Well nocturnus, i know the stream of consciousness method since it is largely how I write myself, I just have a general idea on something and then see where it goes, however as I said for me at least it is then a matter of checking and checking and checking agin, simply getting a feel for the rythm and stance of the hole peace and responding accordingly, indeed usually for me how good my essays were tended to be a matter of how much I checked. Regarding arguements, well in philosophy certainly the matter isnt so much looking at standardised positions as it is understanding a number of positions, then developing your own ideas creatively for one, especially when there are so many different variables. For example the question isnt merely be an atheist or be a christian. There is biblical interpretation, the question of divine inspiration or actual literal divine translation, the question of religious experience, philosophy of science and the problem of indu
 ction and a huge range of other factors, and indeed only some may be open to arguement at all. To me, the skillful question is someone who understands a huge variation in these factors and where each comes from and is able to creatively state their own position in a coherent and detailed way, not just switch sides, indeed when the question comes down to such a fundamental world view its pretty difficult to. indeed this is why I first enjoyed philosophy as an academic subject since it was your understanding and creativity as much as your logic that made matters dependent, though now Ive become a little jaded on the process of academic debate simply because I no longer believe people choose their positions by entire rational choice for all that they argue in favour of them according to logic, but thats a matter for another topic.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=1543

Hello folks. Danne, here are some suggestions of games that seems to be missing in the audiogames comunity.First, Id like to see a trading card game accessible for the blind. Like Yugi-oh, Magic the Gathering... We can even create our own card game to avoid copyright issues.Ok, the second one doesnt seem too hard to code, so there it goes. A fishing game. I have seem just one around so far and it was not working at all. We can add some major elements to it like a history line, some unlockable places, new fishing equipment for purchasing like boats, rods, baits, lines etc.Well the third can be a rpg. I can help with history line and perhaps some sound effects. Well good news for everyone. I E-mailed the developer of vendetta and he said that while there has been an absense due to some bad circumstances in his life, hes now back developing the game, so we should hopefully be seeing some updates in the future hurrah! I dont know what you mean about an iphone for blind people since blind people already use the standard one (what would be the point of another). There have been a lot of programs and aides that interpret colours and such in sound but Ive not really heard of many that work especially well accept on a general level like aprones colour identifyer, but well see what happens in the future, and indeed how much it costs! In terms of the Iphone though there really isnt need for anything specialist since voice over comes with the phone anyway, you can take it completely out of its box and use it from brand new no trouble with no sighted assistance required as indeed I did myself. Regarding the inquisitor, well yes there was also a pc version, however that is an adventure game so it was easy to create one, with something like papsangre the controls are implicit to the Iphone and as Slj said the game would be pretty b

To the person that wonders why we know so much about Vocaliser, my guess is that theyre just incredibly popular, not just on iPhones but Siri did probably play a big part. IE, Karen Jacobson already did voices for GPSs... so someone was bound to notice that Siri sounded similar. Ditto for John Brigs, whom interestingly enough Apple had later asked not to talk about the fact that he voiced Siri. No surprise there, they sure like to keep their secrets. Hi.Well, the only interesting project he mentioned which someone havent looked at before is a great math tool for blind. Otherwise, others has already made something workable out of those ideas. I dont agree that FS might be able to make a better screenreader for Mac, since the technologies which are still used in Jaws 15 is old school. Need a new cane

Just curious, does anyone know where I might make a purchase from?I had a standard folding aluminum cane with elastic cord on the internals. One of the cords got severed though, and besides that, I dont generally like folding canes because of the bulk when collapsed.I remember I once had a cane that was fiber glass and was telescoping. Essentially, it could retract completely into the handle, meaning that it could feasibly be tucked in a deep pocket or in the inside pocket of a laptop case. Unfortunately, all of the usual sites I check when buying a new cane seem to have discontinued the product. Does anyone know why, or where I can find one?Alternatively, does anyone have suggestions for a new type of cane to try? I dont much like folding canes, and by no means am I interested in a straight cane. I had a telescoping cane for awhile that was more like a hiking pole, and the individual joints could be secured by twisting. That one was nice, but cumbers

