Re: looking for Bluetooth headphones with the minimum amount of latency.

2019-04-04 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Off-topic room : defender via Audiogames-reflector

Re: looking for Bluetooth headphones with the minimum amount of latency.

So it's quite confusing, and I guess there haven't been many third party tests to confirm this yet, but here's the deal with low latency on the Iphone.Basically, no the Iphone doesn't support APTX LL, or even regular APTX. It has it's own codec called AAC, which apparently sounds a bit better in real world usage than APTX anyway, but has a medium amount of lag still, just like standard APTX.However, things change on the Iphone 8 and X, because they support bluetooth 5. Which (on paper) reduces lag allot on it's own even if your using a regular codec. So if you've got some bluetooth 5 headphones and a device that supports bluetooth 5, and your using a decent codec like APTX or AAC, then it (should) be almost as good as APTX LL is on versions of bluetooth below 5.Which would be great, because apparently their are no phones or laptops that support APTXLL out of the box, meaning that you have to have an external adapter if you want to use it and that's kind of annoying. But again reviews are mixed, and part of the confusion comes from the fact that phones automatically start video a little late so that the audio syncs up properly even if the codec is laggy, and that some phones/headphones may be implementing bluetooth 5 better than others, as it's still pretty knew.So it's worth a try especially if you can get a good return policy so you can test it out for your self, but it's not a for sure thing.

We are thinking of targeting rpg style games with at least 3 hours of game play content. What story mode games would you like to see become accessible? No promises can be made at all, however your feedback is greatly appreciated and will be used to help further the development in this area.

I'm definitely in favor of a ban list. There are certain people who are spammers and cheaters who I don't want on my servers, and being able to make sure they can't join would be ideal. I know that people could use a VPN to get around it, but I don't know how invested people would be in getting around that if they can host their own servers anyway.

Pragma, if you ever end up creating a server application, is there a way you can prevent players from losing all their progress and data if they disconnect? The current peer to peer system is really bad about dropping everything if someone's Internet connection goes out for even a few seconds. Perhaps the server could create temporary files that store the user information so they can reconnect without losing everything. If you have to make it work with the current peer to peer system, would it be possible to store temporary player data in the Crazy Party directory of the person hosting the server?I'd also like to see spectator mode improved. If players join battles, they can't observe the battle until the next one starts. Players should be able to spectate the moment they connect. The server host should be able to be notified and see all players connected, even if some are spectating. Currently, it only shows who is actually playing. If chat is an issue for spectators, add an option for the game host to toggle spectator chat on or off. Of course, the host could always kick players out if it got bad enough.Speaking of kicking, please consider adding a ban option. This would create a ban file either on the server's local computer or the server program if you end up making one. This file would include the IP addresses of the people you wanted to ban. If someone using that IP address tried to connect, the game would notify the person that he/she was banned from connecting to this server.

Yeah, don't cry piracy if your key has been used too many times. I mean it's possible, but what if I want to register the game on a couple computers and have to register it again every time I do a clean install of Windows? What irritates me is Aaron's lack of customer service and the desire to actually you know, listen to what people are saying and fix things? The fact that Manamon doesn't have a central server for online play is ridiculous! If it was a free product I might understand, but Aaron is selling this and just tells his customers "Oh, forward UDP ports 15000 and 15001. Sorry, I won't help you beyond that." That is extremely unprofessional and leaves those with less technical knowledge in the cold!I'd argue the best part about Manamon is online play, yet it's the feature with the least attention. Why can't we have more than two participants? Why can't we review chat and game messages?

I disagree about posts being deleted when warnings, bans, etc. expire. Imho if we're going to create and keep this kind of record, it needs to note warnings and bans even after they've expired. We need to know our history. The only possible exception to this, imho again, would be when a user clearly has no regard for the forum rules, to the point that they've been permanently banned. In this case, it hardly matters what their first warning was about because they're gone and not coming back.

Re: what's something special about region of the country you live in

@Simba, The most surprising thing I was faced with when I came to Germany was that people on the street would greet you without knowing  or ever having seen you before. I study in a small town called Vechta and whenever I walk on the street, people keep saying "Moin" to me, which means something like hello. It was so strange in the first days because in my culture randomly saying hello to someone indicates that you want him/her to help you. I really love it. It doesn't matter if you're in an intersection, park, mountain, forest, or whatever, if you come across someone, he/she will say "Moin".The next surprising thing is the unlimited number of sausages you have here in Germany. I've tried more than 15 in just 20 days. It's crazy.

