@15:  That's basically what the Slay the Spire bosses are like.One thing I love about that game that I've never seen before is that you can see enemy intents during your turn.  If something intends to attack me during its turn, I know about it beforehand and can choose to counter it (or not.)You won't see specifics about what buffs or debuffs enemies intend to apply but since most of the monsters act on certain patterns it's not hard to figure out and it's not meant to be hard either.I'm not a huge fan of the active turn-based systems like A Dark Room because the games we have that use those systems are way too simplistic.  Your goal is to accumulate as many attacks as possible and fire them as soon as their bars fill.  At that point, I'd rather combat be automated and your character run all attacks when they're ready.I've never played the final fantasy games that use that system though and I imagine they did a far better job keeping it complex and engaging.Do you guys remember the Battle Arena iOS game?  That was a great example of a turn-based game that was complex, engaging and didn't put too much emphasis on having the right equipment for each fight.

@5:I know, accessing a website to read graphs is not convenient, but I think the implementation is way good.. Those braille dots in edit box indicate the direction of the graph, for example, if it's braille dot 3 5, then you know that it's going upwards, if it's 2 6, then it's going downwards. And dot 3 6, or 1 4, would indecate that the graph is more or less flatter.I think they will probably package the entire thing in a convenient package once the development is done up to a satisfactory level so we can use the software offline. And it's very responcive too, something I appreciate so much.

See, that's actually two questions, technically. More types usually means more weaknesses, defensively. For instance, undead+sound means you're double-weak to ghost instead of just being singly weak to it.However, from an offensive standpoint, having more types is good, particularly if you get good moves to cover it.This is why Grandlan makes me as annoyed as it does. This thing can seriously cover virtually every type with its moveset, and most other manamon can't even get -close to that.

Sorry for double posting, finally beatten mantis and got the true ending. For some reason, my halberd works well against him, but it took so many tries to take his portion of his health down. At first he’s at 200 health or so, then at a certain point he’s trying to retreat while swinging daggers at you.Another note, this fight is divided to multiple phases so you need a bunch of food and healing items after each encounter, especially at scripted sequences where he’ll cause massive amounts of damage to you.So having finally beatten the game, one thing to say is that every element of the game is awesome. From the righting, music, and the ambiance is amazing. But I have to aggree with stewie about the combat here, it seems to me that a weapon with the sweep ability is overpowered or something. I can kill most enemies with it quite easily, because the damage is too big for that

It's really problematic if you use the very wrong deck really. But the fencer is wrecked by whatever deck that relies on fixed unchangeable damage, like a deck that can poison (not attack by poison), or the blood deck which takes 1 hp away no matter what.

Kjsisco, colour-blindness is not a viable option. Boiling it down to "well we've all dealt with problem x" is silly. I've never been the target of racism before, and unless I go to a country where people of colour are the dominant class, I doubt I ever will. Sure, we've all had hardships, but to use this excuse as a way to stop singling out the problems is, in essence, saying that those problems don't exist. Let's just say I'm glad you have no say in how anything meaningful is run. You don't get over systemic racism by pretending it doesn't exist; you just don't. That also goes for sexism, classism, ableism, the whole nine yards.I confess that in the disability scenario explained by Turtlepower, I don't think I'd have gotten much out of it either. I see what the teacher was trying to do, but it seems a bit...misguided, I suppose. I still say that brown-eyes blue-eyes experiment sheds a lot of light on how this was done effectively, with race rather than disability, but it still worked.

I doubt they will. They've had since 8.51 to fix it and they haven't. There is a workaround though if you're willing to use Edge. From Edge, go to web.skype.com then install it as an app. It'll be there for you end store your data and open in edge. Done this way, you avoid the lag.

Hello all,it's honestly time to get this lag fixed. After dealing with it for so long, today I reported it to as many places as I possibly could.Just in case you don't know what I am talking about, Skype 8.54 was this horrible update that introduced the split view mode. Nothing against split view of course, but if you have it disabled, the app certainly has something against you. Any chat you open will most likely cause the app to become unresponsive for up to 15 seconds, during which you can  do nothing.First, I emailed both VFO and Nv access to see if they can somehow pass the issue to Microsoft as well. To be specific, it was rather tweeting NV Access, and they will try to pass it on, while I am still  waiting for a reply from VFO.Most important however, I submitted the report to the Microsoft disability user voice forum as well. It's important that if you face this issue, please upvote the idea so it can get as much attention as possible.It should be  fairly simple, all it should need is your email, as far as I am aware you don't even need a Microsoft account for this, though if you are using Skype you have one anyway.The link to the post itself is at https://microsoftaccessibility.uservoic … een-readerThanks for any help by upvoting the issue, and hopefully somebody will  finally fix this.

