Yeah noticed a microsecond delay when going from an emu to actual hardware. Things are still doable on an emulator but you just have to time your buttons a microsecond earlier.

To everyone asking for longer lifespans in order to beat the really high-ranked competitions: How many times have you combined monsters? Or are you expecting a monster you revived from a file to achieve this? I'm trying to understand. I was under the impression you had to train and combine several generations of monsters to get to the top ranks and cups. I completed A-rank with at least one of my monsters but I fully expect the really tough matches to require a very tough monster resulting from several generations of trained and combined monsters.

I mainly Charlotte, but Darley's pretty fun too. I just suck at using her specials... one's really slow, another goes at a weird angle, one needs the opponent to be at like a very specific distance, and the last one is like point blank, which in this game is insanely dangerous.

@Joshknnd1982: Perhaps because there was never a true software rendering of the Rc8660 chipset? There's Monologue and the Soundblaster soundcard speech synthesizer, but Monologue is most definitely different from Double Talk, and the Soundblaster speech system is not really a software speech synthesizer, but was rather generated by the hardware of said soundcards. The other problem is that there are no real store rooms that actually preserve this hardware unfortunately. I have a Road Runner that is seemingly unable to pose as an actual! Doubletalk LT, never mind the fact it has the same serial connection. The Dectalk Express is still in use as is the Braille-n-Speak. It's not just speech synths that are hard to emulate and get into software form, think of the many consumer electronics that are just now being emulated through Mame.

Re: exercise sports fitness resources and equipment for the blind

2019-07-12 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Off-topic room : UltraLeetJ via Audiogames-reflector

Re: exercise sports fitness resources and equipment for the blind

so after a recent visit to the sports specialist we were both happy with the progress I had made! this was also very interesting, because she asked me how I was doing all of the exercises and so on in the gym, she asked how exactly I was training, how much weight I was carrying in some exercises, and whether I came to the gym all by myself. I was happy to answer all that because as I told her, I believed that just about anyone could do what I did--fast weight loss without really torturing yourself. For the record, 22 pounds in about 5 months sounds pleasing, no?And I finally reached the maximum anaerobic heart rate zone today as well. It was just exhilarating and I was able to hold that for about two minutes. Now, for stretching she suggested I get some of the elastic bands, has anyone worked with these? I presume most exercises of this kind require no sight because you are essentially just making the band do more force for a certain one...I admit though, that there are a few exercises that are hard to grasp if you cannot see and they are done with a weighted bar, similar to the one you use when doing a bench press. A tough one to understand was the french press that works your triceps. You lie facing up on your back and the idea is that your forearms are going to move up and down, lifting the bar. When they come down, you are supposed to bring them close yo your forehead almost touching it. But your elbows must try to remain stationary and not open during the downward movement,, and your wrists also should be aligned with your hand so you do not break your vital articulations! regarding google fit. It tried it and its more encouraging because you train based on goals that you set and its pretty good about detecting any kind of exercise you might make, even walking, in the background! Of course, cardioMez syncs to it so it gets the data from it and then collates it all in one big place. its actually pretty accessible too, and gives you very good stats on what you did and the stuff you achieved for a particular day, and so on. You can also add activities such as swimming, manually and it will estimate stats for you so try it out because its a nice app.As for any other specialized equipment, I have not gotten plans to buy more stuff at the moment, as I am happy with what I have so far. Probably, some running shoes would do, so if you have used any, post that here, I will be happy to hear your recommendations. Also, a slight correction: the bluetooth earpiece does let you change the media volume for music and stuff, accessibility one changes too, but sometimes it doesn't but that is a strange thing. Still, you can hear the announcements just fine from the app, I believe the developer has linked those to the multimedia volume anyway.I would love to eventually go and do outdoor things so not sure if any one has gotten anything on that matter. For one I know that the independent living site has got some beeping balls, though I bought the one that is used to play cricket and you can actually use it in a pool to play with friends! you just have to throw it a certain way, make it spin so that the rattles will still sound and it becomes actually quite easy to locate it on water. It doesn't sink, because its just pure hard plastic and that is fabulous. Of course, I should probably devise a way to make it softer, like wrap it in cloth or something. One last thing I got locally, was a microfiber towel, I think its about 10 by 10 inches, the size of a hand washing towel. Its just fantastic, especially because it has a strap you can put onto your wrist and just run with it. Its very absorbent and dries very fast, in about two hours after washing.

