You can also press T to read the screen. There are some CC option screens that aren't read as you move around and change things, but you can always press T to check what's there. A bit annoying, but it works.

It's not just the footstep function, the entire pathfinder is broken.Update: Scratch that, I had to change the base game folder to crystal-clear, I guess it didn't recognize the new version as the right game. Pathfinder is fine.

An argument could also be made that in a normal game of scrabble, you can see where on the board someone is placing new letters in real time, whereas right now there's no way for RS to communicate that information. Coordinates would even that playing field. I disagree with having coordinates read first on a blank square but second on a filled square. That's inconsistent and would get confusing. I would have them always read last, as they aren't always needed.

Yeah, for some reason it doesn't disable the code until you reload the game. I like how Crystal does that much better, because you can disable cheats to make it stop, and it also won't let you walk through people and items.

Not gonna lie, I ended up just using a walk through walls cheat. Could I have figured it out? Probably, but it would've taken more time than I was willing to commit to it. Even then, I had to be careful not to hit any of the arrows, because they'd send me through walls and keep trying to move, getting me stuck.

Oh,  that really is unfortunate. The only other emmulator I've seen with Lua support is Desmume, which is a DS emmulator. You can play generation 4 and 5 games on it, but not 3.

The more things that get changed, the more likely data will have to shift to accomodate, and that's why you start seeing mislabelled maps in Anniversary Crystal, footstep sounds breaking and such. That's why my alteration to Crystal still works perfectly with the scripts, because all it ever does is replace a piece of data with another piece of the same type. There aren't any new maps, items, events going on. If I knew about Perfect Crystal or if it existed back then I probably would've just played it instead, because it just does things similar to what mine does plus a few things like fixing glitches.I came across another small issue, which I guess would've been an issue in the original PCA script too, it just never actually popped up. Because you can only enable or disable all HMs in pathfinder, it can try to send you on a path you can't take if there are multiple paths to get to something which require different HMs (example: Vermilion Gym). I was playing Yellow and it kept trying to direct me across the water, because I had no way to tell the scripts I have Cut but not Surf. Again, I've done this enough times in the past that I just did a bit of exploring to find the cut tree, but I can see this being extremely confusing for someone who's never played this game before. If you could add a way to enable and disable individual HM moves for pathfinder, that would be helpful.

Sure, someone like me who knows the game well will know based on what's on the map, but someone new won't. I guess it's a choice between small advantage and small disadvantage, though, because there's not really a way to simmulate the scripts knowing which direction stairs go when they're on screen but not knowing before we've seen them. So I can appreciate the imperfect choices you had.Is generation 3 access a likely thing? I thought I saw someone say a long time ago that it wouldn't be possible. I certainly hope it is, though. Maybe I can finally do something I never actually managed when I was 15, and get all gold symbols in the Battle Frontier. I ended up 2 short.

I would have figured that you could see that a staircase goes up or down, so maybe it doesn't say "You're now on floor 3", but you know that you've taken 2 staircases up from the first floor, because the graphic of the staircase was that of steps going up. That isn't information the scripts are able to convey. Or do they all look the same?

Finally got around to checking these scripts out, and I'm impressed. You've made several improvements on PCA, most notably properly recognizing things like bookshelves and headbutt trees. Recognizing your and your rival's name and using them in map names like "Loxias's house" is a nice touch.I have one small issue. In original PCA, maps with multiple floors like caves were labelled with which floor or section you're on, but yours aren't. It just says Dept Store, Team Rocket HQ, etc. I could very easily imagine people getting lost trying to figure out where they're going, as maps and warps aren't labelled with which section they're taking you to. Whirl Islands in particular is huge, confusing and would be not at all fun to navigate like this. Consider reviving those map names from Tyler's scripts.

Ratata actually does get Flame Wheel as an egg move. Has ever since the original Gold and Silver. So that's actually nothing it couldn't already do before. Though admittedly it learning how to do it on its own is a little goofy.I actually like when boss fights throw moves like that at you. I want to have to work for them a little. Though I'm surprised Iron Tail did so much. It may be 100 power but Onix has pretty terrible attack.If you think that's a balance issue, you're not going to enjoy Crystal Clear. I've been messing around with it and it's pretty fun, but holy freaking hell it's easy to unbalance the game because while trainer and gym fights scale, wild Pokemon levels don't. I ran into a level 32 Dugtrio when my team was still only about level 10, and thought I was doomed right there. Until the opposite happened - I chucked a ball because WTF else am I going to do? And I caught it. So instead of an instant loss, I ended up with 1 badge and a level 32 Dugtrio. They said not scaling wild Pokemon was a deliberate design choice. I for one think it's the game's biggest mistake. Granted I have no idea what kind of limitations they might have had to accept with it.

