OK Lazycat, this will maybe be painfull cause of my bad language but i will try to explain:When you are in the main game screen, where you can walk, fight or examine your soroundings, press for example e. This will open a menu called equip. This menu looks like the normal inventory menu. Select an item, some kind of weapon or armour with the arrow keys. When you are ready, press the escape key and you will see that the choosed item will be equipped or wielded. If you would press enter on the selected item you get the normal infotext about the selected item. Thats why i said, that it is a little strange behaviour for escape key.

Interesting! In one case you are realy wright! Somehow the escape key is working like the enterkey when you are using the a or e key in the main game screen.But in this case you realy can also use the i key to open the inventory, select the item and press e for equip or a to aplie.@Lazycat: Maybe you could add numbers to the tab switching? For example it would say:1 a wooden door2 a goblin3 100 pices of gold4 the dungeon exitSometimes it can but a little little disturbing when you have to ´find out first wheres the end of the list. Hope you know what i mean.

HMM, i think many things for accessibility could be reached by creating a soundpack for the game. This is possible. It would be a little tricky to share it cause of the folderpathes, but maybe theres a workaround for that too.Main point is, the complete screenreading when you are moving. You can turn it off, but then you have a little trouble with the fightings. Lazycat made a very good job with this on the other rogue game. Is anyone here interested in forming up a little team to create a soundpack?

I'd use the official client.  Mush-z is geared more towards visually impaired players, and you won't need most of what it has to offer.  DClient will be just fine for a quick run on Alter Aeon.  Kinda wanna bring around a character of mine and see if I can find you or something. hahaha.

Hey everyone. So I run a gaming channel on Youtube called Games For Everybody where I play story-driven video games and provide lots of physical description of the characters, the settings, and so on in order to bring these games to a wider audience that wouldn't be able to play them. Tomorrow I'll be doing a special one-off episode where I play a MUD with three visually impaired gamers. I've never played a MUD except for today so they would be showing me the ropes. My question for you is this. If you were watching the video, would you rather I use the default client for the game, or would you rather I use the MUSH Z client, which is geared towards people with visual impairments? I'm fully sighted, and I rely on what little graphics I'm given pretty hard so I'm more comfortable with the default client. At the same time though, I want to know what's better for my viewers. The game in question is Alter Aeon. I'll post a link to my channel if you want to check out the videos I have so far. Hi guys,So, have been neglecting the forum. Oops. Lots of things to cover here.Right now, the current version of the game won't run, as my server's offline. This is fixed for the next version, however I haven't a server right now to host it on. Another problem, any maps posted in the last 24-48 hours may need to be reuploaded. Sorry for the minor annoyances.Now on to the stuff.Chris, the TDM extention doesn't automatically associate, you'll need to do that manually.Brad and posters after, I've fixed the game so it doesn't leave the download maps menu after you download a map.Hopefully we can get this update out soon.

I honestly wouldn't go so far to put those statements in stone the way I see them being discussed at the moment, but that's just me. Music is a much greyer area than that... overall quality though, I can definitely say that Japanese games tend to put emphasis on gameplay over content. In certain genres, anyway.

HMM, i am not so familiar with using this NVDA-library. I think i cant explain to the developers the hole situation. The game is mostly accessible. Not nice in control and sometimes tricky to read out, but it is possible. So i am not sure if i will contact the developers. Additionaly english is not my mothertounge. HMM, strange. The generated dungeon with the dungeon seed felt very different.Another question: Maybe it is too tricky, but could you implement a coordinate system to give a better feeling how the dungeon looks and where some things are? For example it is good to know that some special items are on 30-64 or something like this. Want i want to say is, that they are more easier to find again. But i understand if this would cause too much work!The same for a little more far bridges and doors. Sometimes they are a little little out of view so it would be good to know where exactly they are.

So I've only gotten  5 stadium keys so I don't have access to the high low or mathmon game in the arcade, but I think the only game worth playing to get good credits is the slots. I shot down 120 ships in spaceman and got like 270 tokenss for it, I memorized like 14 or 15 manamons in the manimon game and got like 300 tokens, got an average reflex time of 206 ms in manaflex for like 30 tokens, and shot 8's and 9's and 10's in manamon's eye shot machine for 83 tokens.  The slot machine gives the best payout for your time, and every play only costs like 2 credits and credits aren't that expensive. If you get 3 eagala you get 2000 credits, and 3 squirmonk gives you 1000.

Quick tip here is that you should rather use these harmful potions when there is more than one monster around since the gas spreads and can hurt multiple monsters at once.

This is a common problem with Windows versions past XP. Try turning off UAC. I believe Microsoft has also changed the permissions for Program Files to be read only. You will have to put the game folder in a folder with full read/write permissions.

