonly is that  institutions are often able to go from scratch, and don't have a lot of legacy files they need to support.Whether in fact mac or pc is better I don't know. I'm not really in a position to say, but I do suspect that this is at least part of the reason individual users are choosing not to buy macs. That and of course, macs are more expensive .URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=148488#p148488

It had two somewhat confusing movies that took bits from the manga, and it came out looking like something David Lynch could have made. What I was talking about was the anime which consists of two 26 episode seasons. And yeah, it's complicated. And if your curious, here's the summaries for Murky and PH.For young Murky, the life of the labourer and servant is all he has ever known, raised without knowledge of freedom or the concept of choice. But when the brutality of his newest masters in Fillydelphia becomes all too much and the heroic escape of a certain little mare takes place before his eyes, Murky finally discovers a life worth fighting for.His own.Broken from the indoctrination, Murky sets out to reclaim the freedom that has been denied to him throughout his entire life. Against abusive slavers, a fatal illness wracking his body and the attentions of ponies that often cannot be trusted, Murky sets out to achieve the impossible: to esc
ape Fillydelphia.But... can a pony with a set of shackles as a cutie mark ever truly be free at all?Stable 99 is an okay place to live. Sure, the place has seen better days, but the poor mares down in maintenance can't be blamed for the lack of upkeep. After all, the stable's been running on recycled parts for two hundred years, and a lot of important stuff got broken in the Incident. And the bucks might complain about the lack of freedom compared to the mares, but why bother? All they have to do is get laid all day. Until they get retired, that is, but don't think about that. And yeah, the mares might not have much freedom either, but you can't take any chances, especially after what happened last time...Okay, maybe it's not the best place to live, but at least it's better than being outside. After all, with the door broken, there's no chance that somepony might get in and cause problems. It would take somepony with knowledge of
how the stable works to get that thing open. Even then, how would they know it's safe? There was a war, remember? Better to just wait for the Overmare to say it's okay than take chances, even if she does have an ego problem. Just don't think about it, okay? The door is opened and a band of murderous, cannibalistic raiders immediately swarms in. Before the death count can get too high though, black jack, worst security mare in the stable, lures them out with a mysterious data file stashed on her PipBuck. With a cybernetic monster on her heels and a reluctant companion at her side, she sets out into the Equestrian Wasteland, determined to discover exactly what those raiders wanted so badly. It isn't long before the troubled mare finds herself delving through the dark secrets of a cursed city where the greatest horrors of the war were unleashed. A very interesting point my dad and I came upon

As we all know, both Apple and Microsoft have been wildly known for their competitiveness against each other.  Many debates have been pursued in an attempt to glorify one over the other, and essentially define one'ssuperiority over the other.  But what exactly makes onebetter than the other?  What is that one characteristic that keeps PC above Mac?  It's simple but complex. My dad had pointed out that Macs seem to only be used in professional settings and work environments.  Many schools use Macs, for both students and teachers.  Video and audio editing are also done by Macs, particularly in higher-quality production studios.  If we take a look in the average person's household, you'll find a PC, which is noted by its user friendly interface.  But there's one more thing.PC's are prominent for being user friendly, and Macs are known for being used in professional environments. But if we think about i
t, both do exactly the same thing, like everything in technology, but the way they do is presented differently.  One can't really say that the functionality of one is better than the other, since it mirrors the other's functionality.  As I have said, it is just presented in a different platform. Now, we break it down to what people want and think is easy.  This is where PC holds the edge over Mac.  It's easier to understand, and it's also universal in that multiple devices can synchronize with each other, with versatility in that PC's can sync with Google and Android products. With Macs, well, I cannot say from experience, but I can say that people have a hard time understanding the layout of Apple's OS.Though it's more difficult, they both still do the exact same thing.  It's just the way it's presented, which personally, shouldn't be a bashing factor for Apple.I just found this int
eresting after I elaborated it inside my mind.Best Regards,LukeURL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=148483#p148483

Re: Questions about learning Nemeth.

