Re: [Audiogames-reflector] Deaf-blind-accessible games?
Re: Deaf-blind-accessible games? I find the more relaxing mind sports games such as discussed on http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?id=12806 and they can be played with or without a Braille display, the latter being true if you only play the games in person. From a computer though, using a Braille display would definitely work, and of course the playroom and RSGames would be great, so as All-In-Play and the Cardroom.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=169112#p169112 ___ Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com http://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector
Re: [Audiogames-reflector] Deaf-blind-accessible games?
Re: Deaf-blind-accessible games? I can't really contribute to the ongoing discussion of where to find deaf-blind accessible games, but I can say it is something I have been strongly considering for quite some time for my own projects. I have been thinking for a long time that I could not only increase accessibility, expand my user base, but was wondering if people with hearing impairments as well as visual impairments would e willing to fund accessible games that were deaf-blind compatible rather than being the typical audio only accessible game for the blind. Its rather trivial now days to send braille output via a screen reader API to a braille display or to just come up with a text only user interface that is accessible to everyone so my thinking is we should do that. Any thoughts from deaf-blind users on the subject of creating more universally accessible games?URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=169084#p169084 ___ Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com http://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector
Re: [Audiogames-reflector] Deaf-blind-accessible games?
Re: Deaf-blind-accessible games? the game lockpick https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta … n.LockPick makes different vibration patterns based on whether you picked the lock or not. I would think the onscreen instructions that are in the tutorial game could be read with a braille display if they are needed. I have played in noisy environments where I can't always hear the screenreader very well and I remember doing ok by feeling the vibrations.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=169077#p169077 ___ Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com http://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector

Re: Deaf-blind-accessible games? Hello,You should normally be able to play on the playroom only with a braille display (using the windows client). Don't try games where you have to be quick like uno with super-intercepts, you will never catch up, but otherwise it should be fine.If it isn't possible, I would be happy to know why; I always accept to receive suggestions and positive criticism.P.S. You might try to disable colors if it makes problems.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=168445#p168445 ___ Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com http://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector

[Audiogames-reflector] Deaf-blind-accessible games?
Deaf-blind-accessible games? How many games are out there that are accessible to people whom are both blind and deaf? (I originally mistyped "deaf" as "death". That does not bode well for the rest of this post.)This mostly came to mind while I was thinking about the accessible gaming convention. I'm kinda struggling to think of interfaces that don't involve braille.A quick look with NVDA and a PM40 tells me that most of Aprone's games (Swamp, Towers of War and Daytona being the major exceptions) are completely playable with only braille.Night of Parasite appears mostly playable with braille.Dotris and Mario kinda go without saying. Sengoku Jidai and the JFIM Adventure less so (there's braille support, but it doesn't give all the information that audio does). If I were feeling particularly patient, I might try playing BK2 using only braille and the object viewer, but if I were that patient, I'd just add "audio to braille" to my ever-growing list of sensory substitution projects. Are there others? I mean, besides muds/interactive fiction, since those are kinda obvious?URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=168321#p168321 ___ Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com http://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector
