Re: where can I get free mp3 downloads?

@Turtlepower, I agree, however because ghost rider was talking about looking for specific songs I posted the warning, however I do know of band camp, and indeed youd be surprised at some of the more illustrious people on there. Chris Huelsbek, creator of the soundtracks to the Turrican computer games, some of the best soundtracks ever made in the late 80s, has a page on band camp, indeed his most recent effort which is a fully remasted and rerecorded set of the music from all the turrican games can be found there (though I got that one after I supported the project on kickstarter). If your interested in computer game music, and indeed weerd bits of very epic electronica I can also recommend http://www.turricanforever.de/soundbase this is part of the turrican fan community, but because Turricans soundtracks are so epic its almost got its own subgenre of music, i
ndeed some of the music for pc fan Turrican remake games has been awsome, and since the soundbase page includes a lot of stuff that is Turrican enspired or turrican style rather than literal remixes its very much more wide ranging than the stuff on say overclocked remixes.I can also recommend www.songplanet.com which has everything in genre from blues and country to rock, techno, electronica and psudo film score all by freelance musicians, indeed a good friend of mine has both a lot of music up there are at one time worked as one of the site radio stations djs.@Guitarman, weerdly enough using goldwave sounds rather more complex than standard windows media player. Ive used the options under tools and rip settings so that each cd is automatically ripped in best bit rate and dropped in my downloads folder this means literally all I need to do to rip
a cd is bang it in the computer and select from the rip with windows mediaplayer from the standard dialogue .This is helpful since my singing teacher keeps giving me singing lessons recorded on cd so I have to rip something each week. The only time it fails is when windows mediaplayer decides to tag something with the wrong names, that can be a pest, but fortunately it doesnt seem to happen too often with commercial cds.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=165348#p165348

Hi all. Ive just been looking right back at my very first posts, and found a topic that I posted in about food. Rather than going right back and posting again on that topic, I decided to create a new one. So, what are all your favourite foods?Mine have changed a little since that post so long ago.I still like chocolate, but I cant touch that horrid sweet crap thats full of sugar that most companies nowadays call chocolate. It has to contain at least 70% real coco for me to eat it.I also love indian dishes, pizza and seafood.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=165352#p165352

Re: Favorite Foods.

Great, another coco adict. Im afraid coffee and chocolate are the two things I take rather seriously, indeed last christmas my mum bought me a brief subscription to chocolate hotel under the purist coco range. I also stick to %70 or higher, though I have prefered brands. lint I find far too rough in texture and it is that that usually causes people to complain of things being too bitter who are not used to dark chocolate, however green n black is good, and liddle and aldi supermarkets both do fairly good over %70 stuff, there is a liddle %85 equidorian with chilly that I am rather fond of. I admit that while I never buy standard chocolate anymore, I still will get decent quality cakes etc even if the chocolaate theyre made with is bad, for example in a moment Ill take reever for a walk around the corner and stop at my favourite sandwich place who do the most wonderful mars bar crispy cake. mars bars I
cant stand, but the cake is nice. Coffee is also something I take seriously, though there is a hole other thread about that so I wont repeat myself. Generally I enjoy lots of different foods dpened more on how theyre made, for example while I like pizza badly made pizza can be horrible, indeed I tried out a new pizza place the other day and was severely disappointed. But generally anything made well, in reasonable style, heck I will eat pretty much any style from Italian to mexican to indian, to chinese (both the standard sort and more authentic), ramen, pub grill, sooshi to tradditional english roast. My personal only major stipulation is that I much prefer things when theyre cooked ie hot as opposed to raw. this makes me a rather odd person in restaurants since I really enjoyed cooked vedgies as a side including all the things people usually dislike like brockalee, cabbag
e or brussle sprouts, but really am not a fan of salad or colslaw, the textures of some foods also are likely to make me sick, eg, tomatoes and a lot of soft fruite (though I love smoothies). A semi regular event I also do occasionally is inviting a couple of friends of mine around who cook things and try them out on me, indeed one of my friends works as a publicity officer for a company who make gourmet herbal extracts, and between him and another friend of mine who used to be an apprentice chef they have done some fantastic things, albeity they always leve me with massive piles of washing up and a kitching looking like a bomb hit it! .The stuff theyve done has been interesting though, from chilly made with lime and %100 dark chocolate, as well as some of my friends extractto the odd bbq when things work out. T
he last thing my friend did was a beef wellington which was great. I always sort of wish I had the excuse to try more cooking than I do, but when i live on my own and am just cooking for myself it never really seems worth the time and effort, though I be believe if I ever actually lived with someone Id want to do more. I also regularly meet up with my brother to go out for meels, usually we tend to go somewhere like tgi fridays or franky and bennies, which is good, I also have a very nice small pub just around the corner from me that does a lot of individual home cooked stuff though i dont tend to go there as much on my own.Right! now Im off to that sandwich shop I mentioned for a toasty and some cake since this conversation has made me hungry! .URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=165356#p165356