I found the new value to make footstep sounds work in Crystal Clear. It's 0x2994. For Anniversary Crystal it's 0x2923. CTRL-F for RAM_FOOTSTEP_FUNCTION in PCA\lua\lang\en\ram.lua and just change the value after the =.

Regarding taking extra steps to interact with something, that's probably an NPC that moves. Lots of them move a few steps here and there, so as you pathfind it's directing you to where it currently is, but it might have taken a couple of steps once you get there.The enhanced crystal is very close to the base game in terms of source. No code was changed at all, all it does is replace one value with another of the same type. Not sure why there are problems with sound, but it's the emmulator or the computer, not the ROM. That or someone tried to add additional patches to it or something.

I haven't come across anything that could really screw you out of being able to complete something this time around. Of course you could accidentally sell or release something you can't get again, but that just means you can't use that thing, not that you can't progress. I did notice that some specific equipment without which you can't unlock something much, much later in the game can't be sold, where other equipment can be. So it looks like he's avoided the engagement ring trap this time around, which is a good decision.

The only time you'd use physical attacks with him is if you're facing something that Electric Shock and later Superspark can't touch, in which case you're a thousand times better off just switching to something else, because even with perfect attack, his Standard moves aren't going to do a lot. Jiminar is a quick sweeper against anything that is vulnerable to Electric, and that's about it. That doesn't mean he's useless, though, because Water and Air types are everywhere.

Ok, so about Resister. When it says moves you're doubly weak to, that means both of your types are weak to it. Example Leafowl is Plant and Air, which are both weak to Ice. So Resister would cut the damage of an Ice move used against you. But it would not cut the damage of a Flame move, because only one of your types is weak to Flame. There's an item you can get later, I want to say for filling a certain amount of your Manapedia, called Resister Advance, which does cut all super effective damage, although by a smaller amount.

The amusing thing is, it's still probably far easier to beat the game that way, because even if it messes around for several  turns, all it takes is one turn not messing around to destroy the opponent, meanwhile the opponent won't be doing jack to you. Unless this works differently from Pokemon and they never actually attack, whereas Pokemon do attack sometimes. Haven't actually tried, because I enjoy putting together and raising a team and playing properly.

I'd love, love, love a music player feature. Plenty of games have this. Releasing it as an outright soundtrack might come with some legal issues, especially since some of the songs were sourced from somewhere else. But enabling us to manually play the music within the game itself would be awesome.

SomeSpoilers390: Doving is quite good. It transforms reasonably early, a little after level 20 I think, and hits hard and is very fast. That ability might be tricky though. Mine had a different ability, so I didn't have to worry about it, but if you remember to check the gender of what you're fighting, and switch if it's opposite, you should be ok. Yours will hit even harder than mine against opponents of the same gender.391: I'm not getting this problem.

I'm emailing Aaron with this as well, but I just found a serious bug. Credits do not save. I noticed that I have no credits, despite knowing that I'd gotten some. Still, I figured I might just not have saved or something. So I played another round of Hangmon and got 40 credits. They were there when I talked to the guy in the YGC shop. But when I saved and reloaded my file, I had 0 credits again.Just a warning not to use your tokens for now, unless you can get enough credits for what you want to buy in one go.

Just had something really strange happen. I was joining a trade room with my friend, the handshake failed, and when I disconnected, I spoke to the receptionist to try again and it got caught in a loop at the point when they asked "How can I help you?" It was like a skipping record, it played the question sound and said "How can I help" over and over and over until I closed the game. Luckily I didn't lose anything because the game saves. The trade did work the second time.

Hey Aaron, I've found a minor bug with the Tonic items. It says my Ribignus would gain -1 TP if I use a Silver Tonic on it. It doesn't actually let me, so I figure it's just an off by 1 error in the display. In case it helps, my Ribignus is level 30 and has gotten 146 train points so far.

Spoilers:Found another hidden item on the way back from that detour to get the Rare Jewel. It's a Premium Mananet, which is basically reusable until it succeeds at catching something. Damn skippy. Also got a Sweet Tonic for Manapedia progress, which is like a really weak Life Tonic. Worth 2000 if I sell it, which I just might end up doing.Neat new feature: You can create a training point distribution plan for each of your Manamon. You input the percentage of training points you'd like to go to each stat, then you can select to train based on your plan. If you want something to be a quick physical sweeper, for instance, you could tell it to allocate 50% to strength and 50% to speed. If you want balanced defense, you could split it between HP, defense and magic defense 34/33/33, 50/25/25, or whatever configuration you like.

