Re: Zombies vs unicorns I read this story a number of years ago. I found most of the zombie stories to be quite strange and rather unappealing but the unicorn stories were rivetting and humorous. However, I'm a zombie fan myself. There's nothing quite like blowing the brains of an undead flesh-eater all over the place. But then again, a barbarian warrior wielding an axe while riding a war stallion that's actually a unicorn sounds pretty appealing as well. I'd quite like to have that as a story actually. All The Bands You've ever Seen Live Hey all. So, as some of you may know, music is a huge part of my life. I love going to concerts and playing/listening to music. My question to you all is: Who have you all managed to see?After this weekend that list is huge for me. I've seen Amaranthe, Butcher Babies, Shinedown, Halestorm, Five Finger Death Punch, Slayer, Disturbed, Slipknot, Trivium, Starset, Chevelle, We Are Harlot, Red Sun Rising, Beartooth, Skillet, In This Moment and some Alice In Chains. All great shows except for the last one... they decided to turn the speakers up to full and let us have it so we walked back to the camper to just listen from there. Also In This Moment wasn't a very good show... she had to change between each song and each outfit got sluttier with the shows progression. Not that I care I can't even see it but she focused more on her clothes than singing. On top of that I could hear the prerecorded tracks all the time.Fun weekend, all great bands. Re: New Laptop Needed I think 8.1 is built for the model of computer I have so when I upgraded to 10 my soundcard got all screwy and I've heard that a lot of apps don't work the best... for example, TW Blue, unless that's been fixed, and I've heard if you want to use Skype and other things you have to get them from the Windows store which I'm not anxious about. 8.1 is perfect for what I do with my laptop. New Laptop Needed
New Laptop Needed Hello all...So, I've come to realize that my laptop is a lost cause. Broken down, slow, earphone port is now broken, vent cover is broken... I just need to buy a new one. This laptop has lasted me about 3 years and I absolutely love it so if someone could help me find a similar one, that would be great. My price range is under 400 dollars and I know it's doable, I've seen one around but I forget where it is. I want it to be loaded with windows 8.1 for I'm not ready for windows 10 yet, not after my last experience. A minimum of 4 gigs of ram and 500 GB hard drive would be fantastic... and that's about as far as my knowledge of computer mechanics and specs extend. For that I'd need to body paint myself black, get a long white wig, find a forest green robe and light armor and get a set of twin scimitars which I can find on Amazon easier enough. What device doesn't? I can't force any of you to get excited about this device but it appears to me that a lot of you are fearful of evolution amongst blind technology. An Issue with skype Hey all. I was speaking with a friend today and she was unable to hear me. I hung up the call, changed my recording level back to 50, and called her back. It worked fine. But then after about 5 minutes she couldn't hear me. And when I went to check my recording level, it was back at 0. How do I keep it from falling? Re: X box One questions The XBOX 1 has Narrator on it. If you have Kinect, just say XBOX turn on narrator. It's much larger and bulkier than the 360, but I had the 360 Elite so that's my comparation. Also, there is no disk tray in the sense that you just slide the disk into a slot and it'll go in automatically, similar to some builds of the PS3. The start of my story Hello all. I am looking to be an author when I've grown up, and I'm starting here, with this story: The man with the blades was tired. He was a large man, nearly seven feet, and muscular. He carried two large broadswords which he wielded with deadly efficiency, a suit of tightly linked chain-mail clung to his form. It was now flecked red with blood and gore, the legacy of the path he'd carved to get to this point. He was not an evil man. He, in fact, was an agent of good, one of the brave knights of the good king Benjamin's court. The man's name was Argus, and he was tired. He was tired of the constant injustices he watched his king's people face at the hands of the evil Lord Julrund, a being more creature than man, that haunted the eastern reaches of the kingdom. He was tired of the death and destruction his eyes took in every time he turned his head. But, above all, he was tired of being alone. bsp; He nearly fell to his knees then as a fresh wave of emotional pain struck his heart. A year ago, in the first days of the war, his wife, Gloria, had been murdered by a henchman of the evil being he faced now. His son, John, had been crippled, his arm taken by the cruel blade of a barbarian warrior, one of the many that had sided with the evil dark lord. John was as good a warrior as any able-bodied man he'd ever met, but he knew it pained his son daily to be without his left arm. Now, as Argus faced down the dark lord, a tall, spindly thing that could only be called a man, for he spoke with the voice of a barrel-chested king. He wielded a wickedly serrated blade, dripping gore from a recent murder. In his other hand, he clutched a staff of undeniable magical power. His body was covered only by a wispy robe of white material. He glared icily at Argus, a cruel smile further twisting his grotesque features. The lord wasted no time with