Oh yes those good times that I wish I could turn back the clock and could go back to them! I did that once with my BNS, and no, I'm not kidding. People often thought I had a robot mouse inside my unit when I first started it up. I got lots of laughs in my classroom. Fortunately though I didn't get in trouble as my teachers also started laughing, and just for fun, I spent one whole day with pitch and frequency turned up all the way. It sounds crazy of me doing that sort of thing, I admit, but it was one of those times that you wish you could go back to and say, "I really did that?"Back on topic though, my favorite synthesizers would have to be ETI-Eloquence, eSpeak, DECtalk, MacinTalk, Orpheus TTS (both synthetic and natural voice types), SoftVoice due to how crazy you can get with that synth, Nuance Vocalizer, Acapela TTS, IVONA, and some Japanese language synthesizers like ProTALKER and VoiceRoid. I like using Alex on my iPad Air because of how human
  he sounds, especially when reading long passages of text.

also guys the dll files are the 16bit windows95 and win98 version of keynote gold. it would be great if this could at least be made into an NVDA addon somehow without the demo limitations and a combo box to switch keynote languages along with pitch and rate settings. also keynote multimedia had voices called normal, big, small, and whisper.

It's a nice app with a very complete data base of products, but its bar code scanning routine is very slow. It won't recognized that it's looking at a bar code until both the camera and the product have been motionless for about five 
 seconds, not very convenient if you don't know where the bar code is on the product you are trying to identify. I've also had it absolutely refuse to see a bar code  when the camera is pointed directly at it.So, I use Red Laser to find the bar code, then switch to Digit Eyes and hope it will see the found bar code, sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't, and it acts that way with the same product. I've gotten to the point with Digit Eyes of counting myself lucky if it recognizes a bar code. It is that iffy.What would be great is if the Digit Eyes developer realized that their bar code scanning routine is crap and use Red Laser's routine instead.I've tried other bar code scanning apps, but have so far not liked any of them.

Ok, finally got past 21.3 last night! I did find an odd issue though. Not sure if it's a bug or not.I used big mines to destroy the carts. I've found that sometimes that doesn't work though. Occasionally when I've tried to go through that stage, the mines do 0 damage when the cart runs over them. Does anyone have any idea why this might be happening?

Well, this time it finished scanning for MP3s, but no list of tracks. Apparently the program doesn't present your tracks collection until you tell it you want to do something with them. Not what I was expecting.It also appears that every time you start it, it has to scan for MP3s again, while that may be great for small libraries, it's not so great if you have a medium to large sized music library. The Zune software saved the music library database so it could present it to you immediately upon start up, then it scanned and updated the database as needed in the background. The point here is that your library of tracks is always available. Just like in windows Explorer your files in the current folder are always listed and available to you. One of the limitations of the trial version is that it doesn't save any of the changes you've made to your collection, it's possible that part of that not saving is that it also doesn't save the databa
 se either.That's something else about it I'm not sure I like either. Instead of making your requested changes immediately, it save them in a buffer or list, then when you exit the program you have two option, to save the changes or discard them.In JAWS in most applications you can use either the space bar or the enter key to activate controls, but in Music categorizer it only accepts the space bar, minor I know, but it is a behavior that is different from the norm, so I point it out.In all, Music Categorizer appears to b a nice program, but it's not what I was looking for, so I'll move on.

Hello. Short answer, no.Your people need time to settle and start crafting, so your number of crafters is something that increases with your population gradually, you can't just recruit them like weapontheins. However, there are a few things you can do to encourage more. Firstly, trade routes are good, however the best way to get lots of goods is through your friend Iseries the Talking God, imho one of the most important gods especially early in the game. Blessings of Iseries really! help, and I personally always establish a shrine (if not a full temple) to him as soon as I can, indeed it's usually a toss up who gets a shrine first, Iseries, Venga or Humact. Also, Iseries worshippers on the ring help a lot both because of blessings, and because they're great in any negotiation.Another great way to encourage crafters is to give them something to craft. Go exploring around your Tula and if you find some ambar or firestones or 
 similar, people will work and sell it. Then of course,  a point or two of magic in trading at sacred time can really be helpful if you have to spare. Lastly of course, there is starting with the making of the first pot that gives you more crafters (I believe it's the first pot though I can't recall all the starting events and how they work). That can be useful earlier on, though these days I've switched to the clan dance sinse leadership is important all the way through the game especially at the end, and though goods are handy things to have if your clans doing well you should make them up anyway.Hth.

Greetings fellow audio gamers and survivors  I would like to take the opportunity  to rant about the core mechanic  in survive the wild that needs the most reform: the combining system. afterwards  I would like to throw out some ideas and suggestions that could maybe help, but feel free to give your own.First I would like to highlight the problem by describing how to make a net from scratch.So first we start by making a broken fishing net. To do this you first need to  make 16 tied strings and  let me describe the keystrokes to do thatI then tap S until u find string then  Left arrow  right arrow escape key then tap TRepeat 15 timesThen u need to make 8 heavily tied strings and here is howI then end key then  Left arrow  right arrow escape key then tap TRepeat 7 timesAnyway u guys get the idea, u need to open and close the inventory 35  times  just to make this one component , this isn’t all that bad , but hold on… I say that I would describe how to make it from scratch. Well to make it really from scratch lets make the string . How do we make string u ask? From grass. How much grass? 25  grass  per string  to be precise. Each piece of that grass  is manually collected by tapping the space bar while standing on a grass tile.Ok so maybe u need to mash your space bar a lot of times for a lousy piece of string,  but how many strings do u need for a net?320So lets do the math  320 times 25 equals8000And with that let me  lay out the key strokes for making 320 string from scratchFind grass then R to sit then mash the spacebar Press space bar 7999 more timesI then tap G until u find grass then left arrow right arrow escape key tap Trepeat 319 timesAnyway u r getting the idea why this game maybe needs to be renamed to survive the tedium until some changes Finally I want to make some suggestions. And just think, if you'd been born just a few hours later you'd have been a year younger. @Nial, no ideas on careers, but I did once meet a lady who'd taught English, and indeed Spanish in Japan, and had really liked it, indeed she went on to be a language teacher.I'm actually going to the states for three weeks not one, indeed it would've been a full month accept for Reever's vaccinations needing 22 days, though in fairness that would've made it quite a rush to get everything sorted out. I've unfortunately not heard of any audio described buffy and angel, or indeed firefly come to that. I actually don't mind the adventure of the week format, not when it's done well and mixed in with ongoing plot, so that you have a nice balance of something new and a story to keep you hooked. This is what some book
  series, particularly the urban fantasy ones like Dresden and Sandman Slim are doing and it's popular, albeit I've yet to find an urban fantasy I really liked, (lots are fun though I've not found any yet that are mind blowing). Ironically, in both Buffy and Angel it's the characters, dialogue and plot that I like, the things Weeden excells at. The vampires and demons and such are what you'd expect, but it's how they're dealt with, for example in the episode of Angel I watched last night one guy from the evil demonic law firm, the ones who are always seen doing shady deals with the bad guys but never getting their hands dirty was asked to authorize the assassination of three children. He then did a runner to tell Angel said news, but is wavering as to whether he should be loyal to the firm or do the right thing, and what is particularly cool is this being Joss Weaden, I really don't know which way he'll go. Oh, and just
  for amusement value the assassin is a woman with awsome combat skills who was trained to have unnatural powers of perception by an order of cave dwelling monks, so maskerades as being blind, something which the evil lawyers use when she winds up in court to get her off even when she's found literally holding the proverbial bloody knife.It's not even the "super blind" syndrome, sinse it's made pretty clear she isn't blind, even though her eyes don't work, she just plays on the cultural sterriotype of blind people as helpless. @Nin, I could go on for hours about Tolkien and his universe, a great subject to study. I would also highly recommend the Encyclopedia of Arda not only as a great reference (with some handy articles), but also as a useful source of tolkien related links from the scholarly to the silly.  dy and I are spending several hours a day on the phone in trans atlantic phone calls, but it's certainly not the same.Well today, despite sleeping extremely badly I've got lots of stuff to do (aside from said long phone call), including go to the bank and pick up my traveler's checks for the states, transfer everything! onto my new passport drive to take with me (sinse my lady and I do a lot of swapping of books and music), and also phone my mobile company to see about using my Iphone over there. Oh, and also at some point I have to start on the blindfold games from kid friendly software, sinse I have actually now played Blindfold breakout and I do feel a little bad that all of these don't have db pages sinse the developer has done such a great job,  as well as being a nice guy. Breakout is actually pretty cool and I'll likely keep it on my phone, indeed I'll probably pick up most of the others in the series. The only one that I
 've tried so far was an earlier version of blindfold racer, which I think still had some buggy control issues that made it rather difficult to play.Well now Coffee is needed!