Re: Favorite Foods.

@Conner, the chocolate with chilly isnt particularly hot, even my mum who very much doesnt go for anything with hot peppers is a fan, though if your just used to sweet chocolate loaded with sugar you probably wouldnt like it just for the bitterness alone.Interesting tom about vedgitables. I love the actual tastes of fruits, and regularly drink smoothies or coolies with a desert, however there is just something in the texture that reacts badly, I am fairly certain this occurred when I was 18 months old, and had a severe lactose intollerance where nearly everything I ate made me extremely sick, since its not merely a dislike but almost a reflexive response. One thing Ive noticed about spice is that what is defined as spicy tends to depend upon the region you come from. Here in the north east of England cities like manchester and leeds have very large Indian commun
ities, meaning that the idea of what is a hot curry is pretty explosive, similar standards are also used in chinese, mexican and the like as well, however when I went to visit a friend of mine in london and had what the place described as a spicy burger I found it not to be anything more than mild, my brother had a similar when he visited miniapolis. Ive also herd this extends to other countries, as well, for example an indonesian chap I knew complained that british food needed more raw green chillies! while a friend of mine who visited mexico said that even their default sauce on breakfast rolls absolutely took her head off. I suppose it is just a matter of what you are used to, but it does make judging descriptions of dishes rather difficult if your not in somewhere you know.I do tend to like things with kick myself,, but there is a point it could be too much, indeed there was a very authentic c
hinese I used to go to who had a chilly sauce which was literally painful.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=165365#p165365

[Audiogames-reflector] Meanings of your usernames?

2014-02-13 Thread AudioGames.net Forum — Off-topic room: Dark

Meanings of your usernames?

What does your board username actually mean and where does it come from? I saw a topic like this on another board I attended and thought it was a fun idea, particularly because there are some usernames on this board Ive rather wondered about. eg, arqmeister, sounds like a master craftsman who makes flood proof boats, and staindadict, which until I read the spelling I always thought was stained adict, which sounds sort of like a really severe druggy. Obviously some handles are obvious where people like Lauren have used their actual names, or other occasions, or where people have a title such as epic gamer, however not all of them are so itd be nice to find out. Ill go first. Dark was a character in what was originally planned to be a novel I was writing about 14 years ago when i was 16. He was an assassin in a post appocalyptic world who the government employed to kill anyone who was making techn
ological advances. He was small, sarcastic, very good with knives and rather jaded, but a fun character (and incidently quite a lot unlike myself). Dark also wasnt his actual name, only his codename, his real name was tullen. When I started writing fan fiction that a friend of mine put up on her website (this was before I got on the net personally), I had the idea that using your real name online was a bad thing, so I pulled the name of the character, dark, which also bore a ironic relation to my actual first name, Luke, which (apart from also being short and ending in a K sound), means light. These days Ive been called dark for so long I considder it as much my name as my actual name, even if Ive given up on the idea of the story about the snarky assassin, . If dark is taken in online games or if it
is not possible to write a four character name, I tend to use dark empathy, which usually isnt since empathy is my favourite human characteristic. On the iphone however, dark empathy had gone as a game center name already, so I used dark tenor, since I sing and am a tenor called dark .I also do not personally like the internet business of name plus number, so I reffuse to be dark 42 or dark empathy 1982 or the like since that just feels like being one of a matched set. Well, there is the explanation of my handle, so what about other peoples?URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=165366#p165366

2014-02-13 Thread AudioGames.net Forum — Off-topic room: Dark

Re: Audio anime; should we try?

