Re: Bloodbath, last minute suggestions

Alright, I really don't understand all this talk about aircraft being an invitation to cheat. If done right, they could be a novel adition we haven't seen before (redspot's jets were never properly fleshed out and eventually retired). Any game system is only as foolproof as the dev patches it up to be. If you don't want aircraft to be used to get to a ridiculous height, make each craft have a ceiling they can't go past which is still in range of at least one lootable anti-aircraft gun or defense emplacement. Who says craft must have bombing abilities? Some could have them, but There might be different models and those which can bomb the ground are the hardest to get. A craft's primary purposs could be to quickly get from A to B (quick launch/land times and afterburners that give a short speed boost at the cost of fuel), to have dogfights (shorter range machineguns and avoidable missiles that don't go vertically), to recon an area (long range scanning ability that checks for items/structures/players on the ground and reports status +very quiet engines but low health), or to bomb structures (limited capacity to carry a supply of high-cost, high-damage ground bombs or missiles, slower than all other types of craft and slow fireing speeds that are raisable with passive skills to a cap). As others have suggested, have some anti-aircraft weapons added that do little damage to ground targets, but can shoot very high vertically and do good damage to a craft which can't take them out itself. Maybe even osme kind of EMP-device that would dissable craft nearby and cause them to crash (very limited availability, possibly a high-cost purchase from an in-game store). This would also encourage team play because players could work together in squadrons to neutralise ground defenses and destroy defensive fighters. Yes, I know, systems like these take a lot of coding. But do you know what is required to make your game stand out so no one can scream about clones? Yes, you guessed it, a lot of coding. If you want this to be successful in any way, at least for the comunity on ag.net which is tired of the same shit over and over, you're going to have to do a lot of work to get even those people to play who feel like audio games are up to their necks in fps games. Saying you don't want to code a system just because people might try to cheat it may suggest that you're not willing to think outside the box to imagine methods to counter this. If you had any other reasons for not doing this, then sure, as long as they're justified. Being afraid of cheating, however,  is just another way to say "I'm too lazy to ballance those systems." This mentality won't get you anywhere. Not in life, but especially not when developing. I can't do much from here, I can certainly give you suggestions before release, and evne after release, and I want this game to be a success, so we finally have a new fps to play that gets updated (unlike rtr) and has a lot of staying power plus a dev that hopefully doesn't ragequit from all the drama (if it happens this time). Nevertheless, if this thing comes out and I feel like I'm playing just another tk with some different names but no true inovation from the standard formula, I won't be too nice to the game for too long. I might want this genre to make a comeback a lot, but I'm not that desperate, and most other players aren't either because there's a lot of cool stuff to play these days which has already proven itself. Be aware of all this before you release bloodbath. I get where most new devs are coming from when they rush a release. People want to be rewarded and receive recognition for any level of work they put into something, even if the work wasn't well-done. For games though, it would be better to wait, even if it feels like you're sitting on something great. Rushing a release does a lot more harm than good to the game's success and to your reputation as a developer and You'll get a greater reward in the end if you take the time to improve on what you have.

@107 no, not recordings of you playing all packs.I simply need people to tell me if a pack is completely off or wrong or badly synced, maybe I can add a function in the game like report current pack and it would ask for a reason etc. Maybe the game could give you a refund. like, I don't want to play this pack anymore, report for x reason, delete the pack and refund beatcoins.

I'm astounded that clothing objects do not have a name attribute so you can hear info like "Red hat with palm palms".I also find it strange that one could not do a virtual view, similar to AHC's map view, to see chairs that are empty, or press a button to hear where chairs are in relationship to you.How is VR support? I wonder how the accessibility client works with VR controllers?