Rants and suggestions are welcome, but please make them in the correct part of the forum, which is general game discussion. I will move this topic but please remember in future. Okay Moderation hat off, (which I needed to gather nothing to make I just had the agnet cyber elves gather me a million moderately sized fibers and weave them two million times while adding lots of oration). @Dragonlee, I'm not saying whether your suggestions are good or bad, I've only briefly played survive the wild so will leave this to those more familiar with the game than I. However, might I suggest that you consider using a little more punctuation in your messages, especially when making suggestions and arguements like this that you want people to take seriously.When the screen reader just rattles 
 on like this and there is no pause between all of the words because it is a very long sentence that is just going on and on and making lots of different poits that people are expected to keep up with without a break it is rather hard to understand if you see what I mean. We're not the English grammar police on this board, but obviously people are using screen readers and anything that makes the flow of text easier to understand, especially for our many members who speak English as a second language is likely to help, particularly when your making a critical point about a game. I'm sorry if this sounds unpleasant or dictatorial, I'm just making a suggestion as to how to get your point across (hence why I specified removal of moderation hat after mentioning moving the topic).

Hopefully u r still all here and u didn’t leave during that tedious and condescending explanation, but it wasn’t nearly as tedious as actually making a net.I think that the main core change  that needs to happen is for combining  in inventory needs to become possible or that the crafting  items won’t disappear  when u combine so u can tap T multiple times so u don’t have to open and close your inventory a million times.I also have some suggestions for easier string production.How about a new item called a rake which could be used to collect 50 grass at a time. 50 grass sounds like a lot but  keep in mind that it only makes 2 string.Next how about an item called a loom that u could combine with  grass to make 10 string  at a time. And it would not perish during the combination process similar to a knife .It could also make the process more efficient so u would need 20 grass instead of 25.So anyway here r my  2 cents. However, might I suggest that you consider using a little more punctuation in your messages, especially when making suggestions and arguements like this that you want people to take seriously.When the screen reader just rattles 
 on like this and there is no pause between all of the words because it is a very long sentence that is just going on and on and making lots of different poits that people are expected to keep up with without a break it is rather hard to understand if you see what I mean. We're not the English grammar police on this board, but obviously people are using screen readers and anything that makes the flow of text easier to understand, especially for our many members who speak English as a second language is likely to help, particularly when your making a critical point about a game. I'm sorry if this sounds unpleasant or dictatorial, I'm just making a suggestion as to how to get your point across (hence why I specified removal of moderation hat after mentioning moving the topic).

Because a friend pointed me this way:Instantbird is dead and was never officially a Mozilla project.Instantbird is also unfortunately one of the only two options I'm aware of for halfway decent accessible instant messaging.  Skype and whatever are good enough until you start trying to talk about code or something, or need to connect to IRC and Google Talk too, or whatever.  Then it's either Miranda (which is buggy and harder to set up but more capable) or Instantbird (which is buggy in different ways, but manages not to switch to RTL editing at random times on my machine).  There's a lot of single-network options, but those are the only two that work for multi-network instant messaging with NVDA at least.  Jaws might have custom scripts for more, I don't know.

Another reason why using a numpad is a bad idea is that for people on MacBooks, there is no way to emulate one with the internal keyboard without using external tools. This used to be possible in older models, but was later removed (don't ask me which one was the first not to have this feature though).Short of keyboards on phones, I've never seen one that is missing the right shift. Quite a few (again looking at MacBooks for instance), do miss the right control and applications keys though, so I think you should be OK with using left and right shift. Another option might be to keep the movement on the arrow keys but move the arm selection to 2 letter keys, for example A for left arm and D for right arm.

There are plenty of new and good ideas out there. Personally I love the idea of boss fights or group missions not involving crates where a task needs to be completed and there has to be multiple folks to get it done.In reality though development time is limited and I'd rather see existing bugs worked out before new and complex additions are made.It's times like this that I wish I knew how to code. I have tons of ideas but no knowledge on how to turn them into a functional game. Life is so cruel and unfortunately I'm rather dull. Bad mixture.

