I would say get the regular version if it doesnt matter all that much to you how complicated the mechanics are. I personally like razors edge, but as you said... its harder to beat the spider. Well, I cant even beat the spiter in the regular version, so I wont get the full version, because I would just end up being stuck while fighting the spiter again. Its cool that some people find this fight accessible, but the sounds are just one huge mess for me, and I cant figure out when I have to attack or dodge, so I always end up getting killed. I think the reason you cant get contracts from the palace or military base anymore is that you are probably flagged as a criminal in the factions books. You should be able to pay for a pardon if this is the case. Otherwise, Im not sure why you would be having this particular issue. Hi.thats something I wish I could tell others, how I navigate in big complex games without any trouble. I dont know how to describe it, which annoys me a bit. I also make a map of the area in my head, like when navigating around in the real world. Of course places can be so complex so I get lost, but thats how I do it. Im born blind, so my only conclution on that is, that some people are just good at it and others arent.In Shades of doom and Sarah, there are lots of sounds you can use to hear if yu have been in the room before. You can also press V to check if youve been there before.In games, I often use side step and keeps the direction so I dont have to turn around to navigate the corridors. I dont know why, but that works better for me. If I know a room is to the right, then I just side step instead rotating the character, which would be like rotating the map in my head. I can do both though, but I just find si

Yeah. And well know for sure that the world will soon come to an end when Greedom Science Fiction makes an offer this reasonable. Yeah you do have to pay to use DecTalk or Eloquence with this free copy of WE, but to be fair neither one is very expensive. If/when I get a new computer I may make the switch to the Office version of WE, even though Ive been a retail user for about seven years now. True you dont get free tec support but its just another mark of what a good product Window-Eyes is overall that you should rarely need it anyway. And when you do theyre great. Then of course theres also the option of using the GW-info mailing list where you can get help with problems you might be having. Just figure out that part in the demo. You can do it. The games beatable and you can even get some DLC weapons for the original. Razors edge is haaard. Ive made it to day 4. My problem with the game is that everyone and their mothers seem to have something that they can shoot at you that explodes. You cant get your sword swinging in parts for the projectile spam. Apart from that... Its a good game. Anyhow. Ive finally managed to pick up a PS3... hells yeah. So I have ninja gaiden sigma two on its way out. Well with the nvda curser in choose your own cave, Im guessing the reason it reads some stuff autmaotically but not reliably is because itsreading the entire console window, but after the there is a certain amount of text on the bottom of the screen the formatting goes. Supernova has a similar issue with auto text which is why I tend to rely on the virtual curser instead. With kerkerkruip however I suspect the problem your having is with the interpreter. One reason I really like winglulx as an interpreter is that you can remove all the guff from the screen including status line, which is Im guessing just what is being read by NVda. its easy enough to get your status in game by typing the command just like in a conventional if or mud game, and having it displayed on screen just proves a pest, or at least that is what Ive always found.Plus of course, winglulx does have an au
 tomatic read with sapi option by default as well. As regards how to play kerkerkruip, well that is a different question entirely, but if you begin on the newbie mode you shouldnt have too many problems so long as you try to defeat monsters in the right ordr so that you dont find yourself stuck with an extra tough battle with no powers. I think the problem isnt the sounds. Its the fact that the spider is constantly moving... and theres no way to figure out when its legs are vulnerable. If someone can record a fight of them beating the spider in razors edge Ill be impressed. DD, vertical aiming was actually planned during the earliest days of Swamp, but I removed it fearing that a second axis on the mouse would just be too much for most players to handle. After all, I was still fighting a pretty fierce uphill battle just to get people to try using a mouse, so I was keeping aiming as simple as possible (with just the single axis).I have been super busy so far this week, so very little progress has been made on the next Swamp update. I installed JAWS 14 and at the FSOmniPage step, it took more than 30 minutes to complete the download, but it did finish. The entire installation was actually a Repair installation and it took more than an hour to complete. I went to the FS site and manually downloaded FSOmniPage, it was about 84 MB, and the download proceeded very slowly. It appears that the FS site has a very slow download connection. Hi all,Ive been playing the steam version of this game for a while. It is, unfortunately, not a hundred percent accessible, but its certainly playable.You control a rogue bike with an artificial intelligence, that wants to escape from its creators. It has basically been fried, so while its not evil, its certainly not quite a hero.There are quite a few cut scenes, and this game is very cinematic in nature. Its basically a rail shooter. The vehicle moves along a set path and its basically up to you to destroy whatever comes into your path, using everything from melee attacks to, eventually, a plasma gun.The sound is in stereo and is quite good. You can center the cars and things before shooting, and turbo if you need to to close the gap, although sometimes this has done more harm than good when Ive played.Im playing the pc version with a logitech f710 gamepad, in x in put mode which is basically the xbox 360 layout.This game is available for both the xbox 360 and xbox one, and of course, on steam on the pc.Gamepad controls:left analog: movea: turbo (first thing that you get introduced to in tutorial)x: melee (when this comes up in tutorial, it forces you