Yeah. Although somethings aren't like what people say. For instance, Two years ago(1396), There was the wedding ceremony of one of my families. Another family of myne lives in china and of course have friends there. He came to Iran and brought some of his friends with him here. After they saw the wedding ceremony they were amazed. They thought Iran is one of those places that everything is war and actually happyness isn't something but their opinions looked changed a lot. They enjoyed the ceremony. Well, one of those loud musics again. I remember I went outside of the salon  that the wedding ceremony was taking place just because of the loud music.

Now admittedly I haven't asked him for keys recently, but he did so in the past at least once, and maybe twice, when I asked. So this is not a dev who never, ever replaces keys. That said, there needs to be a note somewhere on how exactly this works. i.e., how many reinstalls is a key good for?If this is legit, then being told you pirated the game because you reinstalled it one too many times is...well, it's a bit of a bad choice. Why not just say "You have exceeded the maximum number of installs", vs. "You have now pirated the game"? That's the issue here.

It made be to hard for aprone to program this in to swamp, but it would be interesting seeing a type of log out thing based off what is in the ready player one book. in the Ready player one book, that last place you wanted to log out was in a fight, because the whole log out process would leave your player opne to attack for about a minnet or something. I figure that having something like that would lead players of swamp to only log out in a safe zone, and maybe not cheeting in that way again. Just a thought and I doudt that we will see anything like that built in to swamp.

It is vitally important that you start with a blank project, so hit control F4 just to be sure, if asked to save, well decide, but then let it wipe you and start fresh. Change that setting, its 5 up from the bottom on the view menu, and only that setting. I can't stress that enough, because anything else you might change will be saved like this, and if then, your reaper behaves in odd ways, you might not associate it in your mind why its doing that. Hit Alt Enter to get into the project settings, then hit the button that says, "Save as default project settings". Now, whenever you launch Reaper, it will start out like the settings in the template, as it loads the default when it starts.***edit***I've unmapped that master tempo thing because I never use it. Hit F4, go to find shortcut, press ALT T, go back to the list, select the master tempo, tab and make sure the shortcut is selected and hit remove. Once done, Alt T will work as expected.***Edit***W will go to start of project, as will control Home.*Edit*In that FX window for reaEQ, as well as many others, you can hit space to play from directly within it without the need to close it.

Re: what's something special about region of the country you live in

Hello. I come from iran. You are very likely to know what's going on here at the moment, the economy status and stuff alike. These are said and are being said so I skip to the good stuff. My country is farely big about 1.648 million km². It's population is around 81.16 milion(2017). Our culture is really different than a lot of countries in europe, america or even asia. For example our new year celebration. It happens in 13 days. Families usually visit their relatives in that time, they get new clothing, Some people try to change themselves and generally there's a kind of joy between people in these 13 days. At the 13th day, people leave their houses and usually go out of their cities and have a lot of fun such as playing, dancing and such cool stuff. Let me say this before I forget. Our year is based on sun and we're currently in the year 1398. This is another special thing about us.As I mentioned above, Iran is a farely big country. It has a lot of planes and jungles which some of them are now really got hurt due to wrong road buildings and stuff like that inside them. It still has a lot of beautiful natural places to visit. Yeah we are muslims but we're a lot different than a lot of other islamic countries out there. E.G when we're supposed to be happy, we really are. One of these events that we're supposed to be happy in, is the wedding cerimonies. People dance a lot in these situations with freekin loud musics that just wanna blow your chest off. I've been in one of them about two hours ago and my ears were making weird tone noises due to the very loud music playing. These are something like techno mixed with iranian style rhythms.People usually play piano, violin guitar,, santoor(an iranian instrument), tar, setar, dotar, ney, tombak, zarb, daf, dariye(which are all local instruments). People here really love wasting their money on certain stuff such as food, luxury mobile devices and such. I'm one of the food boys lol. When I want to order a food I go with the thing I want without paying attention to the price. I even bought two pizzas at once to eat or usually order those big pizzas that are for a family. I have to tell you that the normal sized pizzas here are big enough to make you not wanting to eat anything else after eating one of those pizzas. I still haven't and probably won't be going into detail about the great and beautiful historic museums here, historic places and old stuff like these which Iran is full of.Edit: It looks like I forgot to write about the pronunciations that are so vary here. The actual language that Iranian people speak is persian. Nevertheless We have people that speak turkish and are Iranians, we have people that speak arabic and are Iranians, I think once upon a time we had Iranians that would speak like portugals. I have to say that the turkish language that is being used in iran is different than the turkish language that is being used in turkie. Only a very small number of words are the same.

Re: creating per-application speech profiles in jaws 2019?