Supernova  has been using the left and right shift or control keys as modifyers for as long as I can remember. I hink the two alt keys have problems distinguishing, sinse I recall someone trying to use them and not doing so well, but left and right shift or control should be fine, after all Bsc used them in Pipe 2 for controlling your fists when you punched, and you can as Cae said give a remap optionThe system sounds interesting and one you've considered along with  what you want for the default controls. Also personally I've never been that much of a fan of the numberpad or for letter keys for spaced controls, sinse it always seems weerd to me after playing on joysticks and pads to have the up key not directly above but above and slightly to one side given the slant of a keyboar, for example if you had a s and d as your arrows, w is sort of pointing up and left on most machines not streight, so personally I've always preferd alpha nume
 ric controls for letter keys, eg, press h to check health, and arrows or other spaced out keys like the shifts or controls for controls in real space.The numbpad is also an option and of course doesn't have the space problem, though purely out of the numbpad being primarily used for Supernova I've got out of the habbit of using it much in programs, plus of course laptops don't have one anyway. All of that though is personal bias on my part and really control schemes are pretty flexible and easy to get used to whatever. Still to your initial question, shifts or controls are fine as far as I know so long as Ironcross said that you can distinguish them in the code.

@Dragonlee, it's more a general thing with any screen reader, sinse screen readers work on punctuation. We're not the grammar police as I said. As to the combining, why not a skills system that lowers the material requirements over time as you do it, on the basis that your character is learning to work more efficiently. This is what most crafting muds do, give you skills to succeed and succeed faster with something your char has done a lot.

If the carts spot you, they either avoid the mines, or destroy them with their weapons. I've never seen a big mine do 0 damage, however I think that in 25-4 and 25-5 you shouldn't be able to use big mines on the bio control system or the enemies from the final boss. I mean, they do so much damage, and all the boss would have to do is move over the mine, and boom. Now that, I would think of that as cheating.

It's possible, that some area is not drawn on OSM.But, please note, that in huge zoom levels (big square sizes), many if not most objects are filtered out.Also it's possible, that some bug of Grmapa makes import not working.If you could provide some lat long pairs, along with the import radius which you used, I could investigate the problem.

Thank you guys for the input. I agree about the num pad issue, as though the laptop I have for personal use has one, the one I have for school, plus my previous personal one don't have one. Most laptops don't have num pads, so I would basically be eliminating a lot of players. Nonetheless, the idea of key mapping is a possible one, as I see the following being an issue.  If supernova does indeed use shift as a modifier (I imagine that's annoying since you have to hit it twice to capitalize a letter, or am I wrong?), this may conflict since many of the messages are spoken by the active screen reader. Secondly, on a lot of computers, holding the right shift for 8 seconds could turn on filter keys, something that can get really annoying. I guess people could disable this though.  But because I have a, "say", procedure for all of my games, I suppose I could have it use tts if no screen reader is active, or perhaps regardless thereof, so t
 hat isn't really an issue.As for A and D, I tend not to prefer using those as push keys, I.E. Keys you must hold down to get things done), as it would heavily conflict with Jaws, causing it to freeze not only Jaws itself, but the computer.  Still, even with the above mentioned issues, I think I'll use the shifts by default, including a key mapper. As this game is a scroller, I don't see what would make you want to modify walking and jumping and climbing keys, but that would be your choice. Rambling over.

I don't know what you mean Steve about pressing shift twice to capitalize in Supernova, sinse shift modifyers tend to be with stuff like the numbpad or F keys or other functtions, certainly not with letter keys so you just do capitals the way you do normally. There is one layout which uses letter keys and capslock, though I personally prefer the layout that's either function keys or numberpad depending if I'm on a desktop or laptop. All this is pretty moot anyway sinse you can just instantly flick the keys off with supernova with ctrl8 anyway. Remember, it's only Jaws that does that key hooks grabbing thing and thus needs disabling entirely. I know super nova doesn't and can run fine with anything else running, it's just necessary to turn off the keys if there's a keystroke conflict with your program so you don't activate two functions at once by mistake. Indeed I'll often pause a game on my pc, flick Supernova's keys 
 and voice back on, read my e-mails or write something then alt tab back to the game, flick sn off and continue. I have heard window eyes works the same, Nvda I'm less certain of though I think it does. If your going to use direct screen reader output, I'd very much suggest either using a system like the tolk library that supports several screen readers, or include sapi, sinse nothing is more annoying than accessible programs which are a screen reader hog, even with nvda for those who don't use it regularly.