Slight spoilers:@Imaaginatrix: This is when you want to start applying buffs out of battle, if you haven't before. I encourage you to have all your casters learn the skills that raise their armor and protect from critical hits. Alexia's Favor of the Divine is a good one to have up too, as well as anyone with Stealth. Apply whatever you can outside of combat so you can survive and then hit back hard. Eventually as you level it'll get a bit easier again, I got to the point where I was one-shotting dragons with Flurry, though admittedly my 165 rated goblin mystic scythe helped with that...

HighLevelSpoilersSo I was attempting to do the laid down the law quest, and as it turns out, wolves aren't as rare at high level as I thought they were, as packs of them often accompany dark wizards. What does seem to have vanished are random encounter bandits, which I need for the first part of that quest. It's all tree kin, wolves and wizards, and wyverns. I spent a good 45 minutes running around just killing stuff trying to get bandits to appear, and none showed up. Does anyone know if there's a place I can kill bandits for this quest, or does being over level 50 make it impossible?

I've got a bit of a question. How exactly do Master Endurance/focus work? It says you regenerate during combat, but so far as I can tell, my mana and/or stamina aren't going up between turns if I use a skill that turn which doesn't use any, and when I do use some up, I lose the exact amount the skill uses, suggesting it's not regenning any.

So a while back, somebody put together a keyboard file for JAWS so it could be used to play Manamon. It just occurred to me that I could adapt it for AHC, so I did. Thanks for the clarification about the damage bonus affects, Joseph. So to be clear, weapons with the affect only boost damage using that weapon, while rings or other equipment boost all damage of that type, whether done by magic or a weapon? I assume the weapon charging skills, like Blessed Weapon only affect weapon attacks, whereas something like Lightning Shield impacts any lightning damage. Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Re 1005: The message for the effect on the sword and on the rings is exactly the same, is there anywhere that states that their effects work differently? I do have chain lightning rings on Gwen for lightning damage, too. But if those boost spells whereas the weapon boosts melee hits, that would be good to know.Also, possibly related to this, I founda  fire gem and a lightning gem. Are these used for anything?

Yeah, I've never used physical attacks with my casters, unless I see a mortally wounded opponent that I just don't want to spend mana to finish off. I'd much rather give them weapons that boost the damage type of some of their spells, like blade of the storm mage or whatever.Uh oh, you can mess quests up permanently? That sounds like a potential bug.

Slight spoilers ahead, ctrl F for abc to skip them.995: How did you complete that quest without finding the hut? either you forgot or you somehow skipped some steps. Either way, you might want to email support outlining what you did.abcI did notice the affects on the daggers. My impression is that taking at least half off my damage capability isn't worth having a chance to poison or whatever, especially when there are poison items I could use to get the same effect, but I'll have to play around with dual wielding to raise the chances. I know accuracy drops if you do that, but perhaps enough strength or dexterity will help with that.

So I've been trying to avoid this thread out of a desire not to be spoiled, but i'd like to congratulate the team on a game well created. I just completed the main story for the first time. I've still got a few side quests open, but I think it's time to lift the veil and allow myself to read posts in here, as I'm sure there are many tips and tricks to discover and share.So my first question, apologies if it's already been discussed. Do daggers do anything special? I've noticed that their weapon ratings are a lot lower than other weapons available at the same time. My first thought was "Oh, they must do extra damage with Sneak Attack and other thief attack skills", but after playing around with different weapons, it really doesn't feel like they do. I do a lot more damage Sneak Attacking or Finessing with huge warhammers than I do with daggers. I do know heavier weapons slow you down, but there are plenty of higher rated weapons that aren't super heavy, like the elven longsword. Do daggers have a purpose I haven't figured out?

So I haven't played this in a long while, but this discussion about Remullion got me curious, so I did some messing around.First, I bred my newly transformed Steelion with my Redonkeus freshly caught in the wild. Resulting Remullion had Battlecry, Steel Horn and Tri Kick.I saw that some peoples' Remullion knew Slash, so I levelled Steelion until it learned Slash, deleted a random move for it, like Focus or something. Still got Battlecry, Steel Horn and Tri Kick.I tried it again, except this time I deleted Steel Horn when Steelion learned Slash. Result: Battlecry, Slash and Tri Kick.That confirmed that it's based off moves your Manamon know. Then I noticed something else. Steel Horn and later Slash was the first move in my Steelion's list, and Tri Kick was first for Redonkeus. So I reset to get Steel Horn back on Steelion, and swapped Redonkeus's moves around so Power Kick was first. Result: Battlecry, steel Horn and Power Kick!<
 /p>Yep, I think we know the determining factor now.I then noticed my Steelion also knows Battlecry. At this point I was in the mood to be silly and see just how foolproof this mechanic was. Turns out, it really doesn't look twice at what you throw at it. The resulting Remullion knew Battlecry, Power Kick and... Battlecry. Yup.Lastly, I remembered that I possess a Dimbranch Club or whatever that thing's called, the thing that lets any Manamon learn Batter Branch. Y'all know where this is going, right?I equipped that to Redonkeus, swapped the order of moves and bred. Result: Battlecry, Batter Branch and Battlecry. I challenge you to make a weirder moveset on a level 1 Remullion. Actually, this file doesn't have a Mt. Cinder Torch yet, so I bet you can.