There's probably a more straight forward way to do it, but the only way I know how to do this is with a script. If you create a profile by making whatever changes to rate, person,  etc you like, then hit the save as and give it a name. Then you start the application you want the profile to be assigned to, and hit insert 0 to open the script file for that particular app. If it's a blank file, you can just copy the three lines of script and paste them straight in. If it already has scripts, you need to check if it already has an auto start event function. It'll be near the top. If so, just copy the line that starts SetActiveVoice..., and paste it on its own line just before the EndFunction line at the bottom of the AutoStartEvent function. You just need to replace the enter name here part with the name of your profile, leaving the quotes intact, and hit control s to save and compile. Now whenever you start that app, it will automatically load the profile you created, and then switch back to the default profile whenever focus moves to a different app.. Function AutoStartEvent ()SetActiveVoiceProfileByName ("enter name here")EndFunction

Re: Accessible Sound Design Course - First Lesson Up

If you have goldwave, you should be able to hit F11, go into devices, and set your input to loopback (your active sound device). Then it will record the system sounds, the screenn reader, etc. To put your mic in this, you could right click on the speaker icon in the tray near the clock. In like, windows versions previous to 10, you could hit recording, if you hit sound settings, it will take you into the settings app, so you don't want that. Hit sounds instead, then click on the recording tab. Go to your mic, right click then click properties. Go to the listen tab, make sure the box is on the active sound device then click the checkbox and hit apply and you'll end up with you hearing yourself, but you'll get the mic into the mix. Of course, if you can do it using hardware, probably better, but that's how you can do it through software. Also, I'll put it here, though I think most of us probably know it, the same way  a screen reader would probably get into that area is type mmsys.cpl in the run dialog.

I still haven't and probably won't be going into detail about the great and beautiful historic museums here, historic places and old stuff like these which Iran is full of.

Re: Accessible Sound Design Course - First Lesson Up

Note: I used windows game recorder which does NOT record screen readers. The screen reader voice is hard to hear, sorry about that. I'll work on that next time.Lesson 1: https://youtu.be/kSTfi1J_HaEAssignment 1:Download the following file. It's me talking. Don't listen to it like it's instruction, it's just audio to work with. https://www.dropbox.com/s/znlnozfzs1gf0 … 1.wav?dl=0Open Reaper. Press control T for a new trackPress Alt V and scroll down, selecting FX browserWhen you hear "tree view" find "EQ" and press enter. That effect is now applied to the track.Press Alt I and select media file. Find the file you downloaded by navigating through your OS, probably downloads folder. Press tab until you hear "frequency slider" or "frequency HZ edit" Set the frequency to anywhere between 20 and 2000. You'll need to come back to tweak this setting later.Press tab. Set the type to "band" in the combo box. Press tab. Set the band gain slider to anything below 0. You'll need to come back to tweak this setting. Press tab. Set the bandwidth somewhere between 0.2 and 3. You'll need to come back to tweak this setting. Your task is to tweak those three settings to produce the following effects on my voice: DO NOT. DO NOT. DO NOT increase gain at all above 0. 1. Make my voice sound like I'm talking to you through a radio. Experiment with different hZ.2. Make my voice sound like I'm talking underwater. Experiment with different hZ. 3. Challenge. Make my voice optimised. There is no set formula here, as EQing depends on each voice.Use a high pass filter in the combo box mentioned earlier, and remove everything below 60hZ. This will cut out the "muddiness" of the sound.Leave tab 1 alone now! When you hear "bands tab control" press right and move to tab 2.Make the band type "band". Make the band gain around 3dB. Make the band width slider around 0.3, something nice and skinny. Make the band frequency around 2,000 hZ. Experiment here. Move on to band 3!Lower the gain to -3dB. Set the frequency around 400hZ. Set the band width around 0.8These are the basic settings for voice optimisation. They cut down on the low muddiness in the male voice, they lower the frequency of the middle of the band, and slightly emphasize the consonants. Play the file back, pressing B to bypass the effects you've just created, to hear the difference.

Sorry about that. For some reason, I thought you was wanting something for home use. On the go, Bluetooth is your only real option then seeing that most if not all on the go devices use Bluetooth. I have heard ok things about the apple air pods, but do not know if you would want those. I have a set of bose, but those have to much of the delay for you. Surviverable, but still a bit much. Anyway, I will be keeping an eye on this topic. As a side note, does the IPhone support APTX LL? Matter of fact, what phones support that?

