The site shouldn't be a problem... downloads should work.@nuno, the documentation doesn't explain things clearly. It only lists the keyboard commands. It doesn't tell you to pick things up in order to give them to people. Text file documentation is a thing of the past... the game should have tutorial messages for different mechanics. Some people might be willing to figure it out by explanation, but for important things like giving items to people for quests and healing allies, this isn't something that should take experimentation to figure out. lol

Yeah, you're going to have to explain that quest more... he doesn't tell me anything, just to kill enemies and trade the items I collect with him. And I can't figure out what I need to give to him because enemies don't stop spawning. The lack of explanation in this game is one of its downsides, imo.And speaking of no explanation, is there a way to heal my allies? I haven't found one yet.

Ah yeah.. the western mausoleum is tricky. Again too easy to get swarmed, but there are definitely some good things in there. Do you know exactly how many cripts are in there? And how does potential work? I only found one way to get 200 points of it, but it also seems to be inaccurate. All the skills require 100 points to level up one time, but when I level up, it automatically uses all 200 points. How do I get more? Can't seem to do so by killing enemies.

You have to find the exit from that area. Unfortunately, I don't have the exact coordinates, but it's somewhere in along the northern part of the map. They spawn infinitely and unfortunately, killing them doesn't really make a difference. Pity, as this would be a great area to grind in.

This happens with any online game, whether it's for the blind or a mainstream one. Go east to find what? I found the mausoleum in the west, but keep dying. lol. Still, can you suggest to the developer at least a way to find out what your next objective is? This would suck if I loaded my game after a couple weks and couldn't remember what I was supposed to do... And what school? There's no school like that I can find...

And this is where some sort of objective indicator, at least for the main story, would be real handy... I just loaded my game, but can't figure out where to proceed. There are plains on every side of the city where I can go kill enemies. But no indicator as to where I should go, and no way to make extra money that I can find.

The clipboard output crashes the game when battling. At least on my computer it does. Also, qingong isn't a big enough game changer to make fights easier. especially when you're surrounded and can't figure out which way to move. I'd rather save up my internal energy for skills. And I missed two of the flowers? Gotta go back for those... again, essential items like that shouldn't be left behind without any indication at all. But that, again, is a difference of opinion. Thanks for mentioning the clipboard output though and for that tip. And when you saythere are four flowers, are you talking about the village or the city... I only found three out of three. The radar is helpful, and I do use it. But there's nowhere to check progress, your next objective, or side quests you've picked up. And as far as I can tell, items like wine and food don't get picked up by the scan. It also goes through walls when you are in the cities which makes it a little confusing. I understand the appeal for hiding certain items because that does make it more fun, but hidden items should be secondary things that you don't need like animal meat. Things that you need like healing items and money should be visible. And yes, I know the idea is to explore carefully. But you will still miss things when exploring carefully, and I think the things you miss shouldn't be things that really hinder your progress. I also think inventory management should be done better, as it's pretty much the same system in Battle of Armageddon. But I'm guessing theyuse a similar engine. Right now, although this isn't a detailed review, I'd give this game a solid 6.5/10, because I definitely think it's decent and has a lot of potential,and the developer seems like he's going to continue updating it. An autoupdate system would be nice,too, especially for us who don't have the luxury of using QQ. Or if the developer created and was part of a skype group for the game so we can at least talk to him the same way as in the QQ group.

The answer, in short is that it depends on whether you're willing to use translation software and also put up with gameplay designs that are, as with a couple of other Chinese games, less modern. This game reminds me of what a lot of early action rpgs would've been like. Combat is super simple, there are no proper combat physics and it's unforgiving to the point where you'd have to sink tons of coins to continue if it was an arcade game. Exploration is a bit of a chore. But for me personally? I'm enjoying it while being frustrated at the same time.. in short, much of the same feelings I had toward Battle of Armageddon. But I love Chinese martial arts adventures. IF someone was willing to program for me and let me design something, I'd do a remake of this game because the story and world are fantastic. The gameplay just has to be improved. But again, this is a difference in opinion. Most Chinese players seem satisfied.