to press to dismiss it)Y: throw (again, forces you to dismiss)Right trigger: same as ALeft trigger: shoots (again, forces you to do this in tutorial)Melee:Youll basically get to punch the enemy,and you hear a sort of rising metal sound, this is a combo meter. There is also a synthesizer kind of sound, which will reach a peek and stop, then you quickly press a to counter.Shooting is basically just center the enemy and fire, but you can also try to melee them, which wont do too much damage and obviously could cause you a lot in the process.There are QTE sequences where you ahve to circle the analog stick, these are sort of guess work and if you lose these you take damage.I very nearly beat the first boss, but even when I failed I still unlocked the next chapter.The game costs around £6, and the pc version is 15 gb in size.When you launch the game NVDA will say launcher app, use object navigation and choose either the 32 or 64 button depending on what type of OS you are using. I have a windows98 virtual machine with jaws6 installed. and I have virtual machine tools for vmware also installed. but with windows98 it is not letting me copy and paste files between windows7 64bit and the windows98 virtual machine. I tried opening a dropbox link in internet explorer to download files, no luck. and I also tried sendspace no luck there either. so is there a way I can mount a .vmdk file outside of the vm so I can add files and folders? I tried winmount, no luck, daemon tools lite, no luck there either. any ideas? winmount was not accessible with either nvda or window-eyes. Dear all:My name is Jesus Vilares, and Im associate professor in the Computer Science Department of the University of A Coruña (Spain). Some time ago one of my colleagues and I offered our final year students, as their Final Year Project, to develop a roguelike videogame adapted for visually impaired people (not necessarily blind). Now, we are looking for people to be our beta-testers. First I will briefly describe this kind of games, roguelikes, just in case you do not know them. Anyway, if you want more details you can turn to Wikipedia.Although the setting may vary, classic roguelikes are dungeon crawling role-playing videogames usually developed by amateurs. In these games the player is an adventurer (warrior ,archer ,magician, etc.) who explores a dungeon looking for hidden treasures and monsters to fight. The game is played in turns, in the sense that every action you make (either move, attack, cast a spell, etc.) roughly takes one turn. According to its fans (my colleague is one of them) the best roguelikes are very complete games, which have nothing to envy to commercial videogames of a similar theme.Its main peculiarity is that the most orthodox roguelikes do not have graphics in the usual senses, but they are played in text mode. I mean by that that they are played on a text MSDOS-like terminal, where the dungeon and what it contains (monsters, treasures, etc.) is drawn from above, as a 2-dimension display using ASCII characters. Each character represents a different element: a stone wall, a water surface, a weapon, a goblin, the player himself, etc. If you want to represent, for example, a room with a door and a dragon in the center, what you would see on the screen is this: a rectangle formed by characters | and - representing the walls of the room, characters + that appear on the walls representing doors and, at the center of the room, a D representing a dragon. My colleague has met blind players of text adventures (he is a big fan of them, too) and some of them have also played roguelikes using a braille terminal. However we believe that playing roguelikes this way is very complicated and, moreover, not everyone has a braille terminal available.Our idea consists on the following. Apart from displaying the dungeon on the screen in the usual ASCII-based way (either for seeing people or those who use a screen magnifier), at the same time we will show a text description of the dungeon (for those who need a screenreader). For this first program the descriptions are quite simple, but the second project will be more ambitious. Hi pitbull,You actually dont have to copy the files, since the .bat file does it automatically. You only need to copy the files first if you are registering them manually. Anyways, when you have opened the Windows64bit.bat file and it asks you if you want to overwrite the files, press the first letter of the words yes or no followed by enter.To manually register the files - if you should have issues with the other method - you have to open the command prompt as Administrator not the run box. Make sure youre really running it as Administrator, since only being logged in as one is not enough. I figure there are a lot of blind musicians who frequent these forums, so this is a good place to ask. Ive had a Yamaha Motif XS-8 for years, and while I love the feel, the voices, and everything I can do with it, Im keenly aware that Im using about 5% of its power. That thought depresses me...but it got me thinking about the accessibility (or lack thereof) of synth workstations like Yamahas Motif line, or the new MOX series.So I guess Im interested to hear from others about what you think the most user-friendly workstation for blind musicians is. Obviously theres no fully accessible workstation... But just like the way that little features can make mainstream games more or less accessible, I imagine there are little features that might make some workstations much more user friendly. Im just posting out of curiosity. Let me know your thoughts - any experiences youve had with a particular model would be great. Thanks!URL