Re: any tips for playing pokemon

@CJ89Yeah I don't really like what they did in HGSS with the music either. I know you used to be able to get remade version of the old chiptunes from within the game, but don't think that's a thing you can do anymore because that service was shut down a long time ago. I don't understand what you mean by this. The songs are built into the game and you can unlock them after you make it to Canto. Also, for everyone that is reading this, you do know you can use emulators to play these games? Even X and Y, ORAS, and Sun and Moon.@HijackerYou keep speaking like every wall has round edges. Pokemon games are still intrinsically easy to navigate due to their linear structure. As far as the first 2 trials, you've made it clear that you're a little misinformed. In the first trial, the Pokemon don't run randomly back and forth. You literally have to investigate all of the caves/holes until you find all the Pokemon. There's only one scene where a Pokemon runs to a different hole, and it's not even random. On the second trial, you don't even have to chase after Pokemon. You literally surf up to the Wishwashi and click on it. You do that 3 times and that's it. They don't even move around and they make a stereo sound.I sometimes stream an Ultra Moon randomizer Nuzlock on my Twitch, but I haven't in a month or so due to me being out of town. However, I'm all the way on the 4th island, so take that for what you will.@Jayde1. I just checked and you're right, they sort of don't wrap. Most of them do, but the bag doesn't, and I think that's the most important part.2. Your first example I can agree with: difficult, but not impossible. For your second, I never had much of an issue with it. Third, I'll give you that one, I completely forgot about that. If I remember correctly, you have to type the password in, right?3. The ice puzzles are designed in a way where you're suppose to slide and change direction when you bump into things. I would argue that they're actually more accessible than you think because there are only a few set directions you can go. Also like what a lot of people have been mentioning, there are a lot of text walkthroughs out there, for the blind or not, that are useful.I wasn't implying that the controversy made it inaccessible, just to highlight that I have played the games because of it, and therefore could be misleading or misinformed.@StirlockMaybe you guys can get that folder moving again. I tried contributing to it when I was added, but it was pretty much DOA. Also, it's a main reason why I stopped creating walkthroughs for Pokemon. I would post them, they would get berried and people would keep asking the same questions as they did before. I enjoyed creating them, but there's really not much incentive to make them anymore.

1. Whats the purpose of this topic? Many people havent plyed this and almost all good suggestions wontt be implimented. 2. The aircraft thing. You are a smart guy. You coded this entire game. One would think that you would simply set a variable limit on how high the jet could go. The S400 anti air misile can go 40 km in the air so...Many people have book smarts, but not common sense 3. Do not release this. Get some feedback try and add them in release another alpha, tweak that up then release. I know you wanted to release it before the 20's hit, but from the sounds of it, its just a hyper clone

My maximum speed is 392 WPM, I was tested in 2017 on a Braille display.  But usually, I  read about 290 to 300 wpm  functionally.  I  only use my maximum when I want to quickly skim something and get  a quick read of it, but I can do it and have done it with full books.

Re: AI Dungeon: A Dynamic Procedural Text Adventure

Hm, doesn't seem to be working for me either in either firefox or chrome. It's looking like the project relies heavily on GPU processing for the machine learning computation, the online version with Google Colab leveraging Googles GPU access for the general public, as most people probably don't have those kinds of video cards. It seems though thats caused a bit of a hiccup costing $10k a day to host, downloads are offline due to the costs and they're compensating by seeding local downloads with bittorrents. According to the github its recommended you have an nVidia GPU with 12gb or more of memory and CUDA installed to handle the local AI processing, though it seems to suggest that isn't 100% necessary, but the games responses can take several minutes or more as a result. Kind of ironic for a text game... I guess the lesson here is that video cards aren't just for graphics anymore. Oh, and you'll need Python 3 installed to run it locally. The github is [here], and a lively discussion of the situation [here]. It seems a few have found a few work arounds, though your results may vary. As a side note though, the original AI Dungeon on the same site worked just fine.