I almost miss the days where typing braille was as simple as using a big, bulky typewriter style, good old Perkins brailler.  Now, I feel the electronic and technological innovation really puts a damper on learning the code: it takes away from the structural academics and learning process and glosses upon the computerization of it.I personally find it best to learn braille one on one with hard braille on paper.  At least for me, viewing braille, especially mathematically, is just easier to handle and comprehend more than viewing braille on a notetaker.  But that's just my humble opinion. As I have stated before: if you have a good understanding of the alphabet and mostly the beginning stages of braille, then nemeth isn't much more complicated than just making the connection to arithmdtic and matehmatics.  I haven't learned braille recently enough to really explain the best way to learn the code, but if I put my mind to it, I'm s

Hi Ianr,I know both computer and nemeth code, to varrying degrees... unfortunately, my knowledge wouldn't exactly in a big huge forum post. i twould be hard to explain without being able to write the symbols and show examples. I wonder how easy it is for people to read brf files, because I was tinking of typing one up for something like this. If that doesn't work, maybe i could somehow write up a file in computer braille, that would read on a braille display like grade 2 braille. Of course it would come out readfing like garbage when reading with speech, or in print, but it would look fine in braille. Either way I have to be able to braille examples to explain it, or else it'll get confusing LOL.If anyone has any other suggestions, I'd be eager to hear them. Ghost In The Shell can't be all that advanced, as I was exposed to it because it was what my 12 year old cousin was watching at the time.  It was on, like, YTV (the Canadian kids channel) at 10 or 11 at night.  I haven't read those other two fics, but I'll be sure and give them a look; thanks!URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=148471#p148471

Re: Swamp, zombie fps by Aprone

mehgcap, I'm glad you mentioned this, I was going to mention that a couple days ago and forgot. Don't know if that was an intentional change, or if some other change broke it, but I'd love to have it fixed either way.majoz, it's actually fairly simple to understand why Aprone's not going to implement anything significantly new, other than bug fixes.1. Swamp was intended as a small Halloween game, and to add all the nifty stuff everybody wants would probably require him to completely rewrite Swamp from scratch.2. Aprone's got other new games in mind he wants to start before he turns old and gray, and if he were to continue adding new requested features to Swamp, he'd never get around to anything else until he got around to dying. Maybe a solution to this problem would be for Aprone to hand Swamp over to somebody else willing to continue development, once he's released 3.0 and called it done, I don't know.3. I rather suspect he's getting tired of the hackers, cheaters, and cry babies constantly screwing other players, causing trouble, or demanding they have this or that item returned to them for whatever reason. We've all got nifty ideas we'd like put in the game, but at what point do we say enough's enough. Well, Aprone's said enough's enough, and since he's the developer, his word's law.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=148456#p148456