Re: Accessible Sound Design Course - Set up Reaper Now, Before the Course

OK will do that when the course is recorded.About workflows, yeah I could see how sighted people could be annoyed with that tab and shift tab stuff. I do also think that sighted people who became hybrid mouse and keyboard users could become much faster. A lot of stuff you do with a screen reader that uses the keyboard isn't even screen reader specific, and is part of the OS.I do have a shortcut tip to get the tracks imported and the fx in them for your assignments. NVDA users can double tap insert, which will cause NVDA to allow the insert through if that makes any sense, since insert is the NVDA key, a second tap will tell NVDA you actually wanted to hit insert. N.b. Jaws users cannot do this to my knowledge and would have to hit inser + 3 to enable pass through then tap insert (if my Jaws key knowledge is still correct after 10 years of not using it). This will let you select a file or files, new tracks will be created when you do this. This is the same as the insert media item on new track from the insert menu. For the FX browser, hit F, then type reaeq, down arrow, enter.

I live in Quebec, the French speaking part of Canada. You’ve probably come across Poutine (fries with cheese curds and gravy for those who don’t know), which was invented here, and if you speak French you’ve probably seen at least one sit com episode that jokes about how unlike normal French Quebec French sounds. It’s an interesting place, to say the least. Being the biggest non-English speaking area for several thousand KM in any direction creates some interesting oddities, as well as an intense determination to keep the culture and language going even with all the external push back. Quebec produces more French entertainment media than any other place on the planet, including France.

Re: creating per-application speech profiles in jaws 2019?

Do you mean using different voices and rates etc for different applications?

@amerikranian trimple of doom has a difficulty of %300, meaning its three times harder than usual. if I remember rightly, I portalled second time at 32 so didn't do trimple of doom until my third run, and it was still tough  then, though on my fourth run I  was farming it for metal . Trimps is a game which is built around portalling  coming back stronger, so if you've bought all the equipment upgrades, gyms, trainers etc you can find and are still not getting any further, its probably time to head through that portal. I'd highly recommend the size challenge if you haven't done it already since it gives access to what is probably the single best perk in the game. At the moment since I'm going to be away Friday to Monday, I'm concentrating on buying storage upgrades. I don't know if I'll be able to buy enough of them to last the time, but we'll see and at least then I'll have a huge tonne of resources when I get back next week.

But what if someone like Tmstuff000 says something like he did in post 15 of the stickied topic in the dev room, what would you think of that. He's not just saying he doesn't like licensing, he's saying yaye! this makes it easier for us to do illegal stuff with this content! Is that enough probable cause? Or is that just selfish and shitty behavior that is ultimately still just an opinion.

Re: creating per-application speech profiles in jaws 2019?

Do you mean using different voices and rates etc for different applications? There's probably a more straight forward way to do it, but the only way I know how to do this is with a script. If you create a profile by making whatever changes to rate, person,  etc you like, then hit the save as and give it a name. Then you start the application you want the profile to be assigned to, and hit insert 0 to open the script manager with a blank file for that particular app. Then enter the following three lines, replacing the enter name here part with the name of your profile, leaving the quotes intact, and hit control s to save and compile. Now whenever you start that app, it will automatically load the profile you created, and then switch back to the default profile whenever focus moves to a different app.. Function AutoStartEvent ()SetActiveVoiceProfileByName ("enter name here")EndFunction

Re: A useable looking audio game engine in Python

A newbie would probably use it because it is obviously built more for making audio games then Pygame is.They probably don't want to go through all the display functions, trying to figure out which vague function will show them a window. You could always look it up on Google but it's easier not to.I wonder which tutorial doesn't work?  I didn't try many of them. You can probably find some extra features by going through the source, which seems commented.I didn't look at that much, either.

Re: Accessible Sound Design Course - Set up Reaper Now, Before the Course

Instructional audio being recorded right now. Don't start yet.Assignment 1:Download the following file.

Best map format for complex environments

2019-04-04 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Developers room : nolan via Audiogames-reflector

Best map format for complex environments

I'm wondering if there's a map format that works particularly well for creating levels when you can't use a standard map/level editor? To narrow the question down, I'm thinking specifically of 2-D tilemaps. Tiled's features look great, and I like that it is a text-based format. But even if you hand-write a Tiled map, I think the editor provides a lot of added features that would make the hand-written map fairly useless. For instance, if you're using a physics system to handle collisions, it looks like Tiled can trace your individual tiles and create individual large polygons for walls and such. Are there any mainstream formats that we can work with? If not, what do people find works well? I'd like something a *bit* more complex than just square/rectangular rooms with doors between them--at least corridors with turns would be nice. Thanks.