Yeh well, I am used to dealing with input on the IPad and the IPod touch. So, the IPhone isn't all that much different on how it works. You know how it is when you reach into your pocket to drag out that phone to make a call and you want to think that there is no way an IPod touch will place phone calls. LOL. What I dread is those menu trees where I have to press one for this, two for that and three for the other thing. I really having to get used to holding a big slab up to my face to just talk on the phone. A headset should fix that problem in a pinch. As it is so hapens, I am in search of a freen ring tune that sounds good to me. Maybe I should go make it. I want it to sort of be a one of a kind. I am asuming I can cut up an MP3 and do other things to it along with converting it to a M4R file without paying a lot of cash to do so...

I'm posting this here because I'm not certain that asking if anyone has a copy of an old game qualifies as a General Game Discussion. Moderators, if I'm wrong, please move this thread.While looking up Judgement Day to see if it's a game I might be interested in, I ran across an entry in the games database for JfW Hangman. I know there are other versions of the Hangman game, such as Jim Kitchen's version, but , apparently, this version is specifically for JAWS because it communicates directly with it. The database entry also said that it was open source and came with its Visual Basic source code.I'm starting a project that will need to be able to communicate directly with JAWS, so this game with its source code interests me as something I can learn from.Does anyone happen to have a copy of this game? I'd really appreciate it if you could make it available to me, or to the games archive.Thanks!

Final Endeavour is analogous to Struggle in the pokemon universe. It's what you use if you've run out of other moves, or if all  your moves are disabled (via Stifle, Restrain or both). It does damage, but you get hit with recoil. It will never run out of use points, but it's only available either when all your regular moves are out of use points or when they're all disabled. Hope that clears things up.

Hi.Well I am happy that both superliam 1 and jd are freeware.Fact is every time I have needed to reinstall, I need a new version of my reg code.Liam is to busy to send any user a reg code.He also ignores, is  a total crapper or simply has trouble with his email system.While this effectively means I have wasted cash buying these it does mean I can legally play games I like should have played or should have been able to play that I brought.Lets hope he automates the registration process.I fully understand he has a life, etc.Included on last night's stream, liam has actually said he will commit a few hours a week on actual work.I for one really don't want to condem liam as a total loss.I would have allready flamed him out, but I knew him before he got busy.That ftp server of music for one thing.Then there were the random streams, none were archived but every so often if I caught a stream it was wel

For my fellow gamers. For thos who are using steam, how are you doing it? A friend of mine via voice over IP from Canada set me up with a steam account. I am using JAWS for windows. When I smack enter on the icon and then do a insert f10 and down arrow down to steam and right click via the calculator keypad I am suppose to be able to see the store and community and such. But all I see is the word steam. Nothing else. We need to have valve corporation make steam blind accessible to screen readers. So, can someone assist me to get my feet wet with steam? I only signed up for a steam account because the new up dated version of Microsoft flight simulator who Dovetail Games from the U.K purchase FSX's copyrights and will be releasing a newer updated version of Microsoft flight simulator here in December. I would deeply appreciate it if someone could help me out. Why can we not at least here in the states with the ADA have

Speaking as a fan of Netback from the days of 3.3.x, I think that any command like that might be tedious in practice. It sounds like a good idea, but I can't imagine actually using it, at least not over extended periods.If I had to pick an approach I'd probably go with describing the tiles starting from north, but I feel as though there has to be a more efficient way to handle things. An extension of the existing "Look," command might be beneficial, for instance, though to be honest it already does a lot of what we'd want.What might be more helpful would be self-voicing for NethAck, a la the BrogueSpeak project mentioned elsewhere on this forum.

i think it's good you have it so that after 3 visits from other players, they have the chance to purchase it out from under you, ... if they have the supplies to do so of course. lol. and the thing is, baring in mind, that as you have more and more people playing on here, it's going to mean that it won't take long for 3 visits to happen, and suddenly, your shops are disappearing, forcing you to purchase them back. so i really don't think it's going to be much of a problem, keeping them after death / being chucked overboard, because you still have the chance that others could purchase them out before you can get to them.although, as an interesting point, you may have to increase it later on down the track, to 5 visits or something, before they can be purchased out from under you, when you do have more on the server. lol. cause it could well get to the point that you have enough people running around to basically take a shop before you can even make it
  one time around the land! ahaha

Keba, because it was a quick adjustment to make, now each time you land on a loyal shop your crew's morale will increase by 1.  I agree that stopping in and receiving free supplies from a shop would probably be a happy thing.I find myself continually torn between resetting loyal lands when you die, and keeping them under your control.  I share Dark's concerns, which is why I've reset shops when you die, but I'm wondering if there is middle ground somewhere.  What if I removed the 3-visit protection that keeps shops under your control for a minimum of 3 visits by other players?  I don't actually know much that is coming in to play anyway.  If it were easier for players to lose shops to Other players, it might not be so risky to keep them loyal after death.  Even with that change, there might need to be some other way to balance things so 1 or 2 guys don't always own everything.I'm open to ideas.