Not to do your idea down heramin, but just as a correction, what you have actually said audio anime makes no sense. It is a popular missconception that anime refers to anything with giant robots, ninjas, tentacle demons, airships, super powered school girls and general craziness. In truth however anime just is the Japanese term for animation, in japan nearly %50 of all programs are animated and range in genre and style from soap operas to kids tv, to ultra horror to cop shows. When however a company called manga entertainment began translating anime for the western market, they focused basically on shonan stuff, ie, programs with all the above. The reason I correct you on this is my brother is a huge fan of anime, but that does not mean dragonball, Naruto bleach, inuyasha etc. His own preferences tend to be more for good series in various genres and settings, just o
ver last year I saw series including kids on the slope a sport drama about skeeing, shiki, a character drama with horror elements such as vampires but more focused on the people (and one which gets really horrific), welcome to the Nhk, a psychological drama about a man who is agora phobic, and high school of the dead, a purely good fun zombi survival horror story. Yes, we do sometimes watch series like guran lagan, the best giant robot show ever! and Megumi, the most twisted take on the magical girl genre Ive ever seen, however that certainly describe doesnt mean the entirety of anime and it does sort of irritate me a little when people use the term imprecisely, it would be like using the term cinema to mean anything with lots of action and people shooting each other and forget there is any other type of film out there. If however you mean simply creating audio dramas with shonan elements, ie, giant robo
ts, ninjas, samurai, magic sword swords, demons, school kids with crazy powers etc, then go ahead, I would just suggest you not describe them as audio anime maybe audio shonan or something like would be closer.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=165371#p165371

Re: Audio anime; should we try?

Well Haramir, I wont change the topic title, since my opinion of the definition of the term anime is nothing to do with moderation. To be honest if what your actually talking about is simply creating audio dramas, in whatever genre, Id just use the term audio drama and leave it at that, particularly if your not actually planning to use any of the elements that people (however incorrectly), associate with anime such as giant robots, ninjas etc, meaning your work has no intrinsic connection to what most people refer to as anime which should more properly be called shonan. If you want to genre classify your work, well just considder its elements and give it a more standard classification that is less of a loaded term and more accurately conveys what your doing, eg eastern fantasy, cyberpunk, high school super hero mech war, etc, and if none of those fit, well make up your own classification.
Yesterday I was recommended book series described as super hero zombocalypse, and remebmer the term Steam punk came from a bunch of writers in the 1980s, who described the weerd victorian style fantasy they wrote as a departure from the more common ultra modern cyber punk of the time.So dont worry about a classification, particularly one as loaded and missconcieved as anime and just describe your work as what it is, even if you need to make up a term. for some practical advice however, if all your talking about is writing audio dramas, wel there are several sites who produce audio dramas such as darker projects who regularly will produce stories by guest writers, that would also be a good way to find actors, designers etc, by going to a regular community of people who do that type of thing if you wanted to do your own project later on. I have actually been considdering wri
ting something for darker projects myself. You could also check the forums of various popular audio drama series such as were alive or leviathan, or varient frequencies, since again that is the place to find experienced actors and sound designers, though since Darker projects has an open call for writers that might be a good place to start even if you dont want to write for them on a more regular basis, its a foot in the door and a way to begin. Re: Audio anime; should we try?