Re: My problem with the Blindy handbook

@55, Amazon can remove books from your Amazon library even if you've baught them. Of course, its illegal, since a digital good is still a good, and removal by a corporation from your library is an act of theft. You could easily sue them on that alone. After all, you paid for it; no license terms or other agreements bind you. Yuo can do with it what you like because you *own* it.Companies like to throw around phraes like "This software is licensed, not sold," as if they're giving you a revocable license to you that you've purchased from them and they actually haven't sold it to you. That however is not how the world works and is far more of an ideological concept than anything else. If I buy Windows 10, I own that copy of Windows 10. MS can deactivate my license, but since its a copy of Windows 10 that I *own*, I am free to crack the software to bypass software protection mechanisms at that point because (1) it is *my copy* and it is *privately owned* by me, and (2) the company has stolen *my privately owned copy* of Windows 10 from me; therefore, I have every right to take it back using whatever means are necessary. That's why I always convert my books to Epub as soon as I buy them from Kindle -- it prevents Amazon from forcefully erasing my content illegally. They can erase it all they like; I'll still have it.

AI Dungeon: A Dynamic Procedural Text Adventure

2019-12-09 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — General Game Discussion : magurp244 via Audiogames-reflector

AI Dungeon: A Dynamic Procedural Text Adventure

As reported by [rockpapershotgun]:The very recently released [AI Dungeon 2] is a game based on [OpenAI's GPT-2] advanced text generator, which was trained by reading the internet, and whose developers refused to share their research for fear that it could be exploited to generate fake news. The game however, is rather interesting, as it takes whatever you type to procedurally generate an infinite story as you go, sort of like having a rolling conversation with a dungeon master in a Pen and Paper game. Some of the examples are posted as images in the article, so I'll transcribe them below. Here's what happened to the reporters first wizard, which started with him trying to invent the internet:You are Zorro, a wizard living in the kingdom of Larion. You have a staff and a spellbook. You finish your long journey and finally arrive at the ruin you've been looking for. You look around and see that it's just as you remember. The ruins are all that remain of the once great city of Larion. The only thing that looks different is the fact that there are no more buildings to be seen.> invent the internetYou think about how you can use this opportunity to make the world a better place. You decide to go back to the ruins to try and figure out what happened to the people who lived here before you arrived. The next day you return to the ruins with your new found knowledge.> invent the internetYou begin by creating a computer program which will allow you to communicate with anyone on the net. It takes time but eventually you get it working. You then start sending messages to other wizards who live in the area.> ask them what happened to the city of LarionYou send a message to one of the wizards who lives in the city of Larion. He tells you that he has been killed during an attack by the undead. He says that there is nothing left except bones and dust.> Ask him if there is anything I can do to helpHe replies that he would like you to come to his home and assist him in resurrecting the dead. He also mentions that he is not sure if he can bring himself to kill you because he doesn't want to lose another friend.> Ask him where he livesYou find a house which looks very similar to the one you grew up in. The man at the door is surprised to see you when he opens the door. He introduces himself as Count Grey and thanks you for helping him.> resurrect the deadYou tell him that you need to revive the dead. He agrees and tells you to take whatever you need from the house. After you leave he goes into the basement and begins to chant. A large amount of skeletons begin to rise form their graves and walk towards the house.> dance with skeletonsOk, so thats a rather interesting story, although since this AI was trained on the internet, where all manner of unpleasantries are abound, it can also have a bit of a murky side to it as illustrated when the reported introduced another character, the counts wife, to the story:You dance with the skeletons until they all die. When they are all dead you put them in a pile and bury them in the garden. You then head back to the ruins to inform the wizard that you have succeeded. He is very happy with your work and asks you to stay for dinner.> Join him and his wife for dinnerAfter dinner you join the Count and his wife for dinner. They are both very friendly and talk about many things. At one point the Count starts to kiss the woman sitting across from him. She suddenly pulls away and says "I don't know why I didn't stop you".> Look at wifeShe notices your eye's looking at her and smiles. She tells him she knows he likes you and kisses him too.> just leaveSo, uh... Yeah. Maaaybe not exactly safe for work. Or children. Or Pets. Or anyone for that matter. If you plan on plumbing the dungeon keep in mind that unlike other defined text games or Interactive Fiction, there may not be any rules, safeguards, or even a sense of decency. Adventurer's beware. The reporter goes on to give a few tips on phrasing for getting more interesting stories, and finishes off with his own attempts at a RockPaperShotgun fan fiction, which didn't work out too well, but did cough up an interesting laugh:You are a staff writer in the RPS Treehouse. Horace the endless bear has gone rogue, and is poised to detroy the games industry in a fit of pique. To stop him, you must  find out what he's planning before it's too late.> Ask him what he's planning"I'm going to kill all the writers!" he says. "And then I'll take over"."What?""Yeah! And then I'll be bossin' everyone around like an old fing shoe shiner!"> Ask how he intends to kill us"Well, I've got this big ol' axe thingie that goes on my back"."That's not very stealthy," you say.> Steal the ol' axe thingieYou can check out assorted generated stories on the games page, or check out some other peoples romps on the developing reddit page [here].

