Hi there. i don't think the app is that accessible.It is a great app, but the thing is that i don't get any feed back when loading a project or when i want to create a new project. it messes around with NVDA. else, i think that this is a rather good program.It is just a little clunkey with nvda for some or other reason. it works a little slow with nvda and I don't have a low end computer, so that can not be the issue.

Re: Manamon 2: Impressions Thread

My scintaplex got pest pincer in its 20s, I think not long after it became a scintaplex. As for the spelling and grammatical errors, I completeley agree. I got Paladin and Manamon 2, though I never did get Manamon 1, but I did play through some of the demo of it, and it is clearly an ongoing issue.I don't know much about coding, but if he was smart, couldn't he create a database for the code to access the different story bits, then code it to pull each part of the story from that database, therefore you only have to edit the database itself to edit the story errors? Like I said I'm a dummy when it comes to code, and I've only barely dabbled with VB6 years ago, but it seems logical that you don't necessarily have to have the story embedded in the code, and that doing so is a little sloppy.That said, I do enjoy the game and have gotten hours of entertainment out of it, same with Paladin, which I have beaten, but the story mistakes do detract from that a bit and are rather annoying.Sryth had this same problem, and for that game it was even worse because it was entirely text based. It was frought with mistakes all over the place, and while it was a good game overall, the mistakes greatly detracted from the story, as I said much more than Aaron's games since it wasn't an audio game, which has other features to make it totally immersive. That said, All game developers need to be going through their stuff and fixing it, You can't even argue that Sryth has some free content, because most of the mistakes are in AG only stuff.

Your game wont save until you prestige and start over, then some of your bonuses will carry over to the next play through, and you'll be able to get further and further with each successive session. I would plan each session out around when you are going to prestige so you can progress each time. The other thing is make sure you start on easy, then move to medium and hard when you have enough prestige bonuses and heirloom gear. If it gets too hard, go back to the previous difficulty for a while.Thanks, I’ll be sure to keep thiose tips in mind!

The developer made the game free for the holidays.  if you really want this game to continue, support it on Patreon.  it's costing them insane amounts of money to keep the game running for everybody, but just $5 a month can cover your gameplay for that month.  This isn't a big game studio or anything, just some college kid.I saw on Patreon that he wants to eventually create persistent worlds so there's a bit more continuity, and the game would presumably appear more like a text adventure/MUD.

I can't say exactly. Though you specifically asked for this not to be depressing, I can't help but think that my life would have taken an entirely different path, perhaps better or worse, had I been able to grind XP so to speak, by working in the standard jobs everyone starts in. You know, retail, fast food, those types of things. I wish I'd had those building blocks. But as for completely unrealistic things? Maybe a pilot, even a long-haul truck driver. Something that wouldn't allow me to stay in place for too long of a time. I know those are distinctly non female-centric jobs, but I think that, even if I'd been born with sight, my personality wouldn't allow for me to achieve contentedness for a long period of time, that I'd need the thrill of the new just as surely as a junkie needs their next fix. So, in other words, I'd be the complete opposite of what I am now.

Re: Best way to learn building gui?

2019-12-19 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Developers room : magurp244 via Audiogames-reflector

Re: Best way to learn building gui?

I'm aware the button doesn't work in the given example, it being a keyboard example after all, heh.Images are generally represented as squares of varying dimensions in width and height, so its more using geometry to position things in a 2D area with an x and y, rather than using geometric shapes, at least until you get into things like vertexes and polygons. Even seemingly non-square sprites or shapes are generally square and use filtering and transparency to give the illusion that they are not. For example enemies in the classic game Doom are all actually rectangles with images using transparency to remove their borders and appear non-square.The Geometric approach is rather straight forward really, lets say you create a window thats 640 by 480. The upper left of that window is 0,0, and the same applies when positioning images with regards to their upper left corner. If you place an image at 10,0 it will be positioned to the right of the very left side of the window. If you place the image at -10,0, depending on the images width, it will be placed to the left of the left border of the window, and part of it will be partially missing because its out of the windows bounds. The same applies to height, where if you were to put an image at 0,10, the image would move down from the top of the window, and if you put it at 0,-10 the image would move up out of view beyond the border of the window.Knowing this, you can use geometry to place images within the bounds of a window fairly easily. Lets say you have a button thats 32 pixels wide and 24 pixels high, and you want to place that button in the middle of the screen. You would take the width of the window, 640, and the height of the window, 480, and divide them by two. So, 320 by 240. But if you position the button at that point, it doesn't account for the buttons size, and make look off center because it will position it based on the buttons upper left corner, so you also need to subtract half the width and height of the button from the total to perfectly center the button in the middle of the screen. So (screen_width/2) - (button_width/2) = x, and (screen_height/2) - (button_height/2) = y, then you have a perfectly centered button.To illustrate this, and show how to bind a working button, here is another example:import wx

