Re: an annoying issue with my computer, please help

I never heard of a horsepower computer. By the way, someone posted an e-mail saying that Windows Nine was going to look more like Windows Seven. Im not sure if this is actually going to happen.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=164313#p164313

Re: an annoying issue with my computer, please help

SharpKeys is a nice utility. I used it with my Virtual machine on my Mac and also when I used Bootcamp so I could make the Capslock key function as insert and also have an applications key. It will not work in this situation because all it does is take pre-existing keys and allow you to change them to other keys. It does have support for some media keys but a lot of these are keyboard specific so it wouldnt know how to change them to the regular FKeys. Ill check out FN lock and see if that does what I want.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=164110#p164110

Re: an annoying issue with my computer, please help

This is sertainly an issue.my toshiba had the same thing. On the subject of bios its lazyness on manufacturers part.Toshiba has managed to have a windows program render their bios settings in a control panel like interface as a contron panel aplet and earlier on in win95 and dos as actual programs. There is no excuse for others to write simular apps.Ofcause there would be some cash.I know that toshiba with intel flash updaters can upgrade their bios from the desktop. You will loose control of just about everything while it works and are told to not unplug or plug anything at all during upgrading then you need to restart. There shouldnt be that much of an issue.I guess you can use sharpkeys to handle this for you but to be honest its a bios thing. At any rate when you get a system you should have a sightling go over its bios with you.there are many things you can do with a bios and most of it is benificial.maximising device usage and such.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=163956#p163956

Re: an annoying issue with my computer, please help

Hi.I had this issue with a laptop I used to own.I guess thats what you have to deal with when you get a system where the hardware and software are made by two different companies.Thats why I like the mac.But enough of me favoring mac computers over Windows. As to fixing it, I never found out a way but yeah probably booting into the bios would help. From what Ive read you hold down f10 or something like that while the computer boots. Once a certain screen appears, you can press the arrows to navigate. You will have to have sighted help again why I like the mac because everything talks right from the get go.Anyone know why Microsoft cant just put a function into windows to disable the function key like Apple has done in OS X?Is it because they dont make the hardware and therefor dont have complete control over it?URL: h

Re: an annoying issue with my computer, please help

I read somewhere that there is a key called FN lock which will lock the FN key so you dont have to press it every time you want to proform the normal functions. I also read that it is different with every keyboard. Is this true?URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=163701#p163701

Re: an annoying issue with my computer, please help

Hi.This is indeed a typical Bios thing. I hope the Bios will become accessible in the future, but I dont think that even would be possible. I hope computers will come without an Bios like the Mac computers in the future, which will make things much more accessible. Some computers comes with tools which changes things in the Bios on a restart, and you might find some of this software accessibel.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=163657#p163657

an annoying issue with my computer, please help

Hi.I have a windows 8 HP laptop. Whenever I want to preform functions that require the function keys, f1 through f12, for some of them I must press the FN key first. For example, if I want to quit jaws, I would have to press insert plus FN plus f4. Is there any way that I can get around this without having to press the FN key? This gets extremely annoying after a while because I would like to preform those functions with 1 hand, and when I press the function keys by themselves they do weird things like turn airplane mode on. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=163638#p163638

I too have this issue, although Im using a Del Inspiron N7010 running Windows 7, but I would love to find a utility that would allow you to use the standard FKey functions like OS X does natively.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=163648#p163648