Well, I will say that it was poorly planned, with too few disabilities to fall back on, little opportunity for cooperation, and little prep work. What we had to do came only after we had gone through several workshops and prior exercises, so that we all were aware of the things we were in for. All of it was voluntary, and you could opt out and or call for a ride home at any time. Heck, I didnt eben have to draw a disability from the pile, so i didn't, but remembering that now, I feel like I really missed out on an opportunity for better understanding.I did say that this trip was by invitation only, so of course it is not for everyone, and i think that the planners were well aware of, and sensitive to whatever objections people might have had. You could even turn the invite down if you wanted to, so by no means was anyone forced to do anything they didn't want to. Sounds to me like your situation was abruptly forced upon you, and that was wrong, period. Having said that, though, I wouldn't trade mine for anything. I even ran into people from completely different schools and age groups that went to the same camp, and we all shared the same positive experience of growth and understanding.

Spoilers aheadTo free the prisoners at the sleep temple, after you deal with all the cartel goons in the dining haul, enter the stairwell and then enter the dormitory. Approach the sleeping man there, then you’ll be given an option to wake him up, pick his pockets, or stealthily kill him. Select kill then check his corpse. You’ll got the cell key for doing that.After getting the key, exit the dormitory through the map menu back to the stairs. Now enter the atrium and look around you. Enter the red door, pick anything that you want from here, then approach another door. Look around you after entering the room, then fight the dog. Once done, you’ll be at the torcher chamber. Examine the prisoners, then talk to them. You now have the option to release one of them, so choose that when the option is present.The first prisoner is the lord of highcastle himself. If you have the coded message in your inventory, now is your chance to give him that. Then you can rescue the second prisoner if you want to, or go straight to the black door and fight mantis.End spoilerAs for beating him, i mostly use a halberd in my playthrough, but when fighting him he always blocked my attack, preventing me to use the sweep ability. Am I missing something?

I'm far enough along that I'm ready to start working on some happy paths. I'm still a bit unclear on some assumptions, though, and want to check them.If I want to play music or background sound that doesn't participate in panning, spatialization, etc., I:Create a streaming generator originating at the file I want.Create a direct source and associate the streaming generator with it.At that point the audio should play, correct? This gives me the least control over my audio, but is ideal for playing music where I don't care as much about latency as I would for, say, SFX in response to actions. Accurate?If I want a panned/spatialized sound, or something with lower latency, I:Create a buffer linked to my sound.Create a buffer generator associated with the buffer.Associate the created buffer generator with the source3d or pan source.I assume I can combine these in all sorts of ways, some of which probably exhibit undesirable behaviors? I.e. plugging a streaming generator into a source3d will probably start slowly and behave poorly because the streaming generator seems to sacrifice latency for preventing underruns by buffering. @124, I'm glad you took something positive from your experience, but I have to say I found myself strongly reacting to your post with a resounding hell no!When I was in eighth grade, my English teacher attempted a similar experiment. Keep in mind that the school I attended at that time was primarily comprised of white staff and students, where differences of any kind, whether racial, due to a disability, or pretty much anything else, were not acceptable, to put it mildly. She, however, was one of the few people in that hellhole who could spell the word empathy, let alone know what it means. She did this with good intentions, and I have no clue how she got the rest of the teachers in our section to go along with it, but whatever.Each student had to choose a "disability" to live with for the day. This mostly consisted of people sticking earplugs in their ears and having to communicate by writing on paper. Note, however, that this was not enforced during lunchtime in the cafeteria. Also, since I didn't really understand until some time later that she was probably doing this for me, to try and make people more tolerant of my blindness, I boldly raised my hand on the day the assignment was given and asked, "I already have a real disability, do I have to fake another one?" To which she kind of chuckled and replied, "no one is exempt." So the day came and I plugged up my ears like a good girl along with everyone else. And, you know what? It didn't teach me a damn thing about what it's like to live with a hearing impairment. Perhaps that's something I never would have given much thought to at all if I hadn't met my partner, who is hearing impaired. In any case, afterwards, we had to write an essay about our experience. We were told we did not have to share our thoughts with the class, but I doubt anybody else learned much of anything from that silly foray into pseudo disability, either. I only found out after I wrote a scathing review of what I thought of her assignment in said essay that I had deeply hurt her feelings, and that she had been trying to help, however misguided she was. I felt bad about that at the time, but if I could go back, I'd react the same way over again.It's not even the fact that the whole thing was poorly planned. Wearing a blindfold, or earplugs, might scare a person senseless, depending on their personality, which is exactly what you don't want to do when introducing the concept of what it's like to live as a person with a disability. It would probably reinforce any misconceptions a person has in their mind about such things. Also, particularly with teenagers, you know they defied the rules at every turn, and, even if they endured it sullenly, they were just counting down the minutes until the day could end and they could go back to their "normal" lives.