words, having no ne to say. He simply waded forward, swinging his sword in a blindingly fast arc towards Argus' gut. The large man leaning back to avoid the swipe. He brought one of his massive swords across to parry the blow while bringing his other around, slashing at the staff. Julrund dodged deftly to the side and raised his staff, sending a wave of force crashing him into the far wall. Julrund stalked forward, raising his sword for the killing stroke. But I truly thought, and still think, that she is the one. I hope to fight through this rough patch and marry her someday. I know I now, I'm only sixteen, or will be next month, but I've gone through things in my life that have given me the mentality of a 30 or even 40 year old. I've been told I'm more mature than most 30 year olds out there. Anyhow, that's beside the point. The way my depression works is I'll lay for hours on my laptop, talking to a friend about it then 30 seconds later we're cracking jokes and poking fun at one another, then 30 seconds later the cycle begins again. I imagine it's exhausting for them and more than a tad annoying. There are times where I'll turn on a song and just curl up and cry. It'll last maybe 5 minutes, then I'll feel better for a few hours. I always stop myself fr om ending it to think how would Erowyn feel? How would my best friend Brit feel? How would my family feel? My uncle who I go hunting with every deer season? My mom and sister? My friend Dustin, or my best blind friend Khannon? I know I have people who care about me even if I don't see it at times. Sometimes I forget that. They, especially Erowyn, are the ones who keep me fighting from day to day. I may be extremely angry with my mom and sister, and yes very afraid of them, but I know somewhere deep down that they do love me. This isn't for attention The irony of the topic name is not lost on me. A topic name like that will draw attention wanted or not. Anyhow, I thought I'd elaborate on the reason it is named as such. I do not seek to draw attention for my own selfish needs in the following post, I only seek to vent.I am depressed. There I said it. Depressed and suicidal. I have not yet self-harmed but I'm not afraid to. Recently my family pushed my only love and only happiness away because they said she wasn't who she said she was and she was lying to me and hurting me. But in doing so, they hurt me. Now before you say they're just my family and they care for me, don't. I've heard it a million times and while it may be true, she's the only one I love, have loved, or will ever love. Period, done, over with. My mom and sister are raging psychos. Just the other day my mom went off on me for saying I didn't feel like talking about my current mood and my sister gets angry with me if I ask her to help me make food. Sure sure, normal family things, but my mom threatened to kill herself in front of me once. I'm honestly done with living here. School is hard, very hard. I'm failing only one class but it's enough to bring my morale down. I know I should get help. I know I should seek counseling. But I don't think that will help. I'm hopeless, I'm already considering ending it on a daily basis. I've got friends I talk to and only a select few members of my family know and I intend to keep it that way. Re: Appology and other things Thank you everyone for being so understanding. Dark, one of the people who partook in saying those things to me is indeed on this forum. As I see it, he's become something of an icon in the development community as of late, collaborating with Ultrocity audio. Other people who are not in the audiogames community have partook in saying things to me too. I received a skype message from someone that read, "Did you buy an engagement ring for your idiot girlfriend Erowyn?" For one, that isn't mature or kind in any circumstance whatsoever. Secondly, I am very defensive of her. I'm keeping my status as her hero because in many ways she's saved me. What I never could quite figure out is why can't they give me a good luck wish, a pat on the back and well wishes? Nope, they have to ridicule me, call me names, and take shots at my baby girl. Appology and other things Recently people have been expressing disagreement with my decision to leave the blind community, others have called me arrogant, others have taken shots at my baby girl. I'm sorry if I've hurt you in any way but I am not changing my decision. In other news if I come on here acting like a huge asshole and writing snippy comments at you, don't take it personal. I probably won't be on much anyway if at all. But I'm very scared of losing Erowyn and if I do I'm telling you now it's not something I'm going to get over. I know, that shouldn't effect my view of the community as a whole and yet I can't help but be driven away by how hostile some of these people can be. Re: Program for shutting the PC down Well, look at it this way. A program to shut down a computer could do it in any number of ways. Im not a techy myself so I cant go in to deep but what I do know is it could make the computer have a fatal error causing it to shut down so the person would have to restart the device. But I do also agree its rather pointless. My favorite parts of Language Arts class have been the times where wed be given a point to discuss. It was quite fun. However the arguments Ive seen here have been jabs at people for having opposite opinions. It is not fun, I hate to admit it but some of them make me laugh at the sheer childish implications.