class MyForm(wx.Frame):
def __init__(self):
wx.Frame.__init__(self, None, wx.ID_ANY, title="Key Press Tutorial", size=(640,480))
#Add a panel so it looks correct on all platforms
panel = wx.Panel(self, wx.ID_ANY)
#create a visual button and label it ok
btn = wx.Button(panel, label="OK",pos=(0,0))
#set buttons position to center of frame
btn.SetPosition(((self.GetClientSize()[0]/2)-(btn.GetSize()[0]/2),(self.GetClientSize()[1]/2)-(btn.GetSize()[1]/2)))
#bind button to button press event
btn.Bind(wx.EVT_BUTTON, self.onBtnPress)

def onBtnPress(self, event):
print("button pressed!")

# Run the program
if __name__ == "__main__":
app = wx.PySimpleApp()
#load the frame class
frame = MyForm()
#show it so its visible and active
frame.Show()
app.MainLoop()Note that in this example, if you resize the window the button won't reposition itself in the new equivalent of center, using things like Sizers are best for things like that, or updating the buttons position when a resize event occurs, or just not letting the window be resizable.

Re: Best way to learn building gui?

So (screen_width/2) - (button_width/2) = x, and (screen_height/2) - (button_height/2) = y, then you have a perfectly centered button.To illustrate this, and show how to bind a working button, here is another example:import wx

class MyForm(wx.Frame):
def __init__(self):
wx.Frame.__init__(self, None, wx.ID_ANY, title="Key Press Tutorial", size=(640,480))
#Add a panel so it looks correct on all platforms
panel = wx.Panel(self, wx.ID_ANY)
#create a visual button and label it ok
btn = wx.Button(panel, label="OK",pos=(0,0))
#set buttons position to center of frame
btn.SetPosition(((self.GetClientSize()[0]/2)-(btn.GetSize()[0]/2),(self.GetClientSize()[1]/2)-(btn.GetSize()[1]/2)))
#bind button to button press event
btn.Bind(wx.EVT_BUTTON, self.onBtnPress)

def onBtnPress(self, event):
print("button pressed!")

# Run the program
if __name__ == "__main__":
app = wx.PySimpleApp()
#load the frame class
frame = MyForm()
#show it so its visible and active
frame.Show()
app.MainLoop()Note that in this example, if you resize the window the button won't reposition itself in the new equivalent of center, using things like Sizers are best for things like that, or updating the buttons position when a resize event occurs.

Re: Let's talk about windows seven end of life...

Comparing Apple to UAC is, forgive the horrible pun, comparing apples to oranges. Apple literally bars apps from running in the current build unless their devs pay Apple the $100 a year for notorization. UAC is technically effective against zeroday vulnerabilities and malicious code, but when you run damn near any game program such as those from BSC and any game that has direct control over the sound hardware and such, then you are going to definitely get UAC notifications. And unless you can whitelist certain programs to run permanently without UAC notifying yo, then the solution is to disable notifications. The copy-protection system for BSC's programs seemed to put license data in the c:\windows\system32 directory. I don't know which drm system is is, but the company that developed it must not have been thinking very rationally there - I mean I get hiding stuff from plain site to protect against piracy, but how could they not expect it to trigger the anti-viruses? Lol!The real way to stay secure, along with common sense of course, is to backup, backup your backups, and backup the backups of your backups. But seeing as that won't necessarily stop your data from being stolen, going the u2f route can really do wonders. I.e. a password manager that accepts logins via a u2f security key rather than a enterable master password, so that in the even theres a keystroke logger, they won't ever get that master password you typed or pasted into a password manager.As for Windows 7 end of life? Bout time. Windows 10 runs swimmingly on this machine, granted it has a 4.1ghz intel core i7 6core cpu that hyperthreads and 16gb of ram, but really as long as you aren't running windows 10 with 4gb of ram or less and are using an ssd, you're fine.