I don't know why but I have never had any problem whatsoever with the fencer. The clock deck can get mean if you don't kill it fast, but generally I don't seem to have much issue with it.

Honestly, I'm not really sure which style of combat I prefer as they are all good in there own ways. From what I have experienced in some games like BK2 and BK3, I really do like the idea of real-time combat as it seems to be more realistic.Jade: that is a really cool boss battle idea. @48, that's highly unlikely. The battery 45 is talking about is the CMOS battery. Removing that only causes BIOS/UEFI firmware settings to not be saved and the messing up of your RTC. It has a few other functions, but those are really, really old, and no one accesses them anymore.

yeah, sure, but the thing is--the government really doesn't favor companies.  In fact that's the problem.  The government doesn't go "you're a small company, here's a pass".  it's the same for everyone.  So all the big companies that have money can use these systems because they have money, and all the small companies can't because they don't.  In this case both companies seem large enough that that difference probably doesn't matter, but if you actually want this to be better, the irony is that the government would actually have to explicitly favor companies.  Or abolish most of our IP law, whichever, but favoring companies is honestly much more likely to happen as a fix.I don't know where you got the idea that the government is going "Yay, Apple, our friend", but wherever it's from, they left you with some odd ideas about how shipping goods across international borders works.  Even personal mail to a friend just sometimes doesn't get there when you do that, it's not like domestic shipping, everything can and will get opened at random, and if there's even the tiniest chance that it's not legal they err on the side of "haha sorry, it'll take you 2 months to get this back".  In so far as apple can do something, it's that they have the resources to file all the right paperwork with all the right people, but frankly, if I knew a shipment was coming into the U.S. from somewhere and I had enough information I could block it if I didn't mind breaking the law, just by claiming it contains drugs or something.  It's really not hard to get a shipment seized.  There's a reason that when you order from Canada, shipping goes from $10 to $50 or more, and it's not that the cars have to travel further.

Nightmare seems like it doesn't bear out all that well, since doesn't it have a pretty high chance to fail?Also, I've never seen a competent arrow deck, but I got schooled pretty hard by a boss in the grand council. The Wind Lady, or whatever she's called; does this gimmick with Rising Wind, I think, which can do like 50-60 damage and doesn't actually require a ton of setup.

Games in the style of turf wars for iOS or Android?

Hi.For those of you who have no idea what turf wars is, it's basically your standard mobster type game. Rake in money, increase your gang, rake in money, upgrade equipment and what not. The cool thing was that you could claim turf as your own and the phone would use your GPS position and show real properties around you which you could claim for yourself, so, in escence, you could claim your naiborhood.Since the last ratings are from about 8 years go, I wonder if there are any other accessible games of this type around.Landlords 2 was a thing, it's basically a real locations monopoly, but it became inaccessible recently and if you progress abit, it becomes quite obviously pay to win.There was a transformers type game where you had to build up troups and claim buildings, but that game went offline almost 6 years ago.The rest I found, things like ingress and pokemon go are not accessible. Although, with the new screen recognition, I don't really know.So, do people have any tips on what other GPS games are there?Greetings Moritz.