Survive the tedium. a rant

Greetings fellow audio gamers and survivors  I would like to take the opportunity  to rant about the core mechanic  in survive the wild that needs the most reform: the combining system. afterwards  I would like to throw out some ideas and suggestions that could maybe help, but feel free to give your own.First I would like to highlight the problem by describing how to make a net from scratch.So first we start by making a broken fishing net. To do this you first need to  make 16 tied strings and  let me describe the keystrokes to do that.. I then tap S until u find string. then  Left arrow  right arrow escape key then tap TRepeat 15 timesThen u need to make 8 heavily tied strings and here is howI then end key then  Left arrow  right arrow escape key then tap TRepeat 7 timesAnyway u guys get the idea, u need to open and close the inventory 35  times  just to make this one component , this isn’t all that bad , but hold on… I said that I would describe how to make it from scratch. Well to make it really from scratch lets make the string . How do we make string u ask? From grass. How much grass? 25  grass  per string  to be precise. Each piece of that grass  is manually collected by tapping the space bar while standing on a grass tile.Ok so maybe u need to mash your space bar a lot of times for a lousy piece of string,  but how many strings do u need for a net?320So lets do the math  320 times 25 equals8000And with that let me  lay out the key strokes for making 320 string from scratchFind grass then R to sit then mash the spacebar Press space bar 7999 more timesI then tap G until u find grass then left arrow right arrow escape key tap Trepeat 319 timesAnyway u r getting the idea why this game maybe needs to be renamed to survive the tedium until some changes Finally I want to make some suggestions. Hopefully u r still all here and u didn’t leave during that tedious and condescending explanation, but it wasn’t nearly as tedious as actually making a net.I think that the main core change  that needs to happen is for combining  in inventory needs to become possible or that the crafting  items won’t disappear  when u combine so u can tap T multiple times so u don’t have to open and close your inventory a million times.I also have some suggestions for easier string production.How about a new item called a rake which could be used to collect 50 grass at a time. 50 grass sounds like a lot but  keep in mind that it only makes 2 string.Next how about an item called a loom that u could combine with  grass to make 10 string  at a time. And it would not perish during the combination process similar to a knife .It could also make the process more efficient so u would need 20 grass instead of 25.So anyway here r my  2 cents. Let me know what u guys think

I am really frustrated with stages 11, at all. Past somehow 11.1, but now, no way. My girlfriend past 11-2 and now stucked in 11-3, but, I could not passShe hope that will succeed, but, honestly, I am losing hope for myself.hahaha.I am doing everything to clear level, to protect Carla and myself.However, one of us always dieing...Sometimes, in the same time...Simply cannot believe that no shield which could protect me from bombs.I avoid 99.9% of them, but one kill me, anyway.Read all messages about stage 11, I think that everything is explained well, but probably I am not smart enough to ecomplish all tasks so fast, at once.

Hmmm, I tried one of the inheritance books, but honestly I couldn't get on with it. Really! standard fantasy, indeed it seemed cobbled together out of elements from other books, bonded dragon riders, an order of semi mistical protectors who are all wiped out by one trator accept for the old wise mentor who must train the young farm boy, 13 forsworn, (I wonder if they also feel forsaken?). I love fantasy when done well, but really it was obvious to me the book had been written by a fifteen year old, (one who's parents happened to own a publishing company). Whether the series improves later I don't know,but I'm afraid I'm not planning to try and find out sinse there are so many other great things out there to read.Speaking of my lotr ring however, I've actually got my lady a replica aes sedai great serpent ring as a christmas present, sinse she's a huge WoT fan, we've had some rather fun arguements about the series inequities.

hi Dragonlee. you know, exactly crafting system is not too big problem right now, that's what i think. the more important problem is gifts, because you don't need to craft with them at all  just seat in the giftshop. about crafting i can say only one thing: it's totaly unrealistic. for example, a pot made from two peaces of clay. it will never hold water till you put it into a fire. another example is fishing. no comments here  or using clay to combine two blocks of wood when you make a boat. great. any way, dragonlee, you should have start talking about it right at the main stw topic, because if you didn't start it in new releases, i didn't even know about it. i think, i'm not the one who reads new releases and stw topic more often than gener
 al discussion topics.