Re: Stop punishing developers trying to make their games accessible

Hi everyone, I'm Michelle, the author of the blog post.I wanted to post here to throw in my two cents. Ian Hamilton just linked me the AppleVis thread as well, so I'll be posting this over there, too.Because my post felt kind of negative, I didn't post it on Twitter or draw attention to it. It was a personal vent - I didn't think many people would care for it. There's no need to give the game a 5 star rating to counter the 1 star ones. The thought is much much appreciated, and thank you for that - but I'd feel much better if people just reviewed the game after they played it (once everyone can play it). Someone said it pretty perfectly further up in this threat. Manipulating ratings to counter manipulated ratings is not the solution. Also, I'm a little overwhelmed at the moment by the sheer amount of comments, emails and Twitter messages I have received. All of them positive, some offering insights or just trying to see things from all sides and so on. It's pretty awesome, and I made a point of showing around the 20+ positive comments on my blog post today. That definitely changed things, I can tell you that much.Regardless, even if not a single person had read my post - it wasn't my intention to make anyone worry that I'd be stopping my work on the game's accessibility. If there's any doubt in that regard, allow me to spell it out: This game will become accessible! I just don't know when.Aside from the big core gameplay mechanics, I'm fighting a million little things. Here is just one example: The text in some labels has words highlighted in a different color. The screen reader reads the color information out aloud, so currently you're hearing "Great job recruit, now hop onto your left bracket color equals hashtag f f c c 4 5 right bracket colony ship left bracket dash right bracket and fly to the next planet". This is a lesson for all of us. It's ironic how we will all slam each other quickly and yet when a topic like this comes up, everyone's the good guy now. As I scanned this topic I immediately picked out four names that were relentless when I was actively developing TDV. I'm glad a sighted mainstream dev has finally got your attention. Maybe it'll make you think next time before you go after a dev. Also, the game isn't doing poorly in terms of ratings--it was at a 4.8 when I checked.

The screen reader reads the color information out aloud, so currently your hearing "Great job recruit, now hop onto your left bracket color equals hashtag f f c c 4 5 right bracket colony ship left bracket dash right bracket and fly to the next planet". Not terribly difficult to fix, but I have a hundred of little things like that to iron out. I'll get through it all, in time.Last time, with Crafting Kingdom, it was the feedback of dozens of beta testers from this forum and others that made all the difference. Awsome, that was quick!Just another question, since many of the poker lobbys aren't that screen reader friendly, will it be something similar as it is now in the client, you choose the kind of game you would like to play through your client and not have to deal with the main poker client lobby itself, is this correct? Also, there is no way to find out who's turn it is? For example, if you press the shortcut to get information about a specific player, it is not possible to find out if it their turn in the game?

Whether the sounds are in the exe or not generally won't affect how hard they are to decrypt. Deter the laziest hackers, I guess. To do this in BGT, include the pack file like you would a script.#include "sounds.dat"Then, before you do anything with your sounds, set the sound storage to "*", to point to the included pack. Do not set it to the filename of the pack directly, iirc.    set_sound_storage("*");Iirc, that does it. Set the decryption key if you have one, unless you have another method of decrypting the sounds that doesn't put the key in an easily found part of RAM.

For the record, 22 pounds in about 5 months sounds pleasing, no?And I finally reached the maximum anaerobic hear rate zone today as well.

@14 "The solution to the problem is for some devs to provide a sort of accessibility framework to be easier for devs to produce." Already exists. Made by the person who made the post.@57 "I’m quite scared that this game will not be made accessible" You should be way more scared than that.So to be absolutely clear here, this is not an issue about an individual game. Michelle, the developer who posted that blog post, is also responsible for the unity accessibility plugin. When she talks about the company being anti accessibility the implications go way way beyond a single game. There was a tweet the other day about her being on an internal hackathon team buildijg a prototype of antive en-e fine Unity screenreader support. It is no exaggeration at all to say that things are at a turning point at the moment and I'd you lose Michelle then the blind accessibility effort will be set back by years. It's precisely this kind of "fuck developers" attitude that made me stop sending developers to this forum. To be blunt accessibility is not going to happen by itself. Outside of CVAA it's still a very tough sell, it's not like other industries where there is a legal imperative so you're reliant entirely on goodwill and winning hearts and minds. If you want it to happen you need to make it happen, and making it happen means encouraging success, not hating on your biggest allies for them not quite managing to drive change at the speed that you like.Standing by is not an option, if you want mainstream accessibility to become a reality you need to stop the people in the community who are sabotaging it, and throw every ounce of support behind your allies who are fighting to change things for the better. Like Michelle.