Re: Suggestions for Switching from iOS to Android (Pixel 4)

I'm a bit out of the loop, lol so I don't actually know how Flicktype works because it's been literal years since I used an iOS device. But I usually get on perfectly fine with Gboard, essentially just like touch typing on iOS. Not sure what you specifically mean by custom actions, because you do have ways to navigate by lines/headings/what have you.About email/communication, I can say this much.The gmail app works perfectly fine, though I don't use it often because I'm a webmail guy.Google's own messaging app allows you to pair to a computer via code, so you can type from a lapptop if you so wish. If you wanna do it normally, works fine too. There's also the new Windows 10 phone companion thing? But I haven't tried using that quite yet, so not sure. Facebook, Messenger and Whatsapp work as well. The Twitter app at last check doesn't.If you care about Discord? The Android version, unlike iOS last I heard, is basically completely accessible.HTH

@ty:Its interesting you say that, I've found browsing with commentary on the web to not be the nicest thing ever. Inconsistent navigation for things like headings, though I'm not sure in what world headings and landmarks are one in the same, Talkback. Also what do you mean Commentary has a flicktype keyboard? You can disable explore by touch and type with GBoard's predictive feature, hoping it'll get the right one, or you can use soft braille keyboard. Maybe I'm just not practiced enough at it but I still find braille screen keyboards (at least on Android) really awkward to type with. Haven't tried BSI as flicktype is fine when I'm on iOS.

Talkback has some lag problems while scrolling threw webpages, commentary doesn't, and I use that as my daily driver. The one thing I haven't figured out yet about commentary though is how to text edit, so I have to use talkback for that. Any more questions ask me and I'll try to answer. HTH

I won't need Braille Screen Input, however I have gotten quite attached to FlickType. Is there a similar replacement? How is the Android typing experience? I have also heard that without custom actions, TalkBack navigation is less usable than VoiceOver's. Is this accurate?

Re: Crazy Party: mini-games and card battle! (beta69)

It's kind of funny, most players wanted a way to detect walls. For me personally, it would be much more useful if I knew when I can go past a wall. However, CP minigames are usually pretty fast paced, so I can't say I often have enough time to focus on this wall sound anyways. It's useful for sure in some games, especially when you go only left and right avoiding things, previously you could be one step from the wall without realizing, so you move in one direction to avoid something only to bump into a wall. I'm definitely a fan of the VG storm navigation system for this, but it certainly would not work in CP in my opinion since maps are often too small and it would in general be very distracting.

Re: BrailleSense Polaris Vs. BrailleNoteTouch

honestly, half the issues people seem to have with the polaris I have never experienced. The battery seems to last quite a while for me, especially if I turn bluetooth and wifi off when i'm not using them. I've also had the polaris sitting for more than a day with full battery and it hasn't dropped that much. What I do is turn bluetooth and wifi off before I go to bed and only turn it on when I want to use it. Keep in mind that the polaris is like an Iphone or any other android phone in that it has to constantly search for notifications. That in and of itself can cause your battery to drain.

honestly, half the issues people seem to have with the polaris I have never experienced. The battery seems to last quite a while for me, especially if I turn bluetooth and wifi off when i'm not using them. I've also had the polaris sitting for more than a day with full battery and it hasn't dropped that much. What profession would you have pursued if you could see?

Okay, no beating around the bush, there are some vocations, that is actual paid jobs, that a blind person simply  cannot do due to lack of eyeballs, in the same way a paraplegic person cannot be a premier league footballer, or a totally deaf person cannot be a piano tuner.this is not about jobs that you would do if some git would give you the chance, or could do with some adaptations, or might do with some technological alterations, this is simply a "what if" topic meant for a little harmless speculation.Neither is it intended to make anyone depressed about what they're doing now, since as anyone knows, despite all the things persons of reduced visibility cannot! do, there are innumerable things one can! do, or find a way to do. Be as wild as you like, formula one racing driver, Astronaut,   calligrapher, this is not about what could be, but what you might  have wanted to do in some alternative reality assuming working optics and decisions worked out correctly. Myself, I have always loved the idea of being a paramedic. I'm from a very medical family, , and from an early age have had a keen interested in biology, especially biochemistry. I also love the idea of a job which is absolutely different everywhere and where you need to make instant decisions and adapt to situations, where each day you could be dealing with anything from a burn victim, to a premature baby, to a heart attack, and need to think on your feet and know what skills to put into play. it'd be a high pressure job undoubtedly, and one which would require me to deal with people, but it's one I've  liked the idea of.. Interestingly enough, both Mrs. Dark and my mum could see me as a higher level microsurgeon, perhaps an ocular or brain surgeon, since it requires fine motor control, incredible knowledge, and an aptitude with technology, particularly these days where the manipulators and virtual interfaces of surgical systems are almost like controls of aeroplanes.I like the idea, though I do confess I have always had a bit of an adrenaline thing, it's one reason I love stage performing so much, so whether I'd prefer surgery or emergency medicine I'm not sure exactly.

Re: Introducing Quorum Programming Language!

No problem. I think you could probably do it in most LL(k) grammars, off the top of my head, but adaptive LL * creates a parse forest, very efficiently. It's a neat little algorithm. That's the standard in Antlr nowadays and to my knowledge is the fastest of the current parse forest algorithms. It gives us a lot of flexibility at the parsing level and we definitely take advantage of it.