I will post a link  to this topic in the main STW topic, so the survivors that would normally miss it, will have a chance to find it.As far as realism is concerned that deserves its own topic all tigether.  You mentioned how  u would  need to fire clay to make a pot, but that isn't even getting to the main realism problem  with pots.How does a  pot make water safe to drink? I understand that if u boiled the water in the pot... anyway thats getting away from the bigger issue, which is the combining system.I think it needs to be fixed first, because it makes the game  more boring.

I wrote it in such a way that Voice over and NVDA read it properly. Last time I tried dungeon crawl stone soop, I just got a totally graphical screen with no text I could interact with which was weerd. I've heard good things about the game, but I suspect that either it's upgraded to a full gui and thus stopped using screen reader friendly text, or there are several versions to download and try.

If you look back a few messages I give you a link to a zip file containing all needed files for the 16bit keynote gold multimedia. download and unzip it and you should have all you need to at least make an NVDA addon for keynote gold if this is possible. even better a sapi5 version for playing games but hey if it works in NVDA then it will work in the free talking dosbox for its games. again see the above link a few forum messages back.

hey i just thought of something for keynote gold. perhaps the easiest solution would be to just add it to the free speechHub addon? the reason for my thinking is this... keynote gold was made for 16 bit possibly 32bit windows98 systems. so we may need a server running in the background that 1. if keynote is still a demo first loads keynote gold then freezes the demo timer and 2. the server pretends to be an older system but just emulates the parts needed to run keynote gold and let NVDA communicate with it.

Hello, a long long time ago before chatting and even posting on the forumA lot of things going on. I currently am practicying, ya know, i am studying to be a teacher... so now im giving classess as a teacher. Second, my relationship with my girlfriend has ended some months ago , and sill im trying to find my direction again... Which i believe im allmost done. Third, i now have an Android phone! its a Samsun Galaxy fame (dont know which versión still), and im learning how to use it... alrightyI'm coding things that should have charge.now obviously charge charge needs to decrease over time weather you are in the object or not.so having it called from something like look_self would not work.so my question:advantages and disadvantages of using while(this.on==1)and I've heard you can use a scheduler. how would you do this, and is there somewhere I can check out the source code of a scheduler?thanks

there are certain speech addons only available for NVDA. therefore I propose a small NVDA addon that will let you choose a text file or maybe a word document and it will use NVDA's current speech synthesizer to then read that file at least into a .wav that can be later converted to mp3. what do you think?

Well, this time it finished scanning for MP3s, but no list of tracks. Apparently the program doesn't present your tracks collection until you tell it you want to do something with them. Not what I was looking for.It also appears that every time you start it, it has to scan for MP3s again, while that may be great for small libraries, it's not so great if you have a medium to large sized music library. The Zune software saved the music library database so it could present it to you immediately upon startup, then it scanned and updated the database as needed in the background. The point here is that your library of tracks is always available. Just like in windows Explorer your files in the current folder are always listed and available to you. One of the limitations of the trial version is that it doesn't save any of the changes you've made to your collection, it's possible that part of that not saving is that it also doesn't save the datab
 ase either.That's something else about it I'm not sure I like either. Instead of making your requested changes immediately, it save them in a buffer or list, then when you exit the program you have two option to save the changes or discard them.Inh JAWS in most applications you can use either the space bar or the enter key to activate controls, but in Music categorizer it only accepts the space bar, minor I know, but it is a behavior that is different from the norm, so I point it out.In all, Music Categorizer appears to b a nice program, but it's not what I was looking for, so I'll move on.

Oh huh. Could you link to how you set up your mac with Linux? (I'm assuming you duel-booted rather than running it inside a VM)?But yeah, no reason you can't run apache / nginx on a spare mac.Personally, I use Nginx, and I'm about to set up owncloud again, though that's not really what your looking for.