People who keep saying that assume there are just going to be people who have the knowledge and knowhow to offer a translation, in a market where most developers are litterally only one person and where few people are bilingual enough. Yes, you have to pay $30. But it's $30 for a game that wasn't designed to be in English to begin with, because it's developed in a country where noone speaks the language on a daily basis. Translation software is simply an alternative workaround. I would like anyone who says $30 entitles them to a translation to come up with an idea of who to get to translate, how they would go about translating an entire game on their own, etc.People pay for imported mainstream games all the time on consoles, which don't even support translation software. This isn't any different.

You have to translate.@4, this game is more of an action rpg. But it still definitely resembles other games like Battle of Armageddon, though the engine is apparently different. There are design elements that are very familiar, at least in the demo. Dreamland could've been a fantastic game that ate up hours if the gameplay wasn't so shallow and if I didn't have to pay to keep up.

While I wouldn't trash the developers forthe choice, it's definitely a frustrating one. I don't know of any other game that requires non latin characters.. every other game I've played so far allows any character the player wants, latin or non latin. And yes, you can find ways to translitterate an english word into chinese if you can't input it yourself. But this creates another barrier of entry for new players. And I don't understand why this particular problem has to wait. It seems like an easy enough fix to me.

Cool. I do hope that in the game, the documentation will be updated with feature releases and changes detailed. This is the problem with every Chinese game I've played. New things are added, and help files or documentation is never updated to reflect that so the user either doesn't know what the new features are in the first place, or how they work.

Cool. I'll probably try it out once it does come out. But this game has some of the same things I don't like about BOA.. namely poor inventory management and items that ave no indication which, while it may be enjoyable to some, feels a little frustrating. Would it be possible for your character to know what direction something is in compared to you instead of just how many steps away it is? Could one of the two people who can use QQ here suggst it to the developer? I'd love to come on board with this but QQ is still giving me trouble.

Nice recording! Definitely missed the house at the beginning area.. I do hope navigation gets improved as well as right now having to follow the walls like that is a little frustrating. I liked Battle of Armageddon's a little better. And that reminds me.. is this game made in the same engine?

I've discovered everything that was mentioned here about being in the right places to help deal with enemies especially after playing the demo. But I still think this game needs a good combo system and a block button. But pohai and Nuno are right. Right now, the combat in this game is based on being in the right location and being familiar with the map. I think sound prompts will help a lot, but I wish there was a way to know the range of each weapon. And I didn't know about the v key... thanks Pohai!

Yep. Played the demo a couple more times today, and I definitely hope combat improves. Or at least the amount of money you can gain up to that point so you can buy more items... the combat is still the only thing keeping me from liking this game. This is becoming a trend for me with the chinese games. I love the writing and story, presentation as well. But combat is either too simplistic unbalanced, or sometimes both. I love more about this game than not, unfortunately the one thing I don't like is a major part of it. Combat in this game does not feel like you are controlling a skilled swordsman. But I'm not giving up on it yet... because I'm always open. The writing in this story are fantastic.Also... Nuno, send me a skype or what'sapp message please.

The gun sounds are quite good. But the melee sound effects, presumably because this is still only a concept demo, could be better. Punches use the same two or three sounds, and they sound very plasticky. And I definitely would not say they're the best I've ever heard in an audio game. But again, this is a concept demo, and I'm hoping some of the kickstarter money will be investment in higher quality sounds.

I actually think this game has a lot of potential, if the combat is improved on and done ight. I love the story and really want to see where it goes, but the combat is just too clunky. Your enemies have a very unfair speed advantage, and even after using all of your skills and being drained of magical energy, you can't beat them because they attack too fast. And what kind of martial artist doesn't know how to block or dodge? I know there are items like armour that will increase your defense and dodge stats. But even a basic block button should be pretty much expected. Doesn't help that because arenas are so small, you can't even run far enough from an enemy to use a healing item.@nuno, maybe record a few fights to show people exactly how it's supposed to be passable.. because I think a lot of people are going to be frustrated with the combat. And I really, really want to like this game.

