Re: Looking for a mixer

@Jack put up the Smoke signal and I came. The q802 has been the mixer I use for all audio recording and streaming on BSG.It has two XLR inputs with optional 48V phantom, and two sets of stereo inputs with channel strips. Each channel strip has a 3 band EQ, gain, and balance. The XLR strips have pre amp and compression as well.It has a real time monitor, analog out and also USB connection. The USB can only be used for one way traffic though, either in or out. There's a bunch of stuff happening on the right side of the board too with RCA connections but I've never used that. I also spilled an entire cup of espresso inside of the mixer during a drunken moment watching UFC, but it's been working for over a year post espresso. There's more stuff the mixer can do, but it isn't anything I have needed to use so I never explored it more, that and the espresso bit above. The stereo ins can be used for your Alexa, phone, whatever, you just need a break out cable(s) for the 1/8 stereo jacks. It is important to realize when they say something like 8 channel input, that actually means 4 stereo inputs. so don't expect all the inputs, divide it by two first.I don't get the issue people have with others hearing everything on your PC, if that is the case then don't send everything on your PC to the mixer, that is simple to do, and built into windows 10. Better yet use VAC and reaper projects to monitor different sources in real time and send them out to different outputs. I was going to buy an ASIO mixer for streams, but then realized I could spend no additional money and just use reaper, that's how I do a voices only stream.I get everything I need out of my Q802, but I also get creative with reaper to make it do what I need it to. That being said, ASIO really is probably the way to go, but you don't have to spend $500 on a mixer unless you are already a paid professional...at least personally I wouldn't pay that for a mixer.

Re: a call to all vapers

To all future mothers, let post26 be exhibit A in why you should hug your kids enough. If you don't there's no telling what they might grow up to be.As to vaping, if you are using a 0.6 ohm coil that is right on the edge of what manufacturers are using for both DL and MTL vaping. Is your tank a MTL, or direct lung hit? Do you hit it like a cigarette, or are you directly inhaling the vapor like taking a big breath. If it is like a cigarette then you can step up nicotine if your 6% is not enough. By the way 6% means that it is 12mg liquid, which means there is 12mg of nicotine in 1ml of liquid. If you are using a direct lung sub ohm tank then that 6% is not good.I cannot stress this enough, and anyone who vapes really needs to understand this. You cannot put any juice in any tank. Low nicotine juices are for lung hitting and sub ohm vaping, high nicotine juices (above 3% or 6mg) are for MTL vaping. If you put a high nicotine liquid in a sub ohm tank and lung hit you will make yourself very sick. Nicotine is perfectly fine, but like with everything, only if you use it correctly. Just imagine taking a handful of caffeine pills when you are use to drinking 1 cup of coffee a day, you are going to make yourself sick as hell.As to nicotine salts, I personally never suggest people use them to start. They have no throat hit, and they come in nicotine levels that are way too high. You can use a 18mg free base juice and it will have a really big satisfying throat hit. That is what I used, but with a 50mg nicotine salt there was no hit, and I'd get all dizzy after just a few puffs. If you smoked a lot, and now want to vape at a comparable level until you get use to it, then a high 50mg liquid is not good. You are going to be sucking down a lot of nicotine and it won't be good. You'll probably end up getting more addicted which would be silly. As to the mechanics of how a vape works. It is a coil. Imagine you have a piece of wire and you want to coil it into the shape of a spring. That spring is the coil which is attached to your tank's positive and negative. There are different wires, gauges, and coil types to produce different effects. For example my coil of choice is called a tri core clapton. It is 3 thin gauge wires forming a core, then that is wrapped with an even thinner gauge wire like a guitar string would be. That is then used to make a coil. The coil is then stuffed with organic cotton, this would be like running a shoe lace through a small spring. The liquid then wicks up the cotton and into the coil. The vape mod then runs electricity through the coil which heats it up and vaporizes the juice. The cotton doesn't burn because it is drenched in vape liquid. There are different specifics depending on what type of tank, but that is the general principle. That doesn't even go into resistance, voltage, and wattage but that is the general way of it.With DIY vaping, you mix up in bulk and then store in smaller bottles when using whatever liquid. For example right now I have 300ml of a chocolate doughnut, strawberry cheesecake, raspberry custard, and cantaloupe pomegranate. Those are in 500 ml bottles, but I also have normal 60ml LDPE unicorn bottles of those juices I fill my vape with. The bigger bottles are used for mixing and storage, the smaller are used for vaping. I have tried and have not found a way to mix being blind, it involves getting some measurements down to the hundredth of a gram. NO talking scales are sensitive enough. What I have done is buy all the stuff to mix juice, and I pay someone $10 a month to mix me up juice whenever I need it. It still is cheaper than buying it. The investment at the start is more, but afterwards I'm paying about $20 for 400 to 500ml of finished vape juice. I also use a RDA so no buying pre made coils. I just install my own wire coils, add my own cotton and can drip or squank until my heart's content.if this is something you are interested in there is a big community of vapers on youtube, and watching their videos will help you way more than I ever could. Most importantly if you have a mod and tank that you enjoy use it, if you aren't smoking then it is good. If down the road you want to branch out and get into the more hobbyist parts then by all means go down the rabbit hole, a lot of us have. Just make sure you are using the right liquid for the right tank, and if you have external batteries stop what you are doing and go research proper battery safety, that is the most important.