So this thread looks pretty dead, not sure if I'll get any answers here, but does anyone know if there's any way to remove the roughly 1/4 of a second lag from the emulator? It's not so bad when playing Crystal access, since there are sounds for movement and pathfinder and stuff, but playing other Pokémon games is proving to be a pain. Thanks to everything being delayed, the wall bump sounds aren't keeping up with my fingers, so it's hard to navigate properly. If anyone else around here has more experience with emulators than I do and knows how to remedy this, that'd be great.

Magic Dragon is a physical move, so it won't be powered up by Manatize. It's a decent move, but definitely not what I was hoping for out of a move learned at level 100 by supposedly the creator of the world.

You don't have to defeat Seinarus in the postgame to unlock the upgraded master stadium, I know because I didn't know you could battle him when I first got the unlock. I think it's just having defeated the other two and capturing Zeogneoss, Irroadium, and possibly Tabalus.

I usually alternate my training. I found if I exclusively trained attack/special attack first, I'd start getting outsped and taking more damage than I'd like, but if I train only speed first, I don't do enough damage and also take too much in return because it took too long to KO. I found doing a bit of both along the way struck a good balance. For the slower, bulkier types though, I usually did train their attacking stat first. A bit of extra hp isn't as much of a difference maker as a bit of speed. In the long run I of course do want it and it matters, but 10 hp is nothing compared to 10 speed in the mid-game.

Also, perhaps it was just incidental luck for me, but I found the Manamon in the sections of sewer farther along the fields towards Orianda were slightly higher level. Under Hazeldale I found a lot of level 29 and 30, but farther in it was all level 31 and 32. If you want that slight exp bump, you could always wait until you get to that section to grind. You get the full amount of exp as long as your Manamon is not 10 or more levels above the foe (forget if 10 itself starts to dent it, or if it starts at 11 level difference).

Having that be configurable might make it too good, but a building full of randomly generated tamers that scale to your highest level or something would be a nice challenge and definitely aid in training.

Faylen, that's right, your best bet is just to fight feral Manamon until your new team members can fight for themselves. My advice is to find the area they are the most effective in that's the closest level to them. For example, if you're trying to raise an electric type, the Promolders and to a lesser extent the Zintrabats may pose trouble, the former is immune to electric and knows quake, the latter is weak to electric but is fast, and if it outspeeds you, can hurt a lot with Aura Master. In contrast, the Tangeria Tower Front doesn't have any earth types except for the very rare Lonar, which appears in a pack of 3 anyway so you will have someone else out who can deal with it. It also has air types who don't have a move that can decimate you. By training there you might be able to make fewer trips to a hotel, and time spent running back is time spent not getting exp. That's just an example, anyway. I think my team is usually roughly level 40 at that 
 point, so you're otherwise doing well. You just need to level up your newcomers so you have a greater variety of types who level match the tamers.

That Fetid torrent move you proposed looks a little bit overpowered, did you forget to add a drawback of some kind? Definitely agree with some types desiring more moves though. It's ok for not all Manamon to be equal, but I think it makes for a better game if a whole type isn't gimped. Of course, some types like poison are probably more designed for passive strategies, like poisoning the foe and evading attacks, but a lot of them don't even do that too well.

One thing I noticed about the jungle, and about several areas actually, is that Manamon appear in certain parts of it. I mean in some cases it's obvious, Reef and Fyngon only appear in water for instance, but especially in the jungle, at the beginning it was a lot of Pythor and Trumar, the watery parts had Torto and Friggle, and I ran into quite a few hydrake and Evillion in some sections deeper in. You can probably differentiate based on the sound of the footsteps, but once I found one Hydrake, staying in that particular spot allowed me to find another quite quickly. Of course, that could just be luck too, but yeah.As for the gold rewards, I can think of a couple of things.1. One of you probably had a golden medal on one of your mons, the other may not have.2. The shadow children fights that scale probably also have scaling gold rewards. I know Pokémon's money rewards were autocalculated based on the type of trainer and their highest level, and I doubt Aaron would have gone through the trouble of manually setting every single tamer's gold reward, so he probably took a similar approach.