Re: Crazy Party: mini-games and card battle! (beta65)

So, I thought I'd try my hand at a good mirror deck.As far as I know, it...kind of doesn't exist. You need a lot of mirror cards in your hand for it to fire, which probably means you need Preventive Trussing and some luck. Plus you have to build up your steel level (steel symbol helps with this) in order to pull off the mirror throw/mirror repair cycle. So I guess if an enemy sits still for long enough, you might pull it off.Issue is, steel is kind of easy to wall (electric, steel, fire, water), and those types are pretty common. Sure, it hurts like hell if you get it running, but it's not safe and it's really, really luck-based. I wish there were some more mirror cards, and I wish Mirror's Repair was a bit lower level. A couple of ideas follow:Reflection of Self: psychic level 1; follows the number of mirror cards in the launcher's hand; grants 4 health points; launcher puts 1 mirror card in their exile (so like Floral Vitality, except for mirrors, it's a little better but you can't generate mirrors the way you generate flowers)Unless...Magical Shards (fairy 3): works following the number of mirror cards in the launcher's hand; takes 2 health points from the launcher; launcher gets one Mirror Shard in their handMirror Shard: has a passive effect in the hand, 1 power on mirror attacks, 3 power on ray received attacks, 2 power on fairy received attacks, 2 power on psychic received attacksSo if you had a handful of those and could essentially generate them, you could make the strat really, really strong, but the bigger it got, the more vulnerable to fairy and psychic and ray attacks in general you'd get. Also, of course, it costs HP, so it's sort of like the Self-Mutilation strat, except higher payoff and higher risk.

2019-04-04 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Off-topic room : simba via Audiogames-reflector

Re: what's something special about region of the country you live in

Hi.I come from an arria in Germany called the Ruhrgebiet, the Ruhr arria, the Ruhr is a river which encloses this arria of Germany together with the Rhine, it is located in the central of North-Rhine-Westfalia.The Arria is widely known for it's mining activitys which were actually recognized throughout Europe. In fact, the Ruhr Arria was the biggest ore and cole mining place in Europe and was a very big factore in the rebuilding of Germany after the second world war had ended. The mining has now stopped, as a matter of fact, the last mining site has been closed recently. One thing that we are known for is what we call a raw hardiness, you will find someone from the Ruhr Arria talking to you and even though he might sound angry with you, he already could be your best friend. due to the way that the people talk and the expressions they use, you get a really rough sounding German. Things like grammar also follow their own ways.for example, you don't say, it's raining, you would say it is doing raining. You can't really transcribe it well, you would need to listen in comparison to your normal high German. Or, you don't go to your grand mas house, you go to, grand ma her house. Also, when a word ends with an s sounds, we make a t out of the sound. Due to that we speak really fast, you also pull words together, a simple, come on turns into a cmone as an example. The language is also heavily influenced by people from other cuntrys coming hear to find work in the mining sites or the steal industry. Parts of the polish language found their way into modern speak. A Mottek is basically just a mining hammer which you take to work, while a Matka is an elderly round female.  Mostly, people have a hard shell and a soft core so to speak, with a lot of passion for their place of birth, people know that they took a large part in the rebuild of Germany and you can definatelly feel that when talking to older persons, of whom went underground in the 50s to 70s to mine the ore. Friendship plays a large role here. Also, Soccer is really a thing here and you will found two teams which everyone is after, which are local rivals. When these teams are heading for a match in one of the two home towns, you really feel that fire burning and everyone beeing under pressure. Also, and people from berlin might object to that, but we were the inventors of the Currywurst, basically sausages with a curry sauce, french fries and ketchup or mayonaise with the fries, traditionally you drink a beer, mostly a Pils to that. The Ruhgebiet is changing rappitly. The time where the laundry which you hung out to dry and it turned all dirty due to the smoke of the industrial machines is over, more and more green parks and arrias are founded. Well, one nuisance remains though, the famous Autobahn, or rather highway a40 which draws a line through the whole arria is a major pain in the ass because everytime you have to travel it, you sooner or later land in a traffic jam.So, even though the people over hear seam rough and a little blunt, don't be scared and give us a visit if you are in germany, I am happy to show you around.Greetings Moritz.

We're trying to be more accountable as staff

Hi all,I am looking for feedback here, in this particular topic.Below, I've pasted a link to a topic that is closed, but hopefully should let staff post. In this topic, eventually there will be a list of users and how many warnings they have, and also if anyone is banned and the reasons for such actions. The topic is located in site and forum feedback as well. We would like your feedback as a community on this system, could it be improved? At the moment, no one is listed in the topic, so you may have to wait a while. It's more about allowing for accountability, and some forum systems actually show people's warning level on their profiles, so while this is more simple than that and more manual as well, I hope it provides the same function. Of course, please let us know if you think a different name may be required for the topic as well. This new topic can be found below.https://forum.audiogames.net/topic/2837 … nishments/