Re: a call to all vapers

Damn you person who told me about this topic! I wanted to clear up a few things. I use to smoke 2-3 packs a day and quit on accident when I tried vaping over a year ago. That and I have been working on a blog post about this topic for a couple weeks now, so most of this info is fresh in my head.Vaping is not harmless, but it is the most successful form of harm reduction to smoking there is. According to the Royal College of Physicians it is 95% less harmful than smoking. Also according to a UK study published in the New England Journal of Medicine it is twice as effective as gums, patches, or sprays for helping smokers quit. In addition no one has ever gotten sick or died as a result of normal nicotine vaping, every single case of lung illness was directly linked to black market THC vapes which were cut with vitamin  E acetate. Nicotine vaping is not harmless, but is substantially better for you than any form of smoking. This is because it does not contain carcinogens caused by combustion which is how someone would smoke a cigarette. People who say otherwise are one of two things, lying or uninformed. Now to the 2ml tank and if it will be enough. A 2ml tank is normally the standard for a Mouth To Lung(MTL) tank. Unless you live in the EU and have to deal with TPD restrictions, then 2ml is the max no matter what. A MTL vape is the same action as a cigarette, where you suck it into your mouth, then inhale as if smoking. They use an above ohm coil, which means above 1.0 ohms, and use a much lower wattage. the basic rule is the higher the ohms the lower the wattage. Right now you don't need to understand ohm's law, but down the road if you get deep into vaping you'll want a full understanding of it.MTL vaping is typically most satisfying to those quitting smoking. MTL tanks also use an e-liquid with a higher nicotine level, normally 18mg free base, or up to 50mg salt nicotine. This is because the vapor production is quite low, and you don't get as much per hit. Do not ever vape a high nicotine level, above 6mg with a sub ohm tank or coil. Sub ohm produces a lot of vapor, and you should not vape higher than 6 at the absolute highest, unless you are 100% sure of what you are doing, getting nicotine sick is not fun from what I hear.As you vape a higher mg free base nicotine you'll realize it starts to be harsher the longer you vape it. This normally happens After a few months. This is because your body is processing the nicotine, and it is becoming too much for you. This happens naturally and at different rates for everyone. When you notice your juices getting harsher it is time to step down in nicotine from 18 to 16 or 12. This will keep happening until you are done vaping, or until you find a nicotine level you want to stay at. I enjoy being at 1.5mg with sub ohm vaping, and I don't vape with my mtl tanks at all anymore. You will want to watch some videos, or read up some on your specific device, and general vaping terminology. Most importantly don't listen to people with their head up their asses who are going to tell you vaping is more dangerous than smoking. It simply is not and people have been vaping for over a decade. Over 10 million people in the states vape, and no one has ever gotten sick from it. That isn't even mentioning places like the UK and Canada where the government and doctors actively promote vaping to smokers because they understand it is the best option for people quitting. Also nicotine on it's own is not bad for you, at least no more so than normal every day items like caffeine. There is a huge community of people who review and vape on youtube. If you go there and type in the device you have, you'll find lots of reviews for it along with how to use it. A lot of it is visual yes, but after you watch enough videos and learn the terminology you'll have a much better understanding. If you want to save the money you can get into DIY juice making, and rebuilding your own coils. I don't build my own coils but I do use an RDA which means I install a wire coil, and only have to change my cotton in it every couple days.To the person who asked about vapor having a smell. It is different with every flavor. Right now I'm vaping a strawberry cheesecake milk flavor and it doesn't have much room note. However something with watermelon will make your place smell like cotton candy pretty fast. The same for a bakery vape, you're room will smell like the flavor. My favorite room notes come from a good apple vape, it smells like the best apple air freshener you could buy.

