I'm having some pretty serious issues even downloading the game. I click on the link and go to download, naturally. It then just stalls at 0% in the chrome downloads for... well, ever so far. I've even moved the download location to an external drive to try and simplify the process, but no luck so far.

It seems I'm the one known for posting about muds periodically. So, I'll throw another one out there.This is actually an old mud that finally reopened. It used to be a favourite of mine, and I have dreamed about it reappearing for a long time. Apparently, I wasn't the only one and enough emails reached the former owner to cause it to be revitalized. And thus, here we are.The mud is called Konquest, and is likely a mud that will appeal to a variety of players.A quick summation of what is offered:Everything is player constructed aside from the small starting outpost, a bit like empire mud. Players must hunt, harvest and otherwise gather resources to construct armour, weapons and other equipment, with recipes being dropped randomly that give instructions for the development of powerful magical items. Additionally, players can construct lairs of their own, which are like old-school roguelike dungeons that can be raided by other players. These l
 airs can be guarded with any creature found in the wilderness, stocked with hoards of treasure to age and become more powerful, laced with traps, secret exits and so on, and given shops for the mercantile minded.Guilds, guildhalls and clans are also possible, though expensive and noone has yet managed to make one. We're working on it though.Another point of interest is that Konquest has extremely fast and nontraditional combat. Anyone who is familiar with godwars2 will recognize some of the mechanics. Combat is purely manual, with various actions given by what one is wielding, the skills taken and magical items worn. We have everything from poleaxes to rapiers to scourges to 6 different forms of magic. You can pair them in any combination you like, with leathers, chain, heavy armour and so on. Additionally, equipment and character setups can be reset and retrained freely at any time. Indeed, there are quick commands to move between skillsets in the main outpost, mea
 ning players often switch from a high damage build to a tanky build based on where they're fighting.The mud has autogenerated dungeons, such as vampire crypts, tombs and the like. Apparently I'm the one that started this thread? Goody for me.The issue is that currently the mud is more or less dead. I logged on recently to see how things were going, and it's still a great place. But without the player base to support it, there's less appeal.Though interestingly, as the player base died, it seems the world went from booming empires and trade to post-apocalyptic wasteland. Seriously, the number of destroyed ruins infested by monkeys and land plots slowly being reclaimed by jungle is incredible. If nothing else, it's a cool look at what happens to a world when it dies...

Two things of note:First, 7th plane isn't really meant to be a traditional mud. The short descs are there mostly because most people use brief when playing a mud anyway. Lyianc's mentality was that there's enough information when you need it, and no fluff otherwise. Not everyone's cup of tea, but that's the idea.Secondly to Dark:if you're looking for a crafting mud, come try coffeemud. It has the most extensive crafting system I know of within the mud genre. For instance, if you kill a deer you can butcher it and will get meat, leather, horns and bones. The meat can be cooked in a variety of ways, the bones scrimshawed into furniture, weapons, and so on, the horns carved, the blood drank or even added to stews, the leather sewed and formed into any number of items. The crafting classes, namely artisan, sailor and gaoler get a pretty extraordinary number of crafting skills, each coming with a large set of items that can be made
 . It has everything from blacksmithing to carpentry to Taxidermy to excavation to costuming and so on and so on.

Ok, a few things. Firsly, no, you can contact players directly by typing a slash, then there names. For instance, /sevrior hi. Secondly, it depends. There is usually at least 1 or 2 people on, and occasionally up to 6 or 7 recently. Thirdly, there's not really a card limit, but anything above 60 is going to cause you problems. Generally you want to build a deck around some kind of useful or powerful combination or set of combinations. If you have more than 60 cards however, drawing those combinations or the cards needed to establish a firm presence on the field is going to be difficult at best.

Ok, so the tournament idea is still a thing. Seeing I and at least one other player intend to be dead drunk tomorrow, I'd recommend it not happen tomorrow.That being said, we could aim for Wednesday Thursday perhaps? Evenings to make it easy for people.For now, let's get a listing of names that would be interested in competing. I'll record them down, find out schedules, player level and so on. I'll also get a skype group running so that we can communicate easily. We can discuss tournament rules, prizes and so on once we know the amount of people entering.

Whilst  I do agree that I wish there was some means of renovating the game, 300 cards is enough to make some interesting combinations, and personally I find that having a small selection forces you to be very creative after your first couple decks. Unfortunately he does not respond to messages either on this forum or on his own, so I'm struggling to find a way to replicate this without building it from the ground up. Dark:Just to clarify, youre sure it was the same Empire mud that is referenced here? The Empire mud codebase is public, and so there are a lot of clones of it out there. This one is the original and in active development, but there are a great number of empire muds.Still, if it was the same mud, your experience sounds unusual. I would strongly recommend giving it another try, as I havent seen much of that attitude in the time Ive been here.

Hi:Thats right. Most channels require a / first. Not all, but most. So /newbie will work, as will /ooc. You can type /history and channel name to review the last messages on said channel. For instnace: /hist newbie.Im off and on during the night, depending on what time I end up going to bed, so if I dont respond but am on, its probably because Im afk. Keep trying though, there are plenty of other players online, and if I see a question Ill answer.

Im not positive this is in the right category: it might need to be moved. In the meantime though...  Im sure some people here have heard of the Empire mud codebase. For those of you that have, the new version is out and has a very impressive player base with a new set of features.  For those who havent. Empire mud is a game that doesnt follow the idea of most muds. You do play a single character of course, but its not so much hack and slash. Imagine a browser game like Travian or another empire builder, except on a mud. Players are dropped into the middle of the wilderness and from there, you begin to specialize in skills and build yourself a city. When I say wilderness, I mean it. You need a hand axe to chop wood? Chip two rocks together and make one. Need a weapon? Chip down an axeblade and make a spearhead, carve a handle and make a spear. Eventually this leads to a variety of character types, including the warl
 ord, the empire designer who build everything from the grannaries to the barracks to the sorcery towers, and even less common types such as the assassin, the druid and the artisan, who crafts the empires weapons, armor and tools.  More specifically, this mud caters very, very much to those here who enjoy crafting, building cities, empires, and so on. It also has rp for those with that bent, as well as diplomatic relations, trade and of course war. Theres pvp here for those that want it, exploration and just about everything in between.  Empire mud is in beta mode, and just went up about a month ago. Despite this, the player base is already around 50, and empires are springing up. The mud was not created with any preexisting cities, so everything has been built by players. On that note, the economy is not fixed, and makes for some very interesting commerce. You can mint coins, but a hated enemy might not put any value on them. You can t
 rade in solid gold bars, but whos to say how much theyre worth?Finally, this mud is very screen reader friendly. I myself was a part of the accessibility design decisions in the early Alpha stage, and so can attest that the mud staff here is very accessibility conscious.  Come give the mud a try. I have to admit, the game baffles me a bit. When I try to create a new character, I seem to have the unpleasant experience of exploding about once every 5 minutes. At least, thats what it sounds like.Also, is there a reason I cant move more than 2 or 3 steps in a row without toppling over?

I am looking at the multiplayer server list at the moment. I see 3 servers up, aside from the default.Two of these are closed or behind firewalls. The other... Im not sure how to join a game. When I select this server, it lists my name and a second users name, followed by a multiplayer session, map name and a timestamp.