Raw PureBasic console stuff. Actually, I didnt use any libraries, since all this does is generate a number and let you guess it infinite times, and I didnt really think about it anyways (I was in math class when I did it). I compiled it in two versions, a windows executable and a console application. GTN.exe is the regular executable and gtn_c.exe is the console one. Hi all. I recently baught audio invaders for my i-pad mini, and for those of you that dont know, it is an audio space invaders game. So, i open it up and it does nothing. I tap on the screen, and i turn on oice over. I cant move arround untill, i am back to the home screen! Ive tryed restarting my i-pad, but that didnt work. I also tryed to reinstall it, and that didnt work either. It is supposed to load some sort of thing, i dont know what, but it does that every time. Can someone help me with this? Pitbull, Im not sure what the user account part was about so you may have to explain. When Blasting GD said to run the command prompt as administrator, it is not referring to your windows user account. When you open the command prompt it has 2 ways to launch it. One is just called Run, and the other mode is called Run as administrator. Hi there,Ive just been hanging out with a few friends who are also on this forum and we were discussing mainstream games, developer reactions to suggestions etc. Notably we were discussing things like skull girls gaining full screen reader support and it getting covered by at least 5 mainstream game news sites, where the game was advertised as the first fully accessible mainstream fighting game. There were also other big releases just in the audio games scene like BK 3 or, more recently, the fully voiced shadow line which also received some more features making the gameplay easier. All of these things have not been covered on the front page however. I wouldnt mind this so much if not for the fact there were other news posts in the time, and those releases, which were often much bigger and more important got completely ignored. So what Ive noticed is that if something isnt an audio game from an established developer, an iOS release, or yet 
 another web browser RPG or game book it usually doesnt get a news post. I understand that not everyone has the same interests, but could the moderators please try to cover some of these things? I dont know about you, but I think the first mainstream game ever getting screen reader support,making it fully playable, is a bit important, especially if its the first time ever. There is a couple of things you need to realize to be succesful with this range of keyboards:- The menus do not wrap. This is important, because it allows you to memorize where options are.- A lot of major functions are mapped to the f and sf-keys below the display. This is also good, because tutorials on the net often reference these buttons. Know where they are, and you can follow along.- There are accessible tools to edit voices, mixes, masters, waveforms etc , made by a greek guy called John Melas. Google it, you will find it.- Over at bryansmart.com, theres a zipfile containing a lot of information compiled by the members of the still existing moaccess mailing list, hosted on freelists. This will give you layouts of a number of important screens of the Motif accessible to the blind.Im not saying learning the Motif is easy. But heck ...

Usually I just decided it sounded cool and so I started using it as a user name. In this case, blade and storm just seemed to go well together, and I went through a trend where all my friends were using names and numbers so I decided to as well. These days I tend to avoid the numbers thing wherever possible because I prefer to be a little more unique and not just follow what everyone else is doing, but instead of just changing to bladestorm, the name
  just doesnt seem complete without the 360 anymore so I still use it. The number also doesnt have any major significance other than that it can signify a full circle around you or a complete turn, so bladestorm360 could mean a 360 degree storm of blades. To be honest, i wish we still had the feel of windows xp in a modern version of windows. Im pretty tech savi, but i can see how old school versions of windows had it right a lot of the time. With xp on its way out, i find myself feeling frustrated that i dont have a choice of interface, or running modern windows on very little computer, or as much computer as i want. My point is, i think it would be pretty cool to have a xp feeling system that could run on something like a netbook or chromebook. I would also like to turn around and run that same windows on a powerful gaming machine, with no detectable difference in load times or performence. Im frustrated because i really dont have a choice on my windows experience. Microsoft practically threatens everyone who just wants to stick with xp, or hell, some people still really like windows 98 for musical production. Im starting to understand the worlds frustrations with microsoft, and i can
 9;t blame them. Take choice away from the computer user, and the computer user gets fed up pretty quickly. If linux was 100 percent stable, and didnt have broken accessibility in certain areas, i would have all my machines on the platform. Im not sure how its done with Windows Media Player, but there are lots of free and accessible cd burning programs available. Ive tried several of them, and I think Ive settled on one called Burnaware. It writes cds super fast, and doesnt seem to come up with near as many errors or put big gaps between songs the way some other programs Ive used previously have.At Dark, I never heard of song planet, but thank you very much for the recommendation. Find a door that leads to the other side, lol. If you havent found the way, you havent explored the whole dungeon yet.One thing everyone should keep in mind with this game is screens have multiple entrances and exits in several areas. Sometimes you can get on to the same screen, 3 different ways. You just have to find those ways. Personally, I dont think vertical aiming would work out very well. If you introduce the concept of height, it would make sense to do so across the board, including heights for roofs, lights, and everything else. Certainly, things could be more interesting (think of fires or canines able to hide behind chairs or other obstacles you usually shoot through). However, representing you vertical aim point should be difficult at best. The horizontal one uses stereo, but the vertical would have to use something else entirely, such as pitch or some kind of constant sound to indicate your level, a sound that changes when you are level with whatever youre aiming for. But then youd just have to move up or down until you hear the sound, and thats it, which seems too much like having a sound play when you can fire, which Swamp has never done and should never do. The problem with pitch for all sounds themselves is that it seems like it would be much harder to aim cor
 rectly. Most of us can hear when a sound is centered, but how to you hear when a sound is pitched just right? Id like to see this done, but I cant think of any good way of doing it. Still, apron, if you can, Id try it.