Figment: no, I'm really not wrong, you simply want a feature out of the box that iOS devices don’t provide. Download Dropbox from the App Store, and put your music and videos in your Dropbox. Now you have music and videos, without iTunes. Or install VLC, which also supports iCloud. There are local disk apps too which pretend to be file servers, SMB client apps for your network shares, public streaming services like Spotify or Apple or Google Music, and of course any protocol that allows remote access will work (Stream To Me, Transmit/SSH, etc). Finally, if it's about the cable, there are still other options for accessing the media folder itself (but not the structure) such as DiskAid, although these rely on understanding a closed protocol. And various alternative media managers, specifically MediaMonkey, support iOS directly, albeit less well than iTunes can. You have, as I said, more choice now than you've ever had. The wonderful irony, of course, is that you are absolutely correct that Apple were once blocking competition; the original iPod was a mass storage device and Apple locked out competitors by encrypting the database file with secrets only known to iTunes, and added insult to injury by inviting you to use that iPod in "Disk mode" to access any free space, which presented an empty drive with a hidden directory on it to operating systems, but no music. That's impractical today because mass storage requires exclusive access to the filesystem, so nobody does it. Happily, nowadays you only require iTunes for the making of local backups, and if you're willing to forego even those, there's always iCloud. It's also the only way to fully restore the firmware on your device, if the need arises, and to access iTunes Match if you want to store your music in the Apple cloud for use by the Music app, which is another effective way to cut the chord. It's honestly a shame iTunes is such a useful piece of software; I'd love nothing more than to see it torn to pieces, so people could pick and choose the bits they want. Perhaps, if Apple ever figures out how to derive all information from file structure, it could be copy-paste-compatible or iOS could move to MTP like Android does (currently unsupported by Mac OS without third-party tools, BTW). Until then the best you can do is tag your files and transfer them using the iTunes manual sync mode. And much as I believe Apple deserves bad karma for lock-in, this doesn't strike me as in any sense anti-competitive; at best it’s just particularly annoying to Windows users.Interesting history you had there with Apple. FWIW, I had a brief encounter with OS 9 (a musician friend of mine) and it all seemed very parochial then, too. I think that Apple rightly earned its reputation for being, in essence, AOL for computer users. At this time, Apple did not have an accessibility solution of its own. But I didn’t move to the Mac until OS X Leopard in 2008 (I was distinctly unimpressed when Tiger first came out with VoiceOver), when Microsoft were still trying to figure out how to do user interfaces and becoming very envious of the competition with the disastrous result that was Vista, and Apple were simply changing the rules on accessibility with a rock-solid general-purpose OS, and that was a very good time indeed to be an advocate. Not sure I could still say that, but I guess the prove is in the pudding, since I’m not using Windows or Android. There was no contest in the smartphone wars either; by the time Android came out with TalkBack, iOS was already streaks ahead.Nowadays, I think Apple’s business priorities are distinctly less pro-user and distinctly more pro-business with the success of its stores and iOS and the resulting “iOSification” of OS X, and with the new leadership, I’ve been trying to get off the addiction. Apple’s grasp of accessibility is very good, though, so it’s quite difficult to justify. As things stand, going back to Windows just hurts my head, iOS is buggy but still the best, Android is in what seems to be a perpetual state of near-readiness and OS X is stable and robust, has fewer choices and is clearly in decay as iOS takes it over, but is still a great joy to use. I’m largely all right with the iOS and OS X integration, although I’m increasingly annoyed by Apple’s dumbing down of OS X to meet the needs of iOS users. I’m not convinced this can be totally ignored, but it can definitely be worked around. Even without considering accessibility, I’m a big believer in going with what your needs dictate. It sounds to me like your objections are primarily based on principle, and maybe you’d benefit from looking at the landscape again yourself with an eye out for more practical concerns, to see which actually suits you best. Choices aren’t always optimal. Personally, my sympathies for the positive points of the Windows accessibility market are more than hurt by Windows’ continued lack of user interface flexibility for

I may be presuming here... but if you're making a game with combat in it and you want to control individual limbs, why not just use four keys on the actual keyboard? Something like u and i for the left and right arms and j and k for the left and right legs, with eeither the arrows or a s d and w for walking? Again, without context it's hard to pinpoint exactly what you're trying to do here...