Re: Multi dimensional lists python

Dictionary items are stored arbitrarily, the only way to order them would be to sort the keys, assuming their labeled properly. Whereas lists are stored sequentially, which makes iterating over them both easier and reliable. In addition to this, you can also do a number of operations on lists that make manipulating the data much easier, like pop, slicing, inserting, sorting, etc. Thats also why their often used to store spacial data, so you can deterministically tell where X in the array is consistently. In the case of Numpy, which is awesome by the way, it allows you to do operations on entire arrays at once, such as:array1 = array1 * 5That little line would let you multiply every variable stored in the array by 5, and thats just one of many matrix manupulations you can do. Fun Fact: All image data is stored as a 3D array, width, height, and RGB color values.

I like the stat increases as they are, especially during growth and peak periods, when you use the training equipment and jack  up your stats real fast. But upthread, someone said if you want your monster to live for a long time, you have to use only the top six training methods. There's also food that increases stats that you can use, and competitions jack up things pretty well when you are high enough in rank.

Re: Stop punishing developers trying to make their games accessible

OK. Time for a little confession. I’m actually quite scared. I’m quite scared that this game will not be made accessible just because of what a few people have said. I know the impact that words can have on someone, but I really feel that it would be unfair for all of us to lose out on a phenomenal experience simply because they are demotivated by the opinions of 10 people. Why didn’t they come on this forum? Why didn’t they post anything here? Why just go to the App Store? I really would love to play this game. I quite like crafting kingdom, but it isn’t my cup of tea. Can anyone get into contact with the developer and ask them to post here? We need a status update.  Not necessarily on the progress of the accessibility, but rather on the progress of how things are going at the studio.

(There's already one up thre, for LibGDX development, but they use Java, and LibGDX isn't accessible with NVDA, so...) I can post my SDL game development book though. While it uses graphics, which I encourage any person wanting to develop a game to learn, it will give you the knowledge needed to develop a game using LibSDL2. You also have the OpenGL books I listed in the other books section.

I'm curious if we know of all monsters there are around...@716:I feel like winning the king cup should be the hardest thing in the game and thus actually hard to ackomplish. So if you're not able to win them without extensive help (e.g. those temporary stat boosters) I'm totally fine with that. So I wouldn't call that ill balanced. But I get your point and balance is a difficult issue. It all comes down to opinions there.Your idea giving legendaries a longer life resonates with me on some level. Ciara and bear are op enough as they are though. What I'd actually accept as a fun implementation would be a final age where you can't get anymore stat improvements but still get stuff done. That would help alot with exploring. I never explore more than once with my monsters and don't do it at all with most of them. It takes way to much of their life away. This way you still wouldn't have to op monsters but on the other hand could enjoy their company a little longer...

Re: GDE Game Development

Ok, Ive never seen this issue before but after a bit of digging, it seems to be a compatability issue regarding the visuals on windows. Do you mind telling me what OS you are using? is it an older OS?You can try running the program with different compatabiliy modes. by right clicking and going to proeprties. You might also find an option there called disable visual themes depending on your OS. if its there tick it. as from what i have read that seems to be the issue.

empiremud on windows?

so, I wanted to play a bit with empiremud in locale, just to fool around on my own with buildings and all when I'm not online. And I even got a copy of the latest empiremud, isn't it great? No, it isn't, cause it is an unix thing it seems, and I'm on Windows. Plus it's to be compiled, and since my knowledge of programming limits itself to "h what a nice bunch of letters and codes!" I wouldn't even know, more or less, where to start from...Is my dream of getting myself a windowsable copy of empiremud just a hopeless dream, to be trashed with my being a multimillionaire dream, or is there a solution? What am I to do?