I had a lot of trouble with that stage as well. The two things to keep in mind are... the camera will save your life. Literally... and as bladestorm said in the main topic for the game, never go the same way twice. For the mine, where you start at the top and must collect all crystals:The crystals must be collected in descending order. Use the object list, and then figure out paths with the camera. Some paths are not obvious. You cannot go back up to missed crystals. There is one tricky jump: to get from the far right to the far left for the first time, you must climb up two little 1-block platforms jump, and hold left until you land.For the mine entrance with the rolling stones:once you pass the left-right platforms, youll be on the left; beware of the trap (theres a 2-block wide space there. Fall, dont jump). Hi guysI was wondering if some could provide some information on some thoughts I have been having recently, regarding the advertising of audio-only games. What I am wondering is two things really;1. How do you hear about new releases?2. What are the best ways to advertise within in an audio-only game?The reason I ask this is I was recently playing a few mobile games, and I found the majority of free games have a small collection of adverts that cycle through at the top/bottom of the screen or have a full screen advert before the game/in between levels. These are essential to making money from a game in many cases.Now would this be acceptable in an audio-only game on mobile platform? Because I was wondering about the individuals playing the game. I envisage games designed specifically for the visually impaired/blind but a visual advert would be rendered almost useless. So alternatives would surely be an audio advert? Could anybody provide some info

No idea on where to get one. I tried one of those telescoping fibreglass ones, but the problem I found is it just didnt last. Someone booted it out of my hand while I was walking along about a week after I got it and the fibreglass cracked, this is why I went back to using the folding aluminium ones you describe since they are stronger. You can also prevent the elastic from going by not storing them folded up when at home, say by leaning them up in the corner of the room, and only folding them when you are out. This way I made canes last years, indeed my current cane is a good ten years old, albeit I have used it far less in the last two years ever since getting my guide dog.Myself, when I used to use a folding cane and carried a laptop Id just thread it through the top carry strap of the laptop bag so it wasnt a problem, or just dump it under the chair I was sitting on if I didnt have my laptop with me.while I agree they are fairly bul

hi,ok this issue is driving me totally insane port forwarding worked perfectly fine once but it misteriously stopped working 5 6 days agoI enabled UPNP, port forwarding and when the ports still didnt forward, I enabled dmzstill didnt workwhich is crazy since dmz basicly forwards all ports to the specified ip addressbtw, my ip was static in my router modemI replaced my modem do to other issuesit was a 8 year old modemnow I finished setting up my brand new modem routerhowever even though I also enabled UPNP, port forwarding and dmz on this modem ports still appear closed from a internet port checkUtorrent claims my ports are open and fine but I can tell they are closed due to no peers connecting to mesince I torrent alot ports being open is vital for meI suspect that somehow my İSp is blocking portsbut it still might be the modemdoes anyone know a solution to thismy modem is a airties air 5341URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=154433#p154433

Yeah, it does feel like the guide overcomplicated things with the protalker and the locale settings and such.I just installed the NVDA instant translate addon, and things were suddenly ten times simpler (though BK2 and 3 are playable without translations to a limited extent, especially BK2 since the menus and shops are translated in-game).Someone did propose we try to hire a professional translator, but no one really seems to know how to go about doing that, and I dont think any of the developers replied with how well this would work (i.e, if we got a full translation for Bokurano Daibouken, would Yukio have to go in and manually replace all the Japanese strings with the translations, then release a compiled English version? Is there an easier way?).Ooh, actually! All this talk of setup is quite silly if someone could just create a portable version of NVDA with the addons included to distribute with the game. Or even better, a simple third-party program t
 hat monitors the clipboard for changes and outputs the translation via sapi (or maybe the universal screen reader API). In that case, all one would need to be careful of is whether or not the Japanese gets scrambled for OS settings, which such a program could probably notice and warn you about.(*Looks toward Aprone for some reason*)...*Then remembers that could write a clipboard-monitor program easily in BGT**Doesnt think BGT would like Japanese text, though**and would need it to support Google translate somehow*... Actually, yeah, I think someone should do this. Itd work much better than the lower-level stuff people (especially non-NVDA users with locale issues) currently need to do to get translation set up. Hi Jo.Well the problem with audio adverts is that the person either A, has to sit through them everytime he/she plays the game, thus making them pretty anoying, (heck, some audio game developers have very long logo sounds which users request to skip), or B, if the advert is skipable someone will not hear it. A similar problem actually exists in terms of adverts and screen readers in textual games, either the user will not read the adds at all, or the adds will be a pain in the rear making their actual purpose moot. This is intrinsically a problem to do with presenting information in audio, since in audio a person cannot skim read and get instant access to a smaller peace of information but has to either sit through or bypass entirely. My personal suggestion would be instead of forcing adverts on the user of a game while he/she plays, actually have a separate peace of information, rather the way say when you get a dvd the option exists to view trailers f
 or other dvds. Say have on the main menue a button playing audio trailers, or have a link to the developers own site where a person can find out about other games, indeed if the adverts occur as a matter of choice! and are an audio teaser or presentation of other games people will be far more willing to investigate on their own than if they are forced to. this is why for many years all pc games, (like most games), have a visit the developers website link in their program group. Of course this is something many Iphone games do already through the ap store, but offering small audio teasers for people to listen to or demonstrations of some aspect of the game is liable to get far more attention,  plus of course well write news about such teasers and demos here and add them to our ddatabase so people can try before buying. In general its a matter of thinking that instead of forcing! a person to sit through adverts, you are providing a tanta