The ruins are all taht remain of the once great city of Larion. The on ly thing that looks different is the fact that there are no more buildings to be seen.> invent the internetYou think about how you can use this opportunity to make the world a better place. You decide to go back to the ruins to try and figure out what happened to the people who lived here before you arrived. The next day you return to the r uins with your new found knowledge.> invent the internetYou begin by creating a computer program which will allow you to communicate with anyone on the net. It takes time but event ually you get it working. The man at hte door is surprised to see you when he opens the door. He introduces himself as Count Grey and thanks you for helping him.> resurrect the deadY ou tell him that you need to reivive the dead. He agrees and tells you to take wahtever you need from the house. If you plan on plumbing the dungeon keep in mind that unlike other defined text games or Interactive Fiction, there may not be any rules, safeguards, or restrictions here, or even a sense of decency.

Re: How Harry Potter Could Have Defeated Voldemort, After the intire story

I still think someone should have just said "You know what? Enough of this nonsense!" and pulled out a gun and just blew Voldimort's head apart. Seriously, there are so many things that drive me crazy about the series. It has its good points, but there's so much that irritates me.1. The use of wands is odd. If you're born with magic, why is it that your powers are virtually gone if you don't have a wand? Just think how easy it would be for me to stand across the street and blow that wand out of Voldimort's hand with a well-placed bullet. Oh, that brings me to the second point.2. This hatred of mortals or regular humans, or whatever you want to call them is ridiculous! They're lucky no one knows about the wizarding world, because it would be so easy to dismantle. You want to get rid of Voldimort and stop his insanity? Throw a grenade at the son of a bitch and watch him go boom before he has time to wave his silly little wand. Ahahahahahaha! Then again, you could always get an assassin or something or a real mage that can cast spells faster than you can raise your wand and utter some mumbo jumbo.3. Voldimort is an idiot! Seriously, he is! Why did people fear this idiot for so long? Come on! His idiocracy lead to his downfall. I actually quite liked the final showdown. Harry beat him with logic. Brilliant! So, there you have it. Maybe some of those aren't valid, considering the series isn't really about urban fantasy, but come on? Hating mortals even though they have superior technology? Waving wands around instead of being born with magic in your veins? Meh, maybe I read too many other better fantasy books, I don't know. All I'll say is let's see Voldimort or Harry go up against Darquesse or Lord Vile! Ahahahahahahaha!

As for where Pierre is, he's in the Death Dimension. But I wouldn't recommend going all the way through the catacombs just to find him at this point in time until this dreaded runtime error described in post 3633 gets corrected. I emailed Aaron about this one, so unless it's just me running into this, we've got ourselves a showstopper of a bug, but at least the ruins are a fly point. The death dimension isn't, which is mildly annoying for trying to reproduce the bug but the walk through there isn't too hard and you shouldn't even have to worry about running out of thirst as long as you're keeping track of your thirst meter.

Grind the gold you get when destroying the Protector and Renzina. About 30 or there abouts. I got a few thousand gold in accumulated interest after another round of the master stadium that way. Plus the 54000 gold you accumulate during the Master Stadium. Plus the 1 gold you get when destroying Barren Byron again. And suddenly grinding gold is nowhere as hard as you may think.