As for trophies, it looks like the version the free game is based on is out of date, because you unfortunately can't replay your trophies. Not to complain, after all I'm really glad he made the game free, though it would be nice if he'd let us decrypt the trophy sounds at least for listening purposes. As for Super Liam 2, we don't quite know what the crystal is yet since the engine is in pretty early stages, but we do have some audio of what we can expect! The storyline is textual and delivered in a Japanese-game style way, i e, pressing enter to reveal lines in the story. Knowing Liam and his games I'm pretty sure there's a chance he'll eventually voice the storyline, but most likely when the engine is more complete as right now it's in very early stages. All we know is that Super Liam 2 will be a major! facelift as far as game mechanics and will be a completely ne
 w experience.

all the Mario effects originally were 8 bit... but I wouldn't put those statements in a box like that. Some of the best 8 bit video game soundtracks were from Japanese games... and what do you mean by most soundtracks today being unpersonal because they're like film scores? well, considering how built up i got, you'd think it was too easy. far from it. it took hours and hours and bloody hours! of clicking roll dice. ahahaif anything, the one thing that anoys me, is when i die and have to start over, the fact that all my effort is gone in an instant is very touch. i'd say to make it so that the shops and such things you've invested in, remain yours so you can get back on your feet. after all, if you have a few people in the game running around the lands, they're going to make it possible to take them off you again anyways. it's very hard to get off the ground at the moment, and means a huge amount of time spent simply clicking roll dice and nothing more, for hours on end. lol. and most of the time, excepting that last one round, i was basically dieing within 10 to 20 mins anyways. so getting no where fast. if anything, it's the crew morale that's giving me some of the most trouble. it's for ever running do
 wn and getting me thrown out.perhaps you should gain morale for collecting over a set amount at your shops or something. something extra to help you keep that morale up. kind of like a boost to the crew for gathering up some more good stuff for their work. perhaps if you sell enough of one item you'd gain a bit too. sort of like a pay off to the crew for a good job.

Keba I figured out what happened with that Squid attack.  Normally a victory in battle cannot lower morale below 1, because while the crew may be sad about the people who were lost, they did just kill a huge sea monster.  The bug came into how the game removes the bonuses of the crew.  You had a few crew members who raise the maximum morale, their deaths were the problem.  Basically morale dropped as each of those 11 crewmen were eaten by the squid (a horrible way to go), but the game stopped lowering the value once it reached 1.  As the morale boosting ones died, 5 morale was removed from the crew just to remove the bonus they were responsible for.I have fixed the code to prevent that from happening again, and I do apologize for your crew throwing you into the sea.  When it comes to shop loyalty, it is based on how many rolls (moves) you ha
 ve made.  Each time you roll, all of your loyal shops generate some small fraction of a resource and add it to their total.  By the time you make your way back to the place, those tiny amounts have usually added up to something useful.To the people who are now dominating the game, have you noticed specific things about the game that are making it too easy?  Like for example, should you spend 1 food per crew even when going around the lands?  Do loyal shops give too many resources?  Should ship upgrades be more expensive?  I haven't done as well at the game as you guys, so you may have noticed some things I would normally have to guess on.

Great news, particularly that Liam might be back in the development business. I'd love to see a Superliam 2 and finally! find out what that damb crystal was that Liam found after X1 goes boom!, Superliam was one of the first audiogames I played and I've run through it several times since then, indeed jumping those lava pits and dodging those fireballs in crazy party was getting me quite nostalgic . Nice that everyone can now smack it to Supreme commander Ather of course. I'll change the status of Jd in the database, and hopefully I'll be adding some more Lworks games soon enough.

ok, i think i found a small bug? i crossed from one land to another, and had to deal with a squid on the way. 11 of my 21 or so crew died, and suddenly, from a level of 38 out of 40 i was down to minus 7 crew morale! so of coures, i then lost the game, even though i had a huge crew left, and loads and loads of stuff that i'd built up!

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I absolutely love in some ways at least, the Irrodium fight  this is the kind of difficult boss that I feel audio games have been lacking for a long time .  I felt like every member of my team had its own job to do during the fight,  and while at some point it was incredibly frustrating, it gave me a real sense of a life and death battle .  Naturally I'm not counting the Japanese games when talking about this,   The closest comparison I can think of is entombed ,  and while I enjoyed that game immensely at the time, it never gave me that form of satisfaction   Because of how much it was missing in certain areas . .

@John the spoonbill games are all available for direct download from Ian Humphries own site. I know because I had to update all of the BG games in the database to provide download links, though I don't know what Ian Humphries position is on the games being hosted elsewhere.Great if you could add the Bsc games. I'll also look through the pages if I come to them and see what I have, for example I do have copies of Savage gamut, self destruct, and different versions of both montizumas revenge and mysteries of the ancients to the ones you have, indeed I believe the version of mysteries of the ancients I have was the six level beta Tom made before he had the cease and decist order in 2009 and changed the project to mysteries of the ancients.While we're talking status, one developer I'm not certain of is code factory. I note you have an install version of Time adventures on your "various games" listing, but I'd not heard their game
 s were abandonware, since they certainly were commercial at one time, or is that the demo version of time adventures?