 ideo games again. Planes crash considerably less frequently than cars, but since people ride in cars more often than planes, they have mental room to think planes are scarier. There were only ever 3 nuclear reactor accidents ever: one was deliberately mismanaged, one was completely forgettable because all the fail-safes are not a waste of time, and the other was hit with the most powerful force the Earth could bring against it, which is not exactly a common occurrence.Scary stories about things happening to children in the news, and suddenly a generation comes up fearing that every knock on the door or even unexpected phonecalls might be a serial killer, and that everyone is probably out to get them.It is really hard to wipe out humanity. You'd need something smarter and vastly more powerful--if the world tries to kill us, we engineer something to save us. Diseases? Hi all,  This one might seem strange, but I need an answer since I can't move on from a mechanic of a game I'm trying to create until I have answers.  I notice that for some people, you can't just use a left control or left alt for a keystroke in your games, you should use both controls and alts in case some people don't have two of them to work with. That in mind, are there some keyboards with only one shift key? All of the keyboards I've delt with have had a left shift, (below the caps lock), and a right shift, (below the enter). Is there a such keyboard that does not have both of these shift keys?  I ask this because in Matt the terrorist, holding the left or right shift and pressing arrows will move your left and right arms respectively. But I would need, to make use of both shift keys since a person generally has two arms, not one.

My general approach for that sort of thing was always the Num Pad, even when I was on a laptop without a num pad (there's usually an fn combination to turn part of the keyboard into a numpad, and if not, make the controls mappable).That said... I haven't encountered a keyboard with a single shift key, that I can recall.All that said, I would be reluctant to rely on distinguishing left shift Vs right shift. ... Even though I vaguely remember doing this at some point... or maybe it was Jaws that uses it in say all mode? Hmm.

The short answer to your question is - if you're a lone warrior, you might encounter a ghost. If you do, you can not win. (Though the idea of some unexpected, but thematically appropriate, way of defeating undead creatures is pretty interesting. I will have to consider that). You can run away, though, as you can from most encounters - though a variety of factors determine whether your runaway attempt is successful or not, each time you try.That said, this situation is very unlikely. The first member of your party joins you before you are able to leave the city, and she has a magical attack. Later on in the game, you could theoretically build a party with absolutely no magical offensive abilities, but thanks to this pro advice I'm giving you, you may think better of it. (Though if you really want to keep all the physical types together, there is a side quest that grants you an ability that's pretty deadly against undead enemies, no matter what class you are. T
 hen you have the best of both worlds.)And like you said, if you have a situation where one member of your party can't attack, such as a warrior vs. ghosts, or is just not very suited to attacking, such as someone wielding a bow against an enemy with a very high resistance to piercing-type attacks, you can always use that party member as a support unit. Have your warrior tank hits for the other party members, or have him use potions to restore your priest's magical energy so they can keep using their most powerful spells. That's the strategy I usually use.

I currently am practicing, ya know, i am studying to become a teacher... so now im giving classess as a teacher. Third, i now have an Android phone! its a Samsun Galaxy fame (dont know which version still), and im learning how to use it... Healing in this game is definitely not done mostly through the medkit... that's actually a relatively small part of it.As to the mines, the carts you destroy are not actually supposed to be destroyed... a skilled player can make it past all the carts without being spotted and since most of their patrol routes are quite easily memorized, you shouldn't even need to destroy them. The mines do 0 damage, because that's what's supposed to happen... those carts are so strong that they're almost, I said almost, indestructable.

The only thing I hope for the next firmware update is that they'll make the TTS option internationally. If not, then I'll seriously consider switching to an Xbox, which will result in lost of a lot of money, because I have bought a lot of PSN titles. I could also keep my ps4, but having both a ps3, ps4 and a Xbox might be a bit extreme. I think you from the US should be glad that you have the TTS feature on the ps4. Sony doesn't seem to care about us outside the US.

I would suggest changing the topic title as it's a little misleading. But as per your question, noone has any information that I know of at the moment. If you're looking for overt accessibility in consoles, microsoft seems to be a better bet as they're paying more obvious attention. I hope sony is working to step up their game, but right now, they're lagging behind.

LOL! They tried that back in the 90s in a couple of PDAs (Personal Digital Assistant). Let's just say the experience was rather underwhelming.Unless you were careful to form the letters properly, it fell apart rather quickly and spectacularly.The one that worked best was the system the Palm Pilot used. In it you printed the letters, but you had to learn their way of writing each letter. The system was logical though, and easy to learn.I felt naked if I left home without my Palm Pilot. I was very said when it finally died.