The sound itself is not at all offensive, though, and I find myself neutral on its inclusion.

Re: let's talk rise of skywalker

As we did for the past couple of years, my brother, his fiance, my lady and I will make a big christmas do of it, go somewhere nice for dinner and see the film.Unfortunately, mrs. Dark was right royally pissed at last Jedi. Turning Luke Skywalker into an arsehole, Snoke being a damp Squib, Ray continuing to be a succeedinator of the most extreme kind, half the rebellion getting killed not due to the overwhelming might of the first order, but through sheer stupidity, like trusting a guy you just met in prison, not sharing your battle plan with your troops, oh, and aside from the ridiculously silly universe breaking moments like space Leya or light speed kamikaze. Really the hole thing was pretty dreadful and we honestly came out rather annoyed, so we're not expecting much from this one. Force awakens was vanilla and basically a giant remake of a new hope with bigger lasers and more graphics, and while it was a little flat, it wasn't irritating. So, we're going to see the final film, more to say we've seen it than out of any major desire to see the plot from the last Jedi resolved, and I suppose since our expectations are pretty low, we  can't exactly be disappointed .

Hi all,So the time is pretty much upon us. Now, this topic may contain spoilers, but this first, initial, post will have my review but it will not have any plot spoilers.I had the chance to troop with my local 501st Garrison today, and see the film.My thoughts are that it's better than The Last Jedi. It feels like Star Wars. There's quite a few callbaks musically, and also a few interesting scenes with no music, but I will not, I repeat, not, be detailing those in this post at all. Also, there are answers and quite a lot of cameos, and the pacing, at times, is breakneck. Is it the best Star Wars film? Not quite. My favourites are still the originals.So, here's how I'd like this to work.If someone has seen the film, put your general thoughts first, then, when it's time for spoilers, please put a good warning in your post. Don't just say spoiler and launch into it, find a way to really forewarn others, whether that's the audyssey (s p o i l e r) method, or some other way.For those who haven't seen it, are you excited? Are you going to your local theatre/cinema, or are you going to wait?

Re: Is There a Way to Fix These Annoying IOS Glitches

Does anyone else have issues with their phone horribly lagging when using certain apps? I noticed that when I click something on the Amazon app, whether it's to search for something or access my account, my phone will buckle a little and no matter how much I swipe, it'll take three to four seconds until it responds. This goes on for about thirty seconds until it finally decides to figure itself out. I noticed this to a lesser extent in other apps like YouTube, but this is very frustrating.

When I cover my speaker it picks it up stronger, that's how the 7 is, same as when you hold your thumb over the speaker on a call, it echos.

scene 370, level 26, over 9000 health, max damage over 13000, 300 gold. And it's my first run. I think if you will be lucky, you can play endlessly! Achievments are good, but they creating some unbalance on high levels, i think.

Re: Best space strategy games?

I am trying to download New Horizons, but it's shunting me to google drives for some stupid reason.I did like Smugglers, think it was sucession, but it kept crashing sometimes when I fired missiles at other ships, and that miffed me. Might play it again, but will have to get it back since I somehow lost it at some point. Good game mostly though. I had to use my trackpad for most of the stuff, but you get used to that, and it's only for clicking, you use the arrows for menues, or that is what I can remember.

If not let me know. A thought on why you might be dying, the freezing effect also increases the amount of fatigue damage you take from actions.  You might be losing too much energy and falling asleep. If you do something that takes energy and you fall asleep in a scene with an enemy, you die automatically.EDIT: I found a reason why you might not be seeing those events after you die. I checked it in NVDA and its working. Full disclosure though, I didn't test in NVDA before the change to see if I was having the same issue.

Hello guys!I tested reading subtitles on pc with NVDA.The first time I put the code in the console it worked very well, but after choosing other content it stopped working completely, even reactivating subtitles several times, restarting NVDA and chrome, and even puting the code again.

Re: Introducing Quorum Programming Language!

Ethin,A few quick things:1. Modern context free grammar notations can definitely handle using = for both positions. This is easy in modern algorithms like Adaptive LL* and doesn't require anything special. If you want to confirm, I can send you the grammar. It's open source and all. It's pretty easy.2. I know it's counter intuitive that it's easier to understand/use = with both, but the studies are pretty clear on this point. Number #25 on this page gives methodological details if you want: http://web.cs.unlv.edu/stefika/publications.html. I didn't believe it either until the studies came back. In fact, earlier versions of Quorum used a variety of alternative syntax choices until we based them on data.