Thanks Dark. Well, what Im trying to do is more like a serie. Some episodies that in the end would build up an entire story. And Id like to add some aspects of the japanese culture on it. Again, a reason for me to choose this title for the topic. If I use audio drama things would surely be taken into an ocidental point of view.I agree thats a kind of discrimination of me part when I tryed to generalize all my thoughts into an unique word. Not sure that this Darker Project is taking titles such as this though.A bit offtopic in the offtopic category, but is there a way for me to change a topics subject?I may check the sites you told me, but Id like to leave a topic here anyway.Best regards, Haramir.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.p

Hayri, SLJ is correct. The testing client has only been given out to certain people who are serving as beta testers. Im not sure who gave you that download link, but as youve noticed, it is not the testing client my beta testers are currently using. I worry that posting that address is going to cause many people to download it, hoping to get their hands on the next version early. This is potentially going to cause problems, and I would appreciate it if you edited your earlier post and removed the link. By my count (at 11:20am), I already have 12 people trying to use that download link client to get into the testing server.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=165382#p165382

Well, mine has a bit of backstory. I went to Tennessee School for the Blind, and I was one of the guys who figured out how to install games on the cottage computers. I passed this on to Gamedude, who also plays games and went to school with me (Gamedude, I dont remember if you figured it out before me or after, so I will distribute the credit equally). In my cottage, I was the king of games, and I think I came on to the forums at 2:22 PM ONE DAY. So, theres my name.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=165384#p165384

Re: Audio anime; should we try?

Yes, if you edit your first post you can change the topic subject along with the post. Regarding darker projects wel they do actually make point that they are interested in producing new audio series, and even if not you well might find actors, directors, sound designers and other personel on their forums who would be interested.I have heard the Avatar last airbender series called Eastern fantasy, which seems appropriate given that the world is inspired very much by aspects of both japanese and chinese culture as well as easternbuddhism, daoism and other beliefs, so that term would seem appropriate, particularly since in its inaccurate use people use the term anime to exclusively mean overly crazy stuff eg giant robots, tentacle monsters, ninja demon android girls from outerspace and other such randomness, (another reason I prefer th
e term to be used properly), so if your thinking of a serious story your probably best avoiding the term anime for that reason as well.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=165385#p165385

Oops, looks like audiogames.net replies were going to my spam! Anyway, yes, Rickard, we should definitely stay in touch!Balooba wrote:Btw, great last sentence! /RickardHaha, thanks! You seem to be a person of many talents, so Id definitely not want to pigeonhole you. Balooba wrote:And Im glad that you got inspired for further reading too! I cant take credit for other peoples work, but since I came across all of these great and inspiring resources, I really wanted to compile my favourites so that others might discover them too. /RickardI know what you mean, but I have to say that even though you quote other peoples work, you put all these insights together and made your own
conclusions, so I think you can take some credit, haha. Plus, youve kept the inspiration dominoes going. I know the paper was written for you Bachelors, but its great that you continued to share your findings. This is a tangent, but Ive met people who are discouraged from writing or creating because they want to create something original, but theyre afraid its already been said or done. Worse yet, Ive met people who refuse to recognize their own influences or study others in their field just so they can feel as if theyve created something on their own. This stops the flow of inspiration when all these people need to do is dig a little deeper to say what they really want to say. Some of the most original and creative people I can think of recognize their influences and know when those influences show in their work (Brendon Small and Simon Pegg are two good examples). To tie this back into the conversation, what you
did isnt easy. Balancing what has been said along with saying something new and finding both factual and subjective information is something I see as a gift. Being able to communicate these perspectives so clearly is a very powerful ability, too. Kind of a stepping stone to peace and harmony and all that, haha.Hey, and Im not sure what you think of social media, but you should get on Twitter or whatever else is popular these days so you can share your thoughts on a regular basis. Unless, maybe you have a website? Im just curious as to what they actually mean and how they relate to each other and the three dragon statues. Re: Audio adaptation for manga

I would still not call it an audio manga... manga is a word which is used to describe Japanese comic books. when I first read the title I thought you meant adapting manga in audio. I dont see anything wrong with calling it simply an audio drama... since that term doesnt have any specific statements as to what the theme has to be like. An audio drama with martial arts or other oriental material is still an audio drama. lolURL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=165421#p165421

