Re: 2 questions in BGT Create a map class, make an universal array, and when adding players to it don't forget implementing a pointer into the player's class to handle events properly.For different tiles some recomend using dictionaries but i preffer to use arrays, cause it dodge the fact that the player could get ot of the map limiths. Best way to handle communication between client and server? Hello, as the subject says, what are the best way to manage communication between client and server for games online?For tornado machine i coded the client to just act as an interpreter, to receive and interpret sounds and send commands. But, probably it was a big misstake cause the game lags too much.I was looking into road to rage source, and it seems that things work different there. Character management, interpretation, is all there. ANd about the server, it seems that are only used to update game statos for the players connected.There's another way to handle this? And about tornado machine's lag, i made it in bgt and everyone says that bgt netplay are slow. Probably this is the reason that the game lag too much?Sorry for my bad english, hope you understud. For a while we have an aircraft with a machinegun and a small chat system, but we need fix some bugs before releasing it due to the fact that the bug may crash the entire server, and on some cases the game. Talking about my upcomming game Tornado machine Everything starts with a game called ace Combat.I was talking with Haramir when them commented about a game that his friend was playing, and i think: hmm, why not creating a game like this? Seems a good idea.For about 1 year i programmed some projects in bgt, just for practisse, that i never released to the public. I planned to make it secretly, but when Haramir asked for sounds, i noticed that some people become interested on the game.Now, i come with a list of questions that i want to know from you:-How you wish to test the game? I preffer on a unic server that the players may interact with others, but i fear that the distance between countries may lag the data transmission a bit.What you think about have your game information such weapons and achievements saved at a file that the game sends to the server? The advantage is that you don't need to worry about connecting to different servers if i release the server program when the game becomes st able.Well, thats all. Some questions about bgt Hi, i have some questions about bgt. I want to make a game with events and pusles, butim not sure if what im doing is correctly. Im searching asolution to do it withouth using hundreds and thousands of ifs.I ve made a class called event, that are within a array on the map class, and when somethin happen, i call a functionat the map called check events, that call another function called check for each event at the array with auser data string has parameter for both functions.About using itens on another like a key on the door or a missing lever at somewhere, when it happens i call the check events function with on_use has parameter using both handled objects andtarget object has parameters separated by commas. And to define what will happen are define at a string that the thingsare separated by slash and the parameters of then are separated by commas too. Anyone knows a another way about doing it? A example, imagining that the item class hold a string about the name and the descryption of a item, in this case you should try:for(uint x=0;xinventory.length();x++) {menu.add_item_tts(inventory[x].name);}however, if you want keep this system that separates each types of item by cession you will have to define a variable holding the object type, on this case a unsigned int.