For me at least, I don't think the question comes down to a preferred style, so much as a preferred level of engagement. There have been a lot of games that use turn based combat, from muds, to card games like slay the spire or crazy party, to entombed, the wastes, eamon, browser rpgs etc. Defender is probably correct that breed memorial is likely the closest we get to a true active time battle system, although a dark room and more recently untold are also good examples, and then of course you get games which, though turn based, still mess around with turn order and initiative to break up the you go, they go method of most combats, the way entombed or Puppet nightmares do, and then of course there are the action point based battles like smugglers.However, for me, what makes combat interesting is not necessarily any specific style, so much as my own engagement with that style, and how much attention I need to pay to what is going on. If I'm just spamming one spell or attack over and over, the combat is just not going to be interesting to me, no matter what style it is. heck, if I'm playing real time combat and just wailing away with the same weapon over and again, the combat is not going to hold my interest half as much, although we've had comparatively few real time combat rpgs in audiogame terms thus far.for me, an engaging combat system is simply one that requires me to actually consider what my enemy is doing and how I react to it, or one which requires me to witness a current situation, and play accordingly. if in a combat, I'm fighting a huge dragon, and it suddenly breathes fire and my actions do not change, then the combat hasn't engaged me. This is also why I personally am much less a fan of ridiculously complex equipment and stat balancing systems, since if essentially your going to win every combat before it happens based on the gear the player equips, then what is the point in having the combat at all, after all what is the point of fighting a huge fire breathing dragon if I know that I've already got a high enough dodge bonus for all of it's fire to miss me, so don't have to change what my party does in the least.So for me at least, I don't really mind what sort of combat a game employs, so long as it is engaging and actually requires me, the player to be an active part in the battle.

Still not sure why this has anything to do with favoring Apple.  They wouldn't have handled any other company differently.  if you don't understand that I recommend looking into how patent and trademark trolling works.This is typical.  Your stuff gets seized and then the government tells you your stuff was seized and then it's up to you to say "no actually" or whatever.  The government isn't going to let any shipments for anything through and then reach out to you after and say "hey, so you're kind of violating trademarks but here's a freebie, please don't do it again".  They're going to take your stuff and then you have to get in touch with CBB and appeal.  This is a regular part of doing international business irregardless of country, and I'm not even sure why it made it to the news.  If they'd already done a bunch of appealing and still got told no, then maybe it'd be newsworthy.

@hanif thanks, though I somehow managed to beat himI just completed the game. Overall this game was a lot of fun, the writing, atmosphere, and story are really well done. I'm definitely looking forward to any sequels. Also I really wish there was a new game plus option.the one downside to this game is the combat I think. It feels clunky and kind of unfair, it seems like weapons with sweep are pretty much required to beat certain encounters. The game also forces you into some combat encounters (such as the final boss if you want some of the endings, and there's one earlier on I'm forgetting). It feels like if you want to play a less combat oriented character you aren't going to get some of the endings, which may be intentional but I personally didn't like that aspect. I kind of hope the future games go with a more turn based tactical approach, it would fit the rest of the game's atmosphere a little better and allow for more complicated encounters with multiple enemies.A spoilery question for people who have completed the game follows:Is there a way to free the prisoners in the Sleep Temple? I just could not figure it out, I think I missed a few areas earlier on though so that might explain it.

@hanif thanks, though I somehow managed to beat himI just completed the game. Overall this game was a lot of fun, the writing, atmosphere, and story are really well done. I'm definitely looking forward to any sequels. Also I really wish there was a new game plus option.the one downside to this game is the combat I think. It feels clunky and kind of unfair, it seems like weapons with sweep are pretty much required to beat certain encounters. The game also forces you into some combat encounters (such as the final boss if you want some of the endings, and there's one earlier on I'm forgetting). It feels like if you want to play a less combat oriented character you aren't going to get some of the endings, which may be intentional but I personally didn't like that aspect. I kind of hope the future games go with a more turn based tactical approach, it would fit the rest of the game's atmosphere a little better and allow for more complicated encounters with multiple enemies.

Some odd music, some weird background noise, and some first-person narration. I confess it feels a little bit scattered and unfocused. Trailers should mean something.

Yeah, that's about the closest we have, I'd agree. And as you say, it's part side-scrolling as well.Kjsisco, that sort of game doesn't play itself. You're controlling one or more characters and have to determine how they react at any given time. As such, I'm not quite sure what you're on about.