Re: Audio adaptation for manga

Also Dark... shonen actually is a demographic, not a classification. Just something to be aware of. shonen actually means youth... which is what the target audience for a specific manga / anime would be where as Shojo would be anime targetted towards young girls. So audio shonen wouldnt actually make sense as a genre... since the word itself isnt a genre. But I agree with you in that anime is not all the time about giants, robots or ninja... though an anime with ninja or samurai doesnt necessarily mean that its has a shonen demographic target. Just some information to remember while using words as those... I wasnt trying to criticize. Also, shonen is spelled with an e, not an A.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=165423#p165423

Theres not an easy way that I know of. The easiest way Ive found to get actual text is to use something called TextHooker. Yeah I know I know, lol. Ive never really gotten it to work, but in theory it can grab text from just about any game and allow you to paste it somewhere, in this case, a translation service.https://sites.google.com/site/agthook/Apparently there are other programs you can use side by side with that to translate easily, but youll have to find those on your own.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=165432#p165432

Guide for Playing Japanese Audiogames

Japanese Games Setup Guide:By Bladestorm360---IntroductionThis guide will cover, in detail, how to play japanese audio games without knowing a single bit of the language. It is my hope that after reading it, you will be able to pick up any untranslated japanese game and play it with no trouble. Japanese audio games are easily some of the best around, far above what weve got available in the english market, and I hate to see people missing out on playing these masterpieces. There are several utilities out there that make playing these games very possible without knowing the language at all, and this guide will show you what they are, and how to get and use them.Note that this translation method is not perfect. Because japanese grammar structure is so much different than english grammar, words are often scrambled and ocasionally mistranslated. I can tell you from experience though, that it is very possible to understand the storyline, puzzles and mechanics of these games with a great degree of accuracy. I have beaten every game created by these 3 developers, and have understood the storyline of them all. Try not to be put off by the scrambled nature of the wording, it takes some practice but it can definitely be unscrambled into something that makes sense.Things youll need:NVDA: http://www.nvda-project.orgInstantTranslate NVDA AddOn: http://addons.nvda-project.org/addons/i … te.en.htmlOther Useful Utilities:ProTalker English NVDA AddOn: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/106 … a-addon?dlApLocale: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download … x?id=13209ClipBoard2Sapi: http://doratomo.ddo.jp/yokotakazunori/hrt/cp2sapi.htmTranslated Clipboard: http://translate.google.com/translate?s … p2sapi.htmCoolSoft Virtual Midi Synth: http://coolsoft.altervista.org/en/virtualmidisynthText Game Patch: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/322 … -patch.zipGames:NyanChan: http://www.nyanchangames.com/Translated NyanChan: http://translate.google.com/translate?h … mes.com%2FMM: http://www.mm-galabo.com/Translated MM: http://translate.google.com/translate?s … abo.com%2FMorokuma: http://mh0406.so.land.to/Translated Morokuma: http://translate.google.com/translate?h … ;sandbox=1Some websites are better browsed using NVDA and InstantTranslate, by selecting text and translating them line by line. So you can either use instant translate, or browse to the download page with google translate, copy the link to the japanese website from there and find the link on the actual page that way.Setup:This will get you up and running with all of the japanese games. Some steps are fairly complex, so please only do what youre comfortable with. If something seems overcomplicated or you just dont want to mess with it, you shouldnt have to. Only the first 3 steps are necessary to play everything but the text games, all other steps are completely optional.1. Install NVDA. This is very useful for games like Bokurano Daiboukenn 3, and Shadow Line Full Voice, that start out attempting to auto-detect your screen reader. If this happens, text will not be automatically copied to the clipboard, and this can help you get to the game options so that you can set it to use the clipboard instead of a screen reader. This could also be used to play japanese games that only use a screen reader and have no clipboard output function, though I know of no such games at this time.If you wish to play Morokumas text RPGs, youll need to take the steps below:5. This is the same tie up that people have with mainstream console games... since theres no way to translate Japanese to English efficiently which is why many people dont play imports. Though ironically, this makes imports ideal for blind gamers since menu translations exist all over the web. Noone has any clues as to what the puzzle itself means Im guessing? Past that part now in the game, now just more curious than anything else...URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=165440#p165440