2013-09-13 Thread AudioGames.net Forum — Off-topic room: raygrote

Re: Making Music with MIDI

Personally, to make midi music, I use QWS with my Yamaha psr-s700 keyboard... thinking of upgrading to a Mox6, and hoping to dear God it won't be a nightmare to use with QWS, since all I need is the ability to sequence with its awesome sounds... I don't need any of the built-in arranger stuff, if there is any. I believe the sounds on the mox6 are from the Motif XS. I have used VST plugs before, but only the high-end ones are really what'll get you awesome performances. I don't have that many, though. And i also use Bassmidi with soundfonts. Bassmidi and Coolsoft don't seem to be that much different from each other, since Bassmidi can certainly use multiple fonts in a stack, though instruments will override each other if they are in the same places in both fonts. Now, perhaps this is off topic, and if it is, I'll make a new one, but I really want to get into using Kontakt libraries. I've heard multiple times that with some tweaking, screen re
aders can at least help access it enough to load a library and play with some of it. I've downloaded a few libraries, and for the most part, the samples are in wav format, which I can fairly easily copy the wavs and make a sound font from them. However, some libraries have encripted samples, and I wholeheartedly think that 99 percent of commercial libraries aren't so open, leaving me no choice but to load the library in the very inaccessible Kontakt interface. As of now, Kontakt is nothing but a large brick on my system and has done nothing to encourage me. so, buying a commercial library like Orange Tree stuff (which btw sounds awesome), would almost certainly be a waste until I get it working. I believe I have Kontakt 4, though I hear 5 has been out and some libraries require it, and of course I didn't buy the thing, I got the free demo or whatever it is... not sure how the licensing works. Perhaps I should just get the latest free version now. And i also hear some
libraries require the full registered version of Kontakt... but I'll probably end up using the free one until I am sure I want to buy the full.If I could use Kontakt, I'd preferably want to use the VST version, as I have my audio and midi set up in VST Host and wouldn't want to set that up in Kontakt standalone, though if the standalone is the only way, I wont' complain. So, if there was perhaps someone kind enough who could point me in the right direction to loading a Kontakt patch? Not sure if editing any of the settings is possible or not, I'm going to guess that it's not so easy to do that, but I do like customizing my sounds so would like to know where the accessibility is on that front.Sorry if I am asking a lot, but I'm getting jealous of screen reader users being able to take advantage of Kontakt. It's times like these that I wish I could at least get by with magnification, that way I'd sort of have the best of both wo

Re: new project: Longfics: daily novel length fanfic recommendations

@darkabomination: Perhaps.  Personally, when watching or listening to something, voice acting is absolutely the most important quality for me. If the voice acting isn't good, even if the plot is original or interesting, I just feel my blood pressure going up and up and up, until I eventually just have to quit in frustration.  I can't listen to any of the Graphic Audio radio dramas for exactly that reason; I originally read the deathlands novels in text form, and some of those actors get the accents, intonation, and vocal sound of the characters completely, utterly, hopelessly, wrong!  It just makes me want to explode into a million little tiny bits!  In every dub I have ever heard, the ADR is so obvious it makes me cry tears of sadness and pain.  The volume is wrong, the timing is off, and the voice actors are obviously in a studio booth...when a scene is taking place in a cave, and all the sound effects have an echo, the voices should also echo!
I have never heard a dub that gets this right.  I also find that, because I have no vision at all, the incorrect timing, poor line reading, and bad vocal processing make it almost impossible for me to follow the plot of anime shows.  Animated shows without DVS are hard enough to follow without vision in the first place, and dubbing, for me, turns the challenge from difficult to utterly impossible.  Maybe if you can see a little, or are more familiar with anime tropes and Japanese culture, this is different.  But of the 3 animes I tried, I was lost within the first 4 or 5 minutes; after watching two episodes of one particular show, the only thing I was left with was that there were floating eggs, or maybe foam, either in outer space or in the ocean, and people or possibly robots were born out of them for unclear reasons, and then inexplicable things happened that involved cancer or laser beams or death or something.  Also, talking cats?  This is n
ot enough clarity for me to get any enjoyment from.  If that makes me a narrow minded racist jerk, so be it.  I doubt it's ever going to change. While I haven't ever watched more than 1 episode of My Little Pony, I have found at least 2 novel length MLP fanfics that I enjoyed.  They're in the queue to be posted, at some point, never fear!URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=148446#p148446

To be fair, anime can get much more experimental than American cartoons, so you could have just hit an unlucky group. Re: MessApple, Or, The Return Of Apple2E For the VIP!