Re: Warsim, text based randomly generated stratogy

I have an idea to make werebeasts more interesting. You might also add the feature I'm suggesting to hypothetical prefixes like "Seasonal," "periodic" or "lunar"Although it doesn't quite fit, and I'm not sure how easy this would be to program, but the power of the units of a creature race could change depending on the year in a periodic fashion. In a lot of fantasy, werecreatures are werecreatures all the time but are either more active or more powerful at the full moon. Although it doesn't quite fit for years, you could have their power shift in a rhythm over four years or so, corresponding to the year in question. For example, every year that is a multiple of four could be a "full moon" period" in which the werebeasts are significantly more powerful. Two years, presumably years 1 and 3 in the cycle) would represent quarter moon periods where the werebeasts would be of normal power, and year 2 would represent a new moon where the creatures would be exceptionally weak in terms of battle rating. You could have similar sorts of things for other sorts of patterns as well. Here are a couple that relate to time in some way.Winter: These races are far more powerful in the winter in the end-of-turn combat than normal, thus it would be easier to conquer them with mercenaries as they would be normal strength the rest of the time.2. Seasonal: you have a four-year schedule similar to what I suggested for werebeasts, but in addition, they  grow in populationg much more in "spring" and get far more wealth in "fall."lunar: same as werebeast, but for any race.solar: longer cycle of 23 years (sun goes through cycles of relative activity and inactivity every 23 years)Semi-centennial: Far more powerful in years that are divisible by 50.centennial: far more powerful in years divisible by 100, because the event is so rare, the bonus should make them a temporary nightmare.harvest: Population growth and power of troops depends on size of wealth they collect each year, possible increase in civilization level. Ritual breeder: population only rises in a certain number of years, but rises drastically in that year (sort of like the Vulcans from star trek)world-embracing: The civilization sends units to you, and if possible other groups, regardless of relationship or agreements, with the exception of extremely bad relationships such as -50 or lower)Isolationist: these groups will not send you units even if they are allied or vassals. They also get very mad at you by comparison if you accept one of their units in the refugee throne room encounter or hire them with your foreign mercenary hall.

Re: Stop punishing developers trying to make their games accessible

I'll just leave this here, phone permitting. The Copenhagen Interpretation of EthicsThe Copenhagen Interpretation of quantum mechanics says that you can have a particle spinning clockwise and counterclockwise at the same time – until you look at it, at which point it definitely becomes one or the other. The theory claims that observing reality fundamentally changes it.The Copenhagen Interpretation of Ethics says that when you observe or interact with a problem in any way, you can be blamed for it. At the very least, you are to blame for not doing more. Even if you don’t make the problem worse, even if you make it slightly better, the ethical burden of the problem falls on you as soon as you observe it. In particular, if you interact with a problem and benefit from it, you are a complete monster. I don’t subscribe to this school of thought, but it seems pretty popular. In 2010, New York randomly chose homeless applicants to participate in its Homebase program, and tracked those who were not allowed into the program as a control group. The program was helping as many people as it could, the only change was explicitly labeling a number of people it wasn’t helping as a “control group”. The response?“They should immediately stop this experiment,” said the Manhattan borough president, Scott M. Stringer. “The city shouldn’t be making guinea pigs out of its most vulnerable.”On March 11th, 2012, the vast majority of people did nothing to help homeless people. They were busy doing other things, many of them good and important things, but by and large not improving the well-being of homeless humans in any way. In particular, almost no one was doing anything for the homeless of Austin, Texas. BBH Labs was an exception – they outfitted 13 homeless volunteers with WiFi hotspots and asked them to offer WiFi to SXSW attendees in exchange for donations. In return, they would be paid $20 a day plus whatever attendees gave in donations. Each of these 13 volunteers chose this over all the other things they could have done that day, and benefited from it – not a vast improvement, but significantly more than the 0 improvement that they were getting from most people. The response?IT SOUNDS LIKE something out of a darkly satirical science-fiction dystopia. But it’s absolutely real — and a completely problematic treatment of a problem that otherwise probably wouldn’t be mentioned in any of the panels at South by Southwest Interactive. There wouldn’t be any scathing editorials if BBH Labs had just chosen to do nothing – but they did something helpful-but-not-maximally-helpful, and thus are open to judgment. There are times when it’s almost impossible to get a taxi – when there’s inclement weather, when a large event is getting out, or when it’s just a very busy day. Uber attempts to solve this problem by introducing surge pricing – charging more when demand outstrips supply. More money means more drivers willing to make the trip, means more rides available. Now instead of having no taxis at all, people can choose between an expensive taxi or no taxi at all – a marginal improvement. Needless to say, Uber has been repeatedly lambasted for doing something instead of leaving the even-worse status quo the way it was.Gender inequality is a persistent, if hard to quantify, problem. Last year I blogged about how amoral agents could save money and drive the wage gap down to 0 by offering slightly less-sexist wages – while including some caveats about how it was probably unrealistic and we wouldn’t see anything like that in reality. So of course less than a week after I wrote that Evan Thornley says :“There’s a great arbitrage there, we would give [women] more responsibility and a greater share of the rewards than they were likely to get anywhere else and that was still often relatively cheap to someone less good of a different gender.”While Mr Thornley said he wasn’t advocating that the gender pay gap should be perpetuated, he said it provided “an opportunity for forward thinking people”.A number of online commentators, as well as Australian start-up blogs, have since said Mr Thornley’s comments were sexist.Mr. Thornley improved on the status quo – but in the process he interacted the problem and was thus caught up in it. This is a strategy which, if widely embraced, would practically eliminate many forms of wage discrimination overnight simply by harnessing something we have way too much of already: greed. So of course it was denounced.Last year the city of Detroit began to crack down on unpaid water bills, and thousands of poor people suddenly faced the prospect of having their water shut off. The vast majority of people did nothing to help them whatsoever. PETA did offer conditional help: If a family went vegan for 30 days, PETA would pay off their water bill, and throw in a basket of vegan food to boot. This was strictly more helpful than what 99.9% of humanity