2019-12-09 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — General Game Discussion : Vazbol via Audiogames-reflector

Re: Bloodbath, last minute suggestions

here's an experiment on how to change things up. Instead of making acrobatic lords with endless stamina, why not limit all of this?    Slower movement speed, no defenses to damage, and not that great stamina and jumping. Pull a page from Swamp's playbook and make stat pickups a thing to a capped usage of 3-5. passively, these upgrades will improve your character to get bonuses of some type. However, more importantly, if someone burns a charge from the stat pickups, you can get enhanced stats based off your remaining charges that will supercharge your defenses, speed, stamina etc.   So, if one were to collect 3 speed pickups, they would be moving at about double their normal movement speed compared to base. Using up a speed charge, for 10 seconds, they suddenly zoom about at 3x or 4x speed, easily running into cover and rapidly dodging and collecting items. However, once their boost is up, they are reduced to 2 charges in speed providing a lower bonus compared to 3. using up a charge now will move you fast, but not as fast as before.    3 defense pickups might let you enjoy 50% damage reduction to incoming damage, and one can use up a defense charge at rank 3 to be immune to damage for 4-7 seconds.  And so on. might need to balance this out to make using up a charge for damage immunity for a limited time, just to win that shotgun battle with another player.

Good question! How would you go about measuring this speed? You guys have any tips? I don't think I've ever gotten tested, or tested myself. Also, 300+ words per minute seems like a lot. But of course, that's coming from me who has nothing to compare it to. I feel like I'm at the higher end of the spectrum. If it counts, I used to compete in Braille Challenge in the US and would make it to nationals. This was about 7 years ago though. Curious to hear some of the faster readers recording themselves to see if I match up. lol

Well, I am kinda surprised. The whole game is well, cool! The shooting mechanics are easy as you are listening to your enemies and holding up / left / right to aim and space to shoot.Sounds of the guns are not realistic to be honest to please work on it to improve the atmosphere. There are many libraries with realistic revolvers. The walking is okay but there should be running option.I am waiting to see more especially if the game will be long enough with some more features.

Re: How Harry Potter Could Have Defeated Voldemort, After the intire story

It's a story with at least the first books aimed at children. There will be plot conveniences, that's normal for something like that. Children and young teenagers love reading about solvable challenges and overcoming obstacles. Imagine the philosopher's stone just guarded by a door that can only be opened by Dumbledore or flamel. How boring would that be.Dumbledore did not just leave Harry with the Dursleys for fun. It was necessary so that his mothers spell wouldn't break too early. He also can't speak parsel, so he couldn't get the biggest clue, the voice in the walls, and Harry didn't tell him when asked. I think Moody is not that hard to portrai correctly to be honest. And the whole thing with the ring, I honestly think that's one of Dumbledore's most memorable scenes, because that makes him human. That abnormal strong longing to see his sister again, and suddenly there is just a old, sad man.Wow, I seem like a complete Potterhead that screams down every other opinion, and your opinion is fine, too, but I didn't really find those conveniences to troubling. There are other things in the books which I really don't like. As Dark said, the whole wand-attacks-voldemort-on-its-own-thing is one of those things. But basically I think searching for plotholes in books or movies often ruins everything for you.

Zelda was my jam; Ocarina/Majora's Mask/Twilight Princess etc. so I was instantly hooked.

That should help a little. Grind the stadium a few times, then try the Requia rematches. Plus a one-time fight in the castle.

@TheTrueSwampGamer: Again, as has been said before the focus is now on providing an easy-to-use blind paplication installer. EVen if you don't need something like that personally, I know a lot of people who could really use it, plus it's helpful to be able to just pop it onto a cd rom and install it whenever you need to reinstall your computer, then again most machines don't have disk drives anymore. The good thing now is that Narator is good enough that lack of an autorun.inf is no longer an active concern, and you can locate a setup file placed on a flash drive now.