Ading more cues doesn't really improve combat... but I'll see how I feel about it when I actually play with the improvements. And leaving the tavern does nothing. lol I've gone in, gotten the wine, and bought chicken from the barman and eaten it. There's nothing else to interact with, and leaving through both exits do nothing.

I don't really expect great combat from audio games in general. Most developers don't seem to care if combat is actually enjoyable or satisfying.I just got to yunyang city and zhang zhong says we should go to the tavern. But I can't find anything to do in there... am I missing something? In the first tavern sitting down at one of the tables progressed the story. further.Also, it might be good to ask the developer to implement a way to remind you what your next objective is so if you get o a location and do some exploring you can get a reminder of what you are actually supposed to do. I do like this game's atmosphere and story so far, and the music is fantastic. Reminds me of all the dramas I used to watch growing up.

Combat in this game is a bit clunky at the moment. I'm at the first battle after leaving the village with the bandits, and it's another case of mash space as much as you can. It's hard to tell if I'm even hitting anything or how successful I am before I'm cut down.

I do hope things get improved on. This is the first Chinese offline game since Battle of Armageddon that's actually captivated me and made me want to keep playing it. I hope the combat system sees improvements... as right now it's too simplistic for a game in the wuxia genre. I'm just glad translation software is one barrier I don't have to deal with.

On the contrary. I think if there's enough left over, voiced cutscenes would definitely fit well in a game like this. Shank, for all its crappy voice acting, was a game that was enhanced by the voiced scenes instead of just scrolling dialogue which would've made it a different game. Same with Bladed fury, another favourite of mine in this genre.

Well yes, yu can. Air combos are a thing, just not in beat em ups.My point in stating that things should be simple to start is that this game's combat system needs to get the basics right before experimenting with al the extras that cheeseWheel is talking about. And the reason for the delay timing in those games is, remember, because theyare actual attacks, and each attack takes time to execute because visually, animations take frames. The problem is how to give that kind of similar response purely with audio, without animations. How to time two jabs, a hook, and a spinning kick, for example. And most blind people have never performed that combination in real life let alone do it regularly as part of training so aren't aware of how fast it would realistically be. It's easier just to ave one generic atack, like this game or adventure at C:, that just comes out as fast as you can mash the attack button.

All there really needs is to be one combo. Press space up to four times, and each one is a different attack. The last one, whatever the number of blows is, is always a heavy attack that has blowback or knockdown. Or the attack button in conjunction with the arrow keys. The key is to not overcomplicate it. Final fight had two attacks. A standard combo and a jumping attack. there was also one special move that would clear the screen but also drain a little of your health. That litterally was it... and that formula is still used today. The challenge was with enemies that had different attack patterns and trying to anticipate for all the different moving pieces with a very simple set up of your own. But the right amount of complexity can be good too. But it's quality over quantity, for sure.As for close combat stuff... I mean, this is close quarters combat. But there would never be a choking mechanic unless it was a stealth section. You can't choke out one guy when there are five others trying to get on your back. lol I do like the idea with slitting throats though, or some sort of well timed instakill. But knives don't even exist in the concept demo.

@127. I'm not in favour of a light edium heavy system because that kind of complexity is seen mostly in fighting games. Beat em ups really only need one button, maybe two at best... but again, that's just imo. No need for anything other than a basic block, either. Hybrids that try and combine complexity of fighting games and beat em ups are usually more style than substance... and I like your suggestionabout the rage meter, other than te fact that jumping will decrease it. That's franklyunnecessary... and I lso think that a really good player, in point of fact, will be able to keep rage mode activated for the duration of a whole area if they're skilled enough and if the rage system is properly done.