Re: some questions regarding call of duty black obs 4

Hi,I didn't know about changing the control scheme. Can someone describe how to do that?Which menu guide are people referring to?A good way to find out your level and stats is to download the Call of Duty Companion app for your phone. It isn't totally accessible, but it's good enough to give you your level etc.Which map are people playing and liking the most? I like classified, but it doesn't have a lot of the sounds for doors, etc. Ancient Evil seems pretty good, but I haven't spent a lot of time on that yet.My gamer tag on xbox is jfayre if anyone wants to add me.There is a guy on Youtube who goes by TJ The Blind Gamer who has posted a lot of zombies videos. He just recently did a video that describes some of the menus and how to change things like your special weapon etc.

sbyw minni rant

Hi. I reaally don't like to post things like this anymore, but there were recently problems on sbyw everyone should know about. For anyone wanting to cause drama now, stop reading. And i am gona kill this toppic after a few hours again, and i am gonna get banned on sbyw after pointing this out anyways, i think. So first of all 2 normal admins just got promoted to dev status. This is not so cool, in my opinion. But I can live with that. Now today, I was going to sbyw and made a joke. The joke was about the camera not beeing able to get through walls anymore, and reverbspaces gonne. I was saying, "this game gets more and more like 2dp, lol.", but didn't mend any thing serius with it, and after all, it's true. Then spiderman, as he does, made so a huge deal about it until everyone started making me bad on the chat. I left then(not because i wanted to go out, but because i was going to eat.). Then i came back online, and almost every online admin started kicking me, and even tried to make me look bad by sending me packets that semd like i was spam online and offline. And everyt time i complained, they just tried to get that away by making funn about my spelling(kits instead of kitts, and also something else really basic), and also they prompted me back to the admin someone when i was talking about someone does something, when they exactly knew what i mend.I don't want to say spiderman is a problem. He is a nice guy. But in my opinion, he is not so made for the admin or dev position. He likes to make deals about little jokes, and that can get anoying and can also cause serius problems like this one. THere was also a same situation, but not so serius, when i was asking for game ideas, and x0 said for fun "want to klone?", and spiderman kicked him and told him to stop while i knew it wasn't mend serius.End of minni rant.

Aardwolf Goals

Hi all,So, this is exactly what it says on the tin. It's a thread for discussing Aardwolf goals. Do any of you play this game? I'm getting back into it, and doing fairly well overall with a vampire warrior. But one of the things I've always wanted to do is to get to a lot of the goals. I think I had about 35% of them done at one point.Goal info is a bit thin on the ground, though, so that's what this thread is for.Feel free to ask questions, provide hints or even provide straight-up walkthroughs including syntax. I don't care.If you have any requests, let me know. I'm not the world's best quester, but I'm not bad either.