There was indeed an Eamon master disk with textalker preloaded. However, the kicker is having to switch disks to run adventures other than beginners cave. As far as I remember, each new adventure disk would have to go in flopy1 thus necessitating the disk switching approach described in the readme file. The problem is, since the state assignment key is intercepted by the virtual machine, we'd have to experiment and come up with a key that won't cause the master program to try and load beginner's Cave or any other program on disk before the switch can be accomplished. If somebodhy has an image of the old talking master disk, we can always experiment.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=148444#p148444

Re: new project: Longfics: daily novel length fanfic recommendations

That's a bit narrow-minded. Dub standards are much higher than they used to be and you can expect pretty good quality dubs these days. And I will always  dislike 4Kids for bastardizing the original script's contents. They removed anything that could possibly imply violence, religious symbolism, or any reference to death so it could be watered down and Americanized. The My Little Pony fandom has produced many fanfics topping the 10 word mark with crossovers being quite common. Doctor Who is ubiquitous enough that a twelth incarnation named Doctor Hooves is used as shared background across fics. He was caught in a time storm during a Dalek invasion and was flung into the Equestria universe after regenerating into a pony.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=148443#p148443

Ross,If Aprone gave you your weapons back, do you know how many other people will start demanding he give them the 10 fuel they  lost 10 months ago and everything else since? Plus how can he prove you really lost those items? I'm not saying I don't believe you, I mean it's happened to me as well, when I lost random stuff for no reason, got instant death bug, and countless other examples. but we must be realistic here. I know it's frustrating cause I've felt that frustration before, but hey, at least now the item loss bug appears to be fixed, even though some people still complain they lost stuff. I think that's probably due to the fact they had old inventory data, however if they die, then that should no longer happen. This is test I'm refering to, just in case people start suiciding on main rofl. Aprone, if you are indeed contemplating doing this, then please let us know in advance, this way we can use our fuel and such, unless you me
an on test, in that case I've died on there so many times you can do the recet immediately. roflrofl.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=148435#p148435

Re: Star Trek: Ship Command - a windows operating system upgrade, IfYouWil

thanks for the site, i'll have a look.@LocutusFor clarification:This project is essentially an overlay for windows, that handles keyboard input and hopefully window titles in the future builds, allowing the user to build their own picture of being on the bridge of a star ship.  This could, in the future be expanded to ships at sea, other sci-fi series, etc potentially, although that is only a minor idea.  The main principle of this is just to simulate the ships of the star trek universe, but isn't just limited to the federation. The concept of alerts would be used to allow the user to immerse themselves in a high intensity environment (a battle for example, and I am willing to mix the various random ambience effects to make sure they don't clip or clash with each other if they play together etc), and will let them maybe make other changes to the ambient background.  Each alert could be triggered by a different sequence of shor
tcuts (a plus b and r for red, a plus b and g for green, and a plus b and y for yellow, for example.  these aren't currently used, but if this feature does get developed and implemented, these may come into use.)It will enable the user to continue with their day-to-day windows use whilst also appealing to any fans of star trek or otherwise.  It was never designed to be a game, but a fun project that I think there is a potential to expand upon.Is this clear enough?  If not, then please do ask any further questions. The Doctor.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=148437#p148437

So, some of us were just talking and there was a mention that Aprone wanted to clear out everyone's inventories. Players would keep their levels, but all gear and points would be gone. Personally, I'd be fine with that if it meant the item loss bug would be permanently gone. Also, if it meant my level 124 character, Alex, could go back to regular 124 and not HC 5, I'd doubly love it! In fact, if there's any way to undo an HC player through some kind of reset that Aprone was contemplating anyway, I say please, please go for it. I thought HC mode would be way different than it is, and I regret making the switch with my level 124 every time I think about it. I never use him now, hoping he'll eventually return to level 1 so I can at least use him again...URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=148433#p148433

I don't know about whether Michael will leave with Saul and Victor. It'll be interesting to see if it's just them who go actually. Since Michael is emotionally unavailable, I'm pretty sure he'll take CJ's offer to stay with her, since I'm pretty sure that the way she asked him that question means that it's more than his military experience she wants. She did the same thing to Saul, but Saul was smart enough to reject it immediately. Michael, probably not so much since he just had a not so good run in with Pegs. It'll be interesting to see the tension between Burt, Riley and the others as they do as they please. I'm not surprised if Riley's breakdown is just talk and that's not actually how it'll happen.