Re: Teens Are Not too Young for Depression

Just wanted to pop in and post this quick. I personally don't have any problems with ironcross, or anyone involved in whatever is going on in this thread. I also don't really know what is up except for something about BSG and people associated with it. The only current authors on BSG are myself and Hannibal. It has been this way for a long time. I haven't updated the page that specifies that though which is my fault. There is a link to that below. Just wanted to put that in before someone thought they were going to run to me and post or get me to post anything. There's also a new rule that any one who wants to guest post has to post about gaming before anything else so we aren't used as an outlet for people's ranting on personal topics. I'll still do that when I want but I made the site so I'm allowed to. Hannibal makes me laugh so he's allowed to as well, others will have to go through normal channels though.I don't even know if this is still pertinent, and I'm honestly not going to read to find out, but it's better to post than not to. I just cleaned up the BSG roles as well so hopefully there aren't any points of confusion about it anymore.updated list of contributors.http://bsgl.ink/eXUXwJust wanted to pop in and post this quick. Re: income from a blogg website?

The best advice I could give is build up a readership first. I paid for BSG out of pocket for quite a while. After you have developed something people enjoy or find helpful then I would suggest setting up some sort of crowd support option like Patreon.Amazon affiliates is good, but as you found out the Captcha is not accessible, and they can be really picky with who they accept in relation to the content on your site. Also amazon is location based so if you set up amazon affiliates through the US store then someone in the UK uses your link it won't count for you. You will have to set up an affiliate account for every Amazon store you think readers of your site will use. Then you need to include links for each individual store, or use a script that automatically directs them to their closest amazon store based on their location.Ebay has a much better and easier to use partner network you can use, but then you can only link to Ebay products for site income. You can also look into subscription services you use and see if they have an affiliate program. If they do normally they offer a free month if you refer someone. You can then use the money you were using on that subscription to pay for your server/site costs.Overall it is an adventure to figure out a way to fund a blind related site. Blindness related topics are already very niche, so it can be challenging. The most important thing is your content. You have to start with that and give people a product they enjoy. The difficult part is paying out of pocket for that period as you develop your site. If you are able to do that,  then just try to make the best thing you can. With BSG I've learned if people enjoy what you do and they are able to, they will support what you produce. Just make something and see if people like it, then go from there.

Re: NVDA behaving badly

Yeah I've had it happen to me with NVDA, and also with jaws sometimes. All I do to fix it is tapping both controls at the same time together, then both alts together, then both shifts together. I tap each one 3 or 5 times at the same time. That seems to fix it for me whenever it happens.