Trolok, first of all, you need to uncover all the dials, not just the one at position 0. There are dials every hundred coordinates, accept for at 500. As for the number you need to enter, its on the piece of paper you picked up after the fight with the mud killer. I got the impression he was referring to what amounts to banner ads: things that make websites and apparently iPhone apps a bit of money even though most people just ignore them. These work just fine in a visual medium, but since Audio is so bloody serial, the advantages do not translate well into an audio-only format.(Hmm, maybe pointing this out could encourage developers to work harder on full-screen tactile feedback? Hahaha, na, probably wouldnt make a difference.  But if tactile games were a thing, theyd have a much easier time with ad revenue.)Honestly, I think the only real analog that would work in audio would be product placement, which is much more involved and hard to pull off, especially with a market as small as audio-only gamers. (Swamp could totally have done product placement.  Between the setting being relatively modern and there being quests that get even more specific, there were plenty of opportunities to name-drop corporate sponsors. There would even be server logs to figure out which product names people heard most often, since quests and missions are managed server-side.)If its advertising more directly-related things, though, Dark and Aarons suggestions work. Well Cae, I assumed by adds the poster was actually talking about information youd want to know rather than just mentioning something a bazillion times so that next time you go shopping you are theoretically more likely to buy it.Interestingly enough however, I did recently hear that with so many more people installing add blockers or just plane not paying attention to banner adds, as well as the use of various systems to avoid add breaks on tv advertisers are actually working on trying to actually engage! peoples interest! (a very novel idea for advertising execs). Btw, amusing story. On one occasion I by mistake walked into a large plastic black horse that had been stuck outside my universitys student union, in picking this up I was talked to by loyds bank, who were there trying to interest graduates in the exciting world of banking. A few years ago Loyds bank used to have absolutely awsome tv adverts featuring the adventures of a kni
 ght on a black horse which were usually quite humerous and rather clever. My personal favourite involved a giant walking tree telling the knight that to seak his fortune he should go to a cave where he would encounter the monster tundred, sever both its heads and free a maid who would bring him good fortune. The knight then went into the cave with his sword to encounter the monster, chop off both its heads and have the girl spring out from the back of the cave while saying the following dialogue happend: knight: oh! ay tundred! Monster: oh Knight: sever 1 Monster: oh Knight: sever 2 Monster: oh! Maid: free The maid then presented the knight with a loyds bank card and you were told (in still semi medaeval language), how good a bank loyds was, and to contact them on the phone number where upon the knights battle was repla
 yed. While I know it probably doesnt come over in text the fact that I actually remember this advert should let you know how amusing it was. Unfortunately however when I asked the guy outside the student union he said theyd stopped those sorts of adverts because they wanted a more coorporate image to appeal to young professionals. I then told him, (somewhat caustically), that as a post graduate academic I was about as young and professional as hed get, and I find the corporate image he wanted down right boring and would rather have humerous adventures with a knight! (heck, I dont even remember what loyds current advert is).He wasnt a fan of this, but then again I suppose he wouldnt be. After all this corporate image (usually tipified by some guy in a suit just standing there and jawing), really only appeals to other corporate advertising execs and thus not really to most of the rest of the world.Thats one r