Re: Meanings of your usernames?

mine has a weird backstory. When I was 7-8, my dad used to kill me for joining all sorts of distribution lists. So I started with the name of harrylist. When I signed up, the I sorta disappeared somehow, and now Im harrylst. This is the only place where Im harrylst, most everywhere else Im techluver or eatconomics. Techluver came about because on Skype when I signed up techlover (tech lover) was taken and so the O was changed to a U, Skype suggested it to me. Eatconomics is quite recent. I love to eat and Im an economics major... what can I say?Dark, you should write the novelURL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=165441#p165441

Cant wait to see what youve got. Im a huge fan of any Asian media whether it be anime or martial arts flicks... and part of that comes from my family, while part of it comes from just a love of the cultures, especially Japanese. If I can help in any way, feel free to let me know... I also speak Japanese.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=165442#p165442

[Audiogames-reflector] Guide for Playing Japanese Audiogames

Try not to be put off by the scrambled nature of the wording, it takes some practice but it can definitely be unscrambled into something that makes sense.Things youll need:NVDA: http://www.nvda-project.orgInstantTranslate NVDA AddOn: http://addons.nvda-project.org/addons/i … te.en.htmlOther Useful Utilities:ProTalker English NVDA AddOn: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/106 … a-addon?dlApLocale: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download … x?id=13209ClipBoard2Sapi: http://doratomo.ddo.jp/yokotakazunori/hrt/cp2sapi.htmTranslated Clipboard: http://translate.google.com/translate?s … p2sapi.htmClipCopy: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/322 … 20Copy.zipClipReader: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/322 … reader.rarSayTools: http://empowermentzone.com/SayTools.htmCoolSoft Virtual Midi Synth: http://coolsoft.altervista.org/en/virtualmidisynthText Game Patch: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/322 … -patch.zipGames:NyanChan: http://www.nyanchangames.com/Translated NyanChan: http://translate.google.com/translate?h … mes.com%2FMM: http://www.mm-galabo.com/Translated MM: http://translate.google.com/translate?s … abo.com%2FMorokuma: http://mh0406.so.land.to/Translated Morokuma: http://translate.google.com/translate?h … ;sandbox=1Some websites are better browsed using NVDA and InstantTranslate, by selecting text and translating them line by line. However, most of them can be browsed just using google translate. NyanChan will not allow you to download through google translate, however. If youve never used it before, you may wish to read a bit of documentation or experiment to get a feel for the screen reader.2. Install the InstantTranslate AddOn package. If you have NVDA running, you can simply navigate to the directory you saved these in and press enter on it.3. Download the Textgame patch. This was initially only for the text games, but it helps with the regular games as well. This prevents you from having to install the japanese keyboard and IME, unless you want to.Once downloaded, unzip the patch somewhere, and then copy the hook.dll and Launch files into the folder of the game you want to play. Now make sure that the games executable is renamed to play. For many of the games, this is already the case. But if not, youll need to rename it for launch to work properly. Once done, run launch and the game will start. You should now have everything installed that you need to play games such as Bokurano Daiboukenn and Brave of Cloudia. However, there is one optional step that may help you out:4. Download and install ClipCopy. To do this, youll need to go to start menu, NVDA, explore user configuration directory. Then just paste the ClipCopy python file into your Global Plugins folder. You can now press f12 to copy the last spoken NVDA message to the clipboard. This could also be used to play japanese games that only use a screen reader and have no clipboard output function, though I know of no

Re: Guide for playing japanese audiogames

Perhaps the latest update will help you out. Thanks to Tyler Spivey, installing keyboards and such is not necessary anymore, the Textgame patch can be used for all japanese games and saves you from having to install and mess with keyboards. Step 3 in the guide has been changed to reflect this. If you still need help after trying that, I can probably help you out on skype.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=165444#p165444