it honestly goes back to how active you are. Signing in once a day and doing 2 crimes isnt going to get you very far. On the other hand, signing in 5 times a day, doing crimes until your nervebar goes out completely on each occasion, then going to the city dump and searching until your energys all gone will make quite a difference.Be aware though, that leveling is only part of the game, sometimes a part you dont want to take too seriously, as it allows for players to get more experience when attacking you. Well Kyle regarding low vision access it wouldnt surprise me if android has similar colour and magnification options to most systems that users of large print usually make use of,  heck I have the contrast set down on my Iphone as it is sincee even if i cant read the text it can help being able to see where it is to click it, much as I have handled menue selections in most graphical games Ive played, , (this is usefull in choiceof games).Good luck with contacting Storm8 though, since they utterly ignored the two males I sent them about making the settings and storm8 id creation on Ios accessible. Well Juliette Im not familiar enough with inform as a language, but perhaps asking around on the interactive fiction community forums over at http://www.intfiction.org/forum/ could help. You might also ask the author of Kerkerkruip (see the database for details), since he has designed several inform extentions to handle things like turn based combat and statistics, and though your obviously trying something different the techniques should probably help. Btw, why only two states ugly or pretty? that seems hardly a reasonable estimate of attraction to me. If I was creating attraction in a game Id probably have either A, a set variable for each person which changes according to your actions, items, preparations etc, or just have several variable stats such as physical attractivenesss, likability etc. Also, attraction would only seem to serve a purpose in first forming the family, unless your randomly invis
 aging the principle character committing bigamy of course :d.Again if youd prefer to look at the choiceof scripting Im pretty sure it could handle those sorts of things quite nicely. CAE, most of 6-1 is just alternating up and down, with one part where you have to go between two turbulances. 6-2 just has a few obstacles at the beginning that you have to go between, and some alternating ones at the end.As for telling which way to adjust your altitude, it probably is in the japanese, but its not necessary to listen to the japanese to get past. Just try moving one way, and if the alarmy doesnt cut off after a few seconds, turn around, adjust your altitude in the other direction and try again. Also I figured out that the warning about a turbulance or obstacle shows up 50 spacs before it is there. Thi also helps in missions where you have a bunch of turbulance things near each other because you can use q to check your coordinates. Also, I need help in 20-4. How do I damage the giant battleship after I run out of destroyer missiles? I only have 5, and my machine gun, normal missiles and jet missiles dont do anything against them. Its alos really hard to avoid cruise missiles. I figured out that constantly changing your altitude allow syou to fly past them, but doing this makes it really hard to aim offensively. Reflector missiles have a really slow firing speed too and the field is too small to give you a lot of maneuvering room to fire them.Also, I found a secret thingerAfter you beat stage 18 or 19, the stage 14 menu with the tent gives you a bunch more options. One of the people here talks aobut a secret in the school. In stage 1-1,
  theres the first door in that stage. If you grapple up to the top levl you will see a box. Now I know that the box exploded, quitting the game. Now though I went back up there, and opened the box. I gained a new eweapon. the box gun. It take soft point ammo. I havent tested it out yet, but it looks cool so I probably will. Check it out and tell me your thoughtsAlso anyone managed to make the omega shooter? Im still using the middle shooter and am slowly gathering mini shooters. Any tips for the 14-4 boss? I need to replenish missiles first... but I cant ever fire off a missile without having to dodge something, and it seems like I can never get anything to hit... missiles stay on the same trajectory even if you shift altitude right? Warning: Incredibly dark, and the authors biggest apparent weakness is an inability to go a page without dropping a cluster F-Bomb.So, the story behind this link is incredibly awesome.Id point out how quickly and consistently it updates, but its mostly complete at this point, barring a few more epilogue chapters.Id call it a reconstruction of the superhero genre. It starts out looking like its going to be horribly cliche and angsty, with a typical high school bullying victim turned superhero, then it explodes (literally, after a fashion).The characters are spectacularly done, in spite of how many there are. I never really felt overwhelmed by the population of named characters running around; the world is pretty well-developed and it all kinda seems natural. (Or at least, as natural as people who can stop time and set cities on fire can be.)And the so-calle
 d clever characters are actually clever, rather than just smart in name only. Its hard to give examples without spoilers, but the main characters power is to control bugs.